Thanks for your help, Josefine :flower:

thank you it is very nice of you to say so
I needed it (a lot)

I will try to give a translation and some comments on the programme in Aalborg:

Kl, 10: Dannebrog ankommer til Honnørkajen.
Dannebrog arrives at the quay (Chatleen: the part of the quay called 'Honnørkajen').

Kl, 10.36: Besøg på Aalborg Universitet, Fr. Bajers Vej 7
A visit at the University of Aalborg. (Chatleen: The departments at Frederik Bajers vej are parts of the faculty of science and engineering).

Kl. 11.31: Galerie Wolfsen, Tiendeladen 6.
A visit at an art gallery: http://www.galeriewolfsen.dk/galleri_kalen...topnu/royal.asp

Kl. 12.17: Spadseretur over Mølle Plads og Hjelmerstald til Langes Keramikværksted. Kulturelt indslag på Mølle Plads ved "Mayors Musicke".
A walk around the town, and a visit at a workshop for ceramics.

Kl. 13.10: Spadseretur via Hjelmerstald, Algade og Østerågade til Aalborg Rådhus.
Foran Aalborg Rådhus spiller Zididada.
The walk continues, and the couple ends up at the city town hall. Outside the town hall, there will be a concert by the band Zididada (Chatleen: bad choice of music).

Kl. 13.25: Officiel modtagelse på Aalborg Rådhus og frokost.
Official reception of the guests at the city town hall, followed by a lunch.

Kl. 15.05: Spadseretur fra Aalborg Rådhus via Gi.Torv, C.W Obets Plads, Bispens-gade og Jomfru Ane Gade til Borgergade.
And the continue their walk ;)

Kl, 16.11: Besøg på koncertpladsen ved Honnørkajen, hvor der er "Sommersjov for Store og Små". Benny Schumanns Cirkuskompagni med LudvikaYong Stars underholder.
A visit at an entertainment-spot by the quay, with ongoing concerts.

Kl. 16.30: Der spadseres til Dannebrog.
The couple walks onboard Dannebrog

Kl. 20.30:Tim Christensen spiller og synger fra koncertpladsen for Kronprinsparret, når Dannebrog sejler ud af Aalborg Havn.
The singer Tim Christensen plays a concert, as Dannebrog is leaving the habour. (Chatleen: Good choice, I think, they would like that).

My overall comments on the programme in Aalborg:

I think, it is a good programme for the couples first visit in town. Afterall the main purpose is to make a possibility for danes all over the country to greet the new crown princess. The walks around various parts of the town makes that possible. Frederik has visited the town on several occasions, and both of them will probably be back on several occasions. Therefore I think, that making this visit a "festival for the inhabitant" is a good choice :)

I do hope, Mary receives a warning, so that she won't wear her most uncomfortable shoes ;)

And than of course I hope, that it will be a sunny day. Trust me, I will be on the streets that day ;)

Thanks for the translation on Aalborg, and your personal comments too, Chatleen.

Is it a case, that the word, "ghetto" is more polite than the word "slum"?

also, is this a case of the Danes tucking the "slum" into a smaller provincial city as opposed to Copenhagen ? Surely every town, like in Canada has a poorer part ? So ... what sets Odense apart ?

Now it begins :) I just saw a clip in the news showing the couple on their way to Dannebrog :)

Well, I would say, that Vollsmose is more a ghetto than slum.

My electronic Oxford dictionary tells me, that a 'Ghetto' is:

'an area of a city where many people of the same race or background live, separately from the rest of the population'

while 'slum' is:

'an area of a city that is very poor and where the houses are dirty and in bad condition'.

Vollsmose is primarily populated by non-ethnic danes, but the buildings aren't really slum. They are from the not so glorious architectural period in which concrete were seen as a usefull building-material, but one of the means in the non-successfull efforts of non-ghettoising (??;)) the area, has been to improve and modernize the buildings.

Sure every town has their own 'ghettos', but Vollsmose is in Denmark one of the most notorious. If it is fair is hard for me to say...

I should be doing something completely different from this, but my telly just seems to refuse to be turned off ;)

Just saw the balconyscene at the townhall in Aarhus. The crowd demanded a kiss, and Frederik gave his Mary a wee kiss the 3rd and last time, they went out on the balcony

  I like hats and they stay perfect in Mary, but semes they don't help for kiss's.

Some info:

The Old Town is Denmark’s only three-star museum outside the capital area, and is under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen. It is a living and breathing experience of what it was like to live and work in a Danish market town, as it was in the old days. The Old Town is a unique museum, welcoming more than 3 million visitors over the course of the last 10 years. Meet the people and characters of yesteryear, experience life as it was in their living rooms and kitchens; and smell the flowers right in their own gardens. Try out old childrens games, or why not go on an exploration through-out the museums extensive exhibitions? Pat the horses and watch out for the geese. Have a pint in the Beer Cellar and enjoy a cup af coffee and a cake in the tea garden.
Smell, taste, try - and understand.

I just wanted to tell, that it is a museum consisting of buildings from all parts of Denmark, it is not the old town center in Århus :)
