For the past two days Crown Prince Frederik has been participating in the IOC Coordination Commission meeting in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Here is a small picture of the meeting, i think Frederik is on the right of the lady in white.

I might be wrong, so if i am, enjoy the article about the meeting

Yes, you are right! Princess Haya is on that group picture as well, she's an IOC member since 2007.

Here's a pic of them together, taken while they were leaving the IOC presidential candidates briefing on July 4:

Not sure if this belongs in this thread but CP Frederik has commented on the discriminatory laws In Russia and their possible effects on the up coming Winter games in Sochi.

" IOC representative in Denmark, Crown Prince Frederik, stresses in an email that the right to physical education without discrimination is essential for the IOC. "If individual groups discriminated against, it is a violation of the Olympic Charter, the Olympic spirit and not least the contract, any host included with the IOC. This has IOC President made clear to the Russian organizers, "writes the Crown Prince""

A really excellent intervention by Crown Prince Frederik, pointing out the inherent contradiction in the IOC position {supporting Games in a place that has laws clearly violating the Olympic charter.}

I hope Britains IOC representative, the Princess Royal, also voices her dissent on this issue.

Frederik is of course speaking as the Danish member of the IOC and not as the Danish Crown Prince, even though his opinion is no doubt cleared with the government.

Anyway, he doesn't say much. Only that if (homosexual) athletes are discriminated it will be in violoation of the Olympic spirit and unacceptable.

The Russian legislation says that if people, including foreigners, promote homosexuality to minors, they are liable for prosecution.
And as the Olympics is supposed to be apolitical, athletes promoting their sexuality or voicing a political protest during the games will do so in violation of the Olympic spirit.
Basically a Catch-22.

The Danish Foreign Minister has expressed the Danish concern about the Russian legislation, but believe that athletes should not be withdrawn from taking paty in the Olympics.

So in short: Nothing is going to happen. - There will be some protests here and there, some bad press for Russia and in a year it will all be forgotten, as we have seen before...

Its good that the issue is being mentioned by Fred in his capacity as IOC member, or rather the government deciding that he is allowed to say it.

Yesterday it was the Opening Ceremony of the 125th IOC Session at Teatro Colon in Argentina, why CP Frederik wasn't at this meeting as a member of the IOC?

Well, I certainly expect him to there somewhere. Because BB has posted an article explaining about why Frederik went to the IOC meeting in the first place.

DR Sport also has an article.

While Frederik was to the IOC meeting in Argentina, he also found time to cultivate Danish-Argentinian business relations: http://argentina.um.dk/da/nyheder/ne...B-87007C83B14A

At an event at the Danish embassy, he met representatives for most of the around 30 Danish businesses operating in Argentina as well as representatives for Argentinian businesses.

Oddly enough this is not mentioned in the DRF calendar, which is a pity. Not least because this kind of work is not particularly glamourous but nevertheless important, we are talking money and export here.

B.T. New Danish IOC member will learn from the Crown Prince: Dansk OL-stemme er blevet stærkere: Nyvalgt Høyer vil lære af Kronprinsen - Vinter OL | www.bt.dk

BB article: Poul-Erik Høyer lykønsket af kronprins Frederik | Billed Bladet

Frederik and Høyer waved together at the opening cermony: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...85625116_n.jpg

Poul-Erik Høyer became last Friday (prior to the the Winter Olympics) elected to IOC as a member. Denmark has now two members in the IOC and it was Frederik who highly recommended that it was Høyer who was elected.

As a new IOC member, Poul-Erik Høyer says he learn from Crown Prince Frederik, who has been in IOC since autumn 2009.

- "I imagine definitely that we can make a common front in some areas. When you have two votes it's possible to highlight something better. And we can complement each other, it's always better with two than with one.

- It's obviously that now he has been a member for some years and gained some experience which I of course will take advantage of and he is becoming very experienced. So what Denmark has to work with has been strong and I hope it will become even stronger by the fact that I have joined."

Denmark's chairman for Athletic association, Niels Nygaard, confirms that there is a good relationship between the two Danish IOC members.

- "There will definitely be a strong relationship between them. We have just been sitting eaten lunch together all three and talk about things and it will play very well. They also have roughly the same age and they are both active athletes, so it's a good start.

- "I don't think they have been out on some common workouts this time around, but it may be it comes. The Crown Prince is mostly to run, bike and skiing, while Poul-Erik's is more to be in the fitness center.

Kronprins Frederik: Familien vigtigere end OL | Billed Bladet

Frederik has to the tabloid Ekstra Bladet explained that while the children are still young, they have priority. I.e. he wish to spend as much time as the duties allow with them, especially in regards to family holidays.

Ekstra Bladet have in todays editorial not neglected this opportunity to whack him on the head. He ought to have put his duties before his family.
Ekstra Bladet have in another editorial recently, somewhat reluctantly, commended Frederik for speaking up against the insane costs of the Olympics. - At long last in Ekstra Bladet's opinion.

Well, you can hardly blame a man for putting his family first and spending time with his family and he has indeed spend a lot of time in Sochi (and that has also been duly reported by the sports press), before taking a few days break to spend time with his family in Verbier. The problem in this context is of course that he had already been with his family on holiday prior to the Olympics, so quite a few will think that he had had his quality time with the family.

Frederik gets whacked on the head by EB, whatever he does. And Mary. Had it been the other way around, had he spent the two weeks in Sochi, he would have been whacked on the head for that. They are very creative, the "reporters" at EB....
