I hope the experience isn't too traumatic for him and hope he won't cry.

I don't think he'll cry. I'll be surprised if he does. I think that is at least one benefit of him going off to nursery school now, he's likely not aware of the significance. Not like a child that is at age 5. I remember seeing pics of Princess Elisabeth going to school and she looked scared and timid, but that was when she was 5, so she was well aware of everything.
Also I was wondering when the traditional school year begins in Denmark? Maybe it's because this is only nursery school but it just seems like a weird time of year to start school. But I don't know that much about Denmark so maybe all schools are starting soon there.

Schools start in August in Denmark; admittance to 'vuggestue' (nursery 'school' - no schooling involved however) and 'břrnehave' (kindergarten) does not have to be at any specific time of year.

I don't think Christian will be the one crying...I think Mary, and Fred too, will be leaving the nursery school with tears in their eyes

That is the first time I have seen Christian walking and he looks so tall. I'll bet he had a great first day at nursery school, making new friends and learning lots of new things.

Thanks for the pictures. He's georgeous. Well, he's not exactly crying but the poor little thing sure doesn't look all that happy. He looks confused. Where is this daycare thing anyway? It looks like they are in the middle of nowhere!

Thanks JessRulz, the link works fine. OMG Christian is a little heart-breaker . He'll make all the girl tots go gaga, I'm sure of it. Christian looks very smart and cute [for a one year old] in that black jacket.

On Danishroyalwatchers they are talking about an "PET officer" as co-teacher for Christian. What is that? Is that some kind of bodyguard keeping distance to Christian, but protecting him...or is that some kind of extra nanny/teacher. The first thing I´d understand, the 2nd thing not so much

Thank you
The answer I´m prefering An extra teacher changing his diapers, helping him with food and dressing would have made me questioning the idea of socialisation with the background of being treated as "ordinary boy"
That he needs a bodyguard is clear.
