Yes, she has a lot of hair, and it's brown and curly, CP Frederik says.

Perhaps if Frederik and Mary's third child is again a boy it would be help.
I also understand that proposed change has gone through the first reading. As you say, it needs the approval of the next sitting Parliament as well. There have been attempts to link a change to the act of succession with other changes to the constitution - since the birth of prince Christian took away the need to have the succession act changed quickly.
I do think that it will be changed by the next parliament; especially if Frederik and Mary have another son who will then precede this newborn princess in the succession line. That won't sit well with the Danes I think.

... and a big CONGRATULATIONS to Frederik and Mary with their little girl - was at a dinner party last night when no one seemed interested in the news and didn't want to turn on the TV or anything - arghhhhh - was sitting on pins and needles till I was rescued by a text message with the good news.

Caroline Heering also visited Mary and her little girl, for the second time this morning. Peter Warnoe and his wife and daughters visited today as well.

I am sorry if I got this wrong. My understanding of Danish sucks. I think I have read today at the BT site that there was a 21 gun salute for the princess at Kronborg Slot.

Is any news in Denmark speculating on specific likely names for the princess? Has the christening been assigned to a date?

That's interesting UserDane. So you think they will end up changing it after all. I guess I was assuming that they might not since Christian was born first. But like you say should and if Fred and Mary ever have another boy he jumps in front of his older sister. I imagine that would not sit to well with many and likely wouldn't sit to well with the current queen. I understand the queen doesn't have political power or anything but you have to assume that she will want to try to talk to and convince whoever she can that this needs to be changed. I have to imagine she's certainly on the side of this little girl.

But actually I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that this wasn't changed long before Fred ever got married like it was in Norway. I would have thought in the early nineties when Norway was changing their succession law that Denmark would have quickly followed.

The people want it changed, but the problem has been that to many politicians have seen as an excellent opportunity to fiddle with the constitution. People does not want that. However the government is now moving forward with a change that only changes what needs to be changed eg. the Succession law, which is tied to the constitution.

Oh, I see! Those darn politicians are trying to take advantage of the situation, I get it.

P.s. Thanks to everyone that has been willing to share and inform about this subject. Learning things like this is really very fascinating to me.

Is it only me? I found the whole birth for so far, from what I have seen on internet and in pictures, poorly organized. I don't know. It is all so chaotic and done with no any decorum at all.

I'm a bit surprised about this. You would expect the Danish Court taking it's grip on it. Of course I would not get back to the years that an uniformed Prince walks with an infant in his arms and shows the newborn to the authorities, making deep and revered bows.

But this really looks like a chaos. I'm not sure what to think about this. Is this the 'Elvis is alive!' show or is this the birth of a royal infant? Of course I can be terribly wrong and there is no any mess, chaos, the Queen and the Prince trapped in between photographers, etc. The Prince in bleached jeans, just in a hallway, caught in flashlights, dunno.... This was more 'entertainment' than 'royal' for me.

My impression can be totally wrong, of course.

Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't the baby born too early? That might explain the chaos....

In Spain, according to said the Real House, the little princess wont born until first of May and everything already is perfectly organized since one or two weeks because nobody ruled out the possibility that the birth get ahead.

Could explain further what you mean by "chaos" ?
The Prince in bleached jeans ? Beige jeans for men are in fashion these days .. I don't understand, what you have against Frederik's attire yesterday. He was wearing these clothes, when his wife gave birth to their babygirl, and the danish tradition is that the father goes down to the press and tells about it all, does the hand gesture with the length of the baby. That's obvioustly the danish way of doing it. What is the problem ?

I have not seen any chaos, so far everthing went absolutely normal,
in (almost) exactly the same way as it has when Christian was born.
The baby was born, the hospital team said they were pepared,
Frederik gave a brief interview shortly after the birth
(so most probably was wearing what he was wearing during the birth, just my guess of course),
there was a canon salute at noon today, tommorrow the couple will leave the hospital
and present their daughter to the press (Frederik will most probably wear a suit
as he did when they left the hospital with Christian in 2005).
Here is some info about the decorum at a royal birth. Kongehuset - Aktuelt - Nyheder

It's the Danish way and I think you will have to wait a long time to see the Danish doing things in a Dutch way.

Btw I personally think the Dutch decorum seems ridiculously patriarchalic,
as if the mother has nothing to do with the whole thing.
But I guess in the Netherlands with its line of queens the man were so unimportant
and had so little to do that the protocol people probably said:
Let's give them a major role at royal births.
