""The Crown Princess and I are proud to lead a delegation of 36 Danish companies. These companies each represent excellence within the three sector tracks of this visit; Healthcare, Urban & Cleantech and Food & Beverages. Three sectors where Italian and Danish competences are strongly positioned and where there are room and potential for further development cooperation.""

Thanks, Polyesco.

This visit has been well covered here in DK.
I heard an interesting and amusing description of the co-operation between Danish and Italian businesses.
The Italians come up with the ideas, the visions, the design and the concepts, the Danes make it happen.

When is Frederik and Mary going to be with the Pope?

A little selection from the DR article:

They managed to wander a lot around in the Italian capital before Frederik found the right place. The darkness was about to descend, when he suddenly saw an old church, and it was in front of it, he fell on his knees.

Mary said, as everyone knows, yes, and it's therefore a happy Crown Prince couple who today landed in the Italian capital, Rome, with the couple to promote business cooperation with Italy.

Crown Prince Frederik:
- For us it's our moment. 15 years ago was a fantastic moment in our lives. Rome is special. The big moments are between us wherever we are on the globe. So Rome is certainly not ignored, it's a lovely place - it was here I got a "yes".

Crown Princess Mary:
- Yes it's a city filled with some amazing/strong memories, and it's always more powerful when you're in town. But we have many more memories to create together here in the city.

I am so glad they mentioned that 15 years ago, Rome was the place that Frederik asked Mary to marry him. This trip must be extremely nostalgic for them.

Do we know the date of the actual engagement? It was announced on October 8, 2013, so I assume it most likely was a few weeks earlier?

(and not that many weeks before my (now) husband proposed :D as that will be 15 years ago next week).

I don't think the Royals ever announce the date of the proposal. It some cases, they don't even announce where it happened! It seems the engagement period is once the Palace announces the engagement and it has gone through the necessary approvals.

Nawwww...congratulations! :flowers::flowers::flowers::flowers::flowers:

Actually it was announced two weeks before 08.10.2003 that the Queen would give her official consent to the marriage on 08.10.2003.

The audience has just been covered by the 12.00 news.

The total visit to the Vatican State lasted 1½ hour. First the audience with the Pope in his office.
The accompanying Danish ministers were also introduced, after which they were shooed out. :D So that M&F could have a talk with the Pontif alone.
They exchanged presents. M&F presented the Pope with a Royal Copenhagen vase, with their monogram and a book about the renovation of their mansion.
The Pope returned the favor with a piece of art made from copper and four books, with each their theme.

After the audience M&F went over to have a talk with the Pope's State Secretary. (Equivalent to PM?)

Now there is only one last item on their agenda, before returning home.

--------------------

A DR1 video from the audience today with a giganormous text explaining to the blind no doubt, what is pretty evident from the clip:

ADDED: Fortunately TV2's coverage is better:

How nice that they met the Pope. I wonder if they invited him to visit Denmark. I know Lutheran is the state church, but is there a Roman Catholic presence in Denmark? It looks like Mary is wearing the brooch that Prince Henrik gave her, which is a nice touch.

Yes, there is a small Catholic minority in DK, as well as a Catholic church in the largest towns and cities. There are even two or three cloisters, each with a handful of nuns.
One is located not far from where we live, but you wouldn't know it, if you weren't told. They always wear civilian when outside the cloister.

I doubt QMII would have extended an invitation to the Pope.
There was a visit quite a few years ago, but that was mainly directed at the handful of cloisters and churches in Scandinavia and Catholic minority.
Yet, even that was enough to have some of the more fundamental Lutheran priests to almost wear garlic around their necks!

I'm sure Prince Henrik's sister ,Sr Catherine de Monpezat was pleased with the visit to the Vatican, the audience looked relaxed as per normal with Pope Francis.

In several cases we have an estimate and for our king and queen we even know the exact date: January 19, 2001 (and place: on the pond of Huis ten Bosch).

Thanks, so it must have been September at the latest.

Is the privilege du blanc never given to crown princesses?

The visit was great and well covered! I would not blame them if they spend an extra night in Rome ;)

Their official program ended yesterday afternoon.
Frederik & Mary have none official events before Monday next week in Denmark.
I wouldn't be surprised if the couple stays in Rome over the weekend. A few days in Rome, just the two of them.
Rome is undoubtedly special to them ?

Frederik told Berlingske yesterday that Rome has a very special place in his and the Crown Princess's heart:

- "It is a pleasure to visit Rome, which represents past and present so beautifully,
Personally, Rome also represents the past and present for me, because it was here I asked my wife if she would marry me."

It have been a wonderful visit in Italy, and I have enjoyed following it.
Thanks for all the good links, pictures and information from all of you :flowers:

I don't understand what they say at the end of the video. But it seems to be about The meeting with the Pope.

Mary looks absolutely fantastic. They are the powerful couple!
