And the one who hits the barrle so that the bottom falls out is proclaimed cat-king or cat-queen.
I´ve always learned that the bottom is the Catqueen and the last board (bræt) is the Catking :)

Different custums from place to place, I guess? Or you are getting old, FasterB :yoda:and things have perhaps changed since your own childhood back in late Jurassic?
As far as I understand it's now bottom out = king or queen, depending on the sex of the child. :king3: Otherwise it can take forever to get the last splinter down.

Isabella really is a ham....But all the little Danishes but for Christian seem to be. They seem livelier than other royal children but in a good way, not obnoxiously or obtrusively. They are just fun.

Why aren't they releasing new pictures of her today? Because it's Easter Monday?

Such a shame. Mary's pictures of the children are always so well-taken.

Yeah maybe. I think in general it all (the media as well) has been totally shut down during the Easter.

But yes, really a pity. In the past it was only on special birthdays we got pictures, but Mary has otherwise made it a tradition that we get her lovely pictures every year for all four children's birthdays.

I agree, it's a shame that there are no new photos of Isabella. But as others have said, perhaps it's due to the fact that it was Easter Monday today. Over here in the UK, we're having a bank holiday (well, it's almost over now) - is it the same in Denmark? I'm asking because that could also be a reason as to why there are no photos of little Isabella.

Pictures from today? From the princess

There are no photos of Isabella today. :flowers:

It is a shame that we didnt get official pictures of Isabella for her birthday this year; I dont think we have gotten official birthday pics of her every single year; also with Christian I think we have missed official birthday pictures at least one year or so.

either way, Im glad we got to see her recently : D

I think that a few pictures *might* be released tomorrow or in the coming days. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't send any pictures out at all.

The majority of the Danish school children have had Easter Holiday (Påskeferie) since last Monday. Everyone else have the Danish equivalent of bank holidays on Maundy Thursday (Skærtorsdag), Good Friday (Langfredag), Easter Sunday (Påskedag) and Easter Monday (2. Påskedag).

I think that with the 10th wedding anniversary coming up they figured there will be plenty of new pictures for everybody to enjoy! I can't wait...!
(On a side note: how much our lives have changed in these past years, too, right? It would be fun to do a "where were you when...?")

i read in the magazines that Isabella celebrated her birthday with mom,dad and her siblings in Trend :) :) just as someone has guessed :)

The new school reform is being implemented this school year and that will directly involve Christian and Bella.

Here is an English blog that describes it in better details than I think I can: Back to (the new) school (reform)! – Diane's Daily Denmark

Not to be all "back in MY day things were different" but back in MY day ;) in elementary school in the 80s we had gym class three times a week, plus a post lunch break on the playground for 45 minutes, plus a 15 minute outdoor recess every morning. I grew up on the eastern coast of Canada so a lot of this would obviously take place in snow, sleet and wind for at least five months of the year. If we complained our teachers would helpfully suggest we add another layer of clothing and run faster to keep warm.

I've seen similar reports about reforms in our schools - adding in time for "movement classes" and the like - which makes me think time for physical activity has been cut quite a bit in the public schools over the past couple of decades. It can only be a good thing to add some of that time back, IMO.

Has Vincent and Josephine started nursery?

Congratulations and a happy birthday to Denmark's lovely prince Christian, but first and foremost, Frederik and Mary's big boy with his already nine years today :flowers: :daneflag2:

I'm pretty sure he celebrates his day with dad, mum and siblings in Trend.

Kongehuset has published two new pictures of Christian:

http://kongehuset.dk/materialemappe...hkh.+Prins+Christians+ni-års+fødselsdag-2.img

Both taken on board the Dannebrog in the beautiful surroundings of the family's Greenland tour. For the first time in many years it's not Mary who is the photographer, but F&M's favorite photographer Franne Voigt.

In addition to the new official pictures the Danish media celebrates Christian with various galleries and articles:

A large gallery (60 pictures) from Berlingske.dk with many great pictures in chronological order from Christian's birth to now: "Huge gallery: Congratulations, Prince Christian"!
Kæmpe billedserie: Tillykke, prins Christian! | www.b.dk

TV2 gallery: "Congratulations Prince Christian: A future King nine years old"
Tillykke til prins Christian: Se billederne af hans første ni år | Nyhederne.tv2.dk

Billedbladet gallery:

Tv2 article:

ADDED:
Billedbladet article with a long description of Christian - a description where I think BB is spot on:

When I look at all these pics I just cannot find any resemblence to none of his parents. He seems to be a fine and nice chap, but surely the least handsome of the 4 CP-children. It´s really surprising taking to account how goodlooking both Mary and frederik are...!

I'm going to have to disagree with you there on that assessment, @wartenberg7. I think Christian is a dapper young boy and I think he has a lot of Mary's beautiful features.

As for the birthday pictures, I was pleasantly surprised. Franne Voigt is far from my favourite photographer (his retouching habit is very unfortunate – remember this and this?), I much prefer Steen Brogaard, but these pictures are stunning – and the beautiful Greenlandic scenery definitely plays a part in that. Christian is such a lovely little boy and Trine Larsen's Billed Bladet article is spot on.

:previous: Yes BB's description of Christian is quite striking, isn't it?

Franne Voigt's pictures of the children are some of my absolute favorites, especially the series she took in May to F&M's 10 year wedding anniversary. But I much prefer her pics in colors and not in black/white. But personally, I think she's good at catching the children's own personality in pictures:

Mary. Totally Mary, but with Frederik's beautiful blue eyes and boyish charm.

:previous: I conquer – all the anniversary pictures were phenomenal as well :D I had completely forgotten that it was Voigt who shot those (and if I recall correctly, I mentioned how pleasantly surprised I was back then as well). He's definitely improved since those black and white photoshop failures.

I am almost entirely sure that Mary and Frederik's Christmas card this year will be a photo from Greenland by Franne Voigt as well and I absolutely can't wait to see it.

Prior to Christian's birthday tomorrow (Can't believe it's already nine years ago he was born) has BB this frontpage:

http://www.billedbladet.dk/sites/bi...c/media/article/smugkig41_2.png?itok=t0W6aqb0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though I don't speak Danish, I see that Christian is referred to as ''Mary's.'' Just like the Australian ''abdication'' article, Frederik isn't even mentioned. :bang:

Oh well. Happy Birthday, Christian!

:previous: Frederik is mentioned in the actual article, I can assure you :flowers: I suspect the reason why they only mentioned Mary is that their front page image is a picture of Christian and Mary. Inside, they also featured a nice little picture of Christian hugging Mary in Greenland along with a notice describing the moment. However, Mary is never mentioned singlehandedly in the body of the article, it's always either "Mary and Frederik", "Frederik and Mary" or "the Crown Princely couple".
