I cant find the original source of this quote but i found it on tumblr

“I told Felipe to stop calling me to ask for my vote; I was fed up with him.” - Crown Prince Frederik joking about the elections of the 2020 Olympic Games. ;)

While Frederik was to the IOC meeting in Argentina, he also found time to cultivate Danish-Argentinian business relations: http://argentina.um.dk/da/nyheder/newsdisplaypage/?newsID=7A455A07-2AF3-4D1B-925B-87007C83B14A

At an event at the Danish embassy, he met representatives for most of the around 30 Danish businesses operating in Argentina as well as representatives for Argentinian businesses.

Oddly enough this is not mentioned in the DRF calendar, which is a pity. Not least because this kind of work is not particularly glamourous but nevertheless important, we are talking money and export here.

B.T. New Danish IOC member will learn from the Crown Prince: Dansk OL-stemme er blevet stærkere: Nyvalgt Høyer vil lære af Kronprinsen - Vinter OL | www.bt.dk

BB article: Poul-Erik Høyer lykønsket af kronprins Frederik | Billed Bladet

Frederik and Høyer waved together at the opening cermony: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/1888542_721795531186733_1685625116_n.jpg

Poul-Erik Høyer became last Friday (prior to the the Winter Olympics) elected to IOC as a member. Denmark has now two members in the IOC and it was Frederik who highly recommended that it was Høyer who was elected.

As a new IOC member, Poul-Erik Høyer says he learn from Crown Prince Frederik, who has been in IOC since autumn 2009.

- "I imagine definitely that we can make a common front in some areas. When you have two votes it's possible to highlight something better. And we can complement each other, it's always better with two than with one.

- It's obviously that now he has been a member for some years and gained some experience which I of course will take advantage of and he is becoming very experienced. So what Denmark has to work with has been strong and I hope it will become even stronger by the fact that I have joined."

Denmark's chairman for Athletic association, Niels Nygaard, confirms that there is a good relationship between the two Danish IOC members.

- "There will definitely be a strong relationship between them. We have just been sitting eaten lunch together all three and talk about things and it will play very well. They also have roughly the same age and they are both active athletes, so it's a good start.

- "I don't think they have been out on some common workouts this time around, but it may be it comes. The Crown Prince is mostly to run, bike and skiing, while Poul-Erik's is more to be in the fitness center.

Kronprins Frederik: Familien vigtigere end OL | Billed Bladet

Frederik has to the tabloid Ekstra Bladet explained that while the children are still young, they have priority. I.e. he wish to spend as much time as the duties allow with them, especially in regards to family holidays.

Ekstra Bladet have in todays editorial not neglected this opportunity to whack him on the head. He ought to have put his duties before his family.
Ekstra Bladet have in another editorial recently, somewhat reluctantly, commended Frederik for speaking up against the insane costs of the Olympics. - At long last in Ekstra Bladet's opinion.

Well, you can hardly blame a man for putting his family first and spending time with his family and he has indeed spend a lot of time in Sochi (and that has also been duly reported by the sports press), before taking a few days break to spend time with his family in Verbier. The problem in this context is of course that he had already been with his family on holiday prior to the Olympics, so quite a few will think that he had had his quality time with the family.

Frederik gets whacked on the head by EB, whatever he does. And Mary. Had it been the other way around, had he spent the two weeks in Sochi, he would have been whacked on the head for that. They are very creative, the "reporters" at EB....;)

I think it was this magazine that also criticized frederik for not attending All IOC meetings. He can't win.

But in other news in sochi they gave him some kangaroo gifts for the twins and greetings to Mary from the Australian team

:previous: Real men make twins, right?

I really like how they always visit the Australian athletes too when they visit the the Olympics, they are clearly fond of both countries.

Oh how cute!

Yes the boxing kangaroo is a familiar sight at sporting events but has also been used in the defence force. I have attached a link for the wiki site that may inform members:

E.B. doesn't sound like it is pro monachy? Or is it just anti Frederik & Mary?

Thank you for the information and photo!

:previous: No no, EB is anti to all our royal members. Also the foreigns. It's well known (and said by the newspaper itself) that they are against monachy. In fact, the newspaper is very anti everybody. :whistling:You should see how they writes about others, our Prime Minister in particular. Yeah, you may like her or not, but I for one, think it reminds of bullying. They write more about M+F than the others in the royal family, but it is simply because there is bigger interest in M+F. Writing a story, positive or negative, means many more views than writing a story, positive or negative, of example Prince Henrik or Joachim. Besides having some interesting revelations and strong campaigns (most political or community-related) E.B. most of all reminds of a gossip magazine. I know that the schools not using E.B as a serious source.

Tak Roskilde. Thank you for informing me about EB. A shame that that is the case. I guess the DRF know not to read it and there are enough people who look for and enjoy the interesting side of monachies, their histories and families, that media outlets such as EB don't matter so much.

I think most people today understand that many media outlets make up stories about famous people just to sell more magazines. A quick check on the internet soon dispells these outrageous stories/lies. The trouble is that some people believe everything they see in print and then come away with a bias that is unfair about a person. What can we do other than ignore the negative articles. Maybe this is why the Royal Forums is so popular with people all around the world, as members seek the truth.

I am not sure if this is belong here, but I thout to write it here because he is involce in the Olympics. I was wondering how is that Denmark never got a medal in the Winter Olimpics? Does Denmark support their athlets?

I imagine Danish people must be asking themselves the same question. Here in Canada a special support was put in place for athletes when we hosted the winter Olympics. We did not want to repeat the embarrassment of Montreal when we as host country failed to win a single medal:ohmy:

You're welcome :)

Yes I doubt our royal members read EB on a daily basis, I'm pretty sure they read our more serious newspapers such as Berlingske, Politiken and Jyllands Posten (Muhler has given an example a few months ago somewhere in the threads) I have seen Mary with Politiken when she and Frederik was on their way to the wedding in Berleburg in 2011. On the other hand, I remember once having seen PC Henrik with tabloid B.T. What is interesting is that the royals don't avoid EB - Frederik for example has several times lined up for rather large solo interviews with EB. Recently only two days ago in Sochi about his days during the Olympics. Also back in 2011 some weeks after Mary had given birth to Vincent and Josephine. EB actually gived him great credit for standing up to the interview (in his own home) in a newspaper which everyone (including Frederik himself) knows is against the monarchy. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/YFOex7s7jq8/mqdefault.jpg (a picture from the interview)

And that said, yes EB can be really hard and rapacious to the royals, but it's in periods - often up to something big happening - such as a birth or Margrethe's 40th anniversary. There can be months, maybe half a year where there aren't some special articles.

It's more a question of talents. Or lack of it.
And apart from that DK is not the greatest winter sports nation, to put it mildly.
Except when it comes to curling perhaps. - Which is an odd, odd occupation, no doubt invented by slightly intoxicated and bored municipal streetsweepers on a winters day. :p

Denmark won their only medal at any winter Olympics, silver, in 1998 in Curling :flowers:

hey, you can only go up from here ;)

Ok, this magazine had the wring information about Denmark! one medal is great , better than nothing! Just that country like Denmark so stable
and with a good financial situation I would imagine would get kids with talent and prepare them for the Olympics, like did Russia. Adelina the gold medal in figure skating was prepare for this Olympics since she was 12, and I mean Russia paid for everything, after came Yulia and took her throne and the Russians thought that Yulia will win, but Adelina showed them she was the winner! Denmark could do the same!

Frederik participating in these days (December 7-9th ) in the 127th IOC Session in Monaco. Unfortunately, I doubt we get any coverage.

Frederik has spoken to Politiken about the reforms of the IOC that aims at setting guidelines for making teh Olympics much more affordable, so that smaller nation can bid for being the host or alternatively that two nearby cities from different nations can share the burden.

Kronprins Frederik: Folkets støtte er nødvendig for dansk OL-bud - Politiken.dk

He is also asked about Copenhagen having a chance as a host city. Frederik responds that being an optimist by nature, that possibility is closer than before. However he adds that it would not be possible without a backing of at least 60& of the Danes.

Today and tomorrow, Frederik is regent.
Tomorrow he also speaks at the National Athletic association congress
