Prince William and Catherine Middleton: Church Service - April 29, 2011

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Please please please does anyone have the full coverage of the wedding available for download ? Not just the ceremony, I'd like everything that was aired. I heard the British coverage was very long.

Check the Royal Chanel on YouTube. They had the live coverage up on there for a while.

:flowers: I like de organized a celebration a Wedding a William and Catherine and her Dress so very prety, modern and classic

Hey guys, which did you prefer Kate or Diana's march down the aisle music?

Kate's, definitely. I discern the hand of the Prince of Wales in this ....

Especially since he touted a long BBC4 tv programme on Hubert Parry, the composer of much of the music.

The close up of Kate in the military style dress/coat is a bit disappointing in the way it is so poorly fitted through the torso. It's too small and it pulls! Also, brooches with stems should always be worn stem up.

She still looks nice, tho.

Actually since I figure eventually the wedding pages will be too far back for most people to search for, I decided to just post the individual links of the photos I've never seen before from the wedding(including the service the guests, arrivals, departures and pre-wedding events) Some of these also include pics we have seen before but in different angles.

So with all those huge hats, do you think all the guests could see what was going on, or did some have such an obstructed view that they were playing games on their iPods?

Won't it be a bit tricky to play a game on one's iPod when electronic devices were not permitted in the Abbey? Then again, if no one bothered to check bags, the said devices could be snuck in, kind of like small voice recorders are snuck into theatres and concerts. The ushers don't bother checking bags, so it's quite easy to make bootleg recordings.

Perhaps that "rule" isn't followed any more. I'm not bothered one way or the other.

Do people really care about unimportant details anymore?

I can understand the "angst" about Kate losing weight, but who cares about fripperies ? (Lovely word...)

I have two questions about the wedding. The first one regards the order of precedence in the seating of royal guests at the Abbey, and the second question (which has two parts) relates to the liturgy itself.

1. It makes sense that reigning monarchs were sitting in the first row of royal guests: Margrethe of Denmark, the Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg, the King and Queen of Norway. If I have it right, I believe that they were seated in order of oldest to youngest monarchy (i.e., Denmark is the oldest, so Queen Margrethe got the best seat). After the reigning monarchs, the Crown Princely couples were seated... but why were Philip and Mathilde of Belgium seated in the first row and given precedence over Willem-Alexander and Maxima of the Netherlands? If I have my dates right, the House of Orange-Nassau has reigned in Holland since 1815, whereas the Belgian monarchy was not instituted until 1830. Is it because the Belgian royal family is from the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and therefore "family" of Queen Elizabeth II? Also, the Bourbons of Spain - who have ruled since 1700 - were seated after the Belgian and the Dutch crown princely couples. It was also interesting to see that Queen Sofia of Spain - a Queen Consort but nevertheless a Queen - was seated with her son, Prince Felipe, and his wife, rather than in the first row. Any clues as to what aspects of protocol might have shaped the seating arrangement in this way?

2. I am reasonably well acquainted with - and very interested in - Anglican/Episcopal liturgical practice, and I was surprised to see that at the end of the service:
(a) the bride and groom processed out of the Abbey after the clergy, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, and
(b) the congregation remained seated when the Cross was processing out of the Abbey, but everyone stood for the bride and groom at the end.
I'll confess that I found both of these things somewhat shocking, as they give human beings (in this case the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, whom I find lovely but who are still mere mortals) precedence over God.

I'd be very grateful to anyone who could address any of these questions!

The lighting does look a bit dark in the photos but under the spot lights the dress is shown off beautifully. One can get a closer look at all the splendid lace detail and of course the back of the dress with all the buttons. Really lovely. What a labour that must have been but then again a wonderful signature statement from a very talented British designer.

I have a question re some potential guests at the wedding. We all know that Laura Lopes's daughter was one of the little flower girls, but does anyone know if Laura and her husband, and Tom Parker Bowles and his wife were at the wedding. I have not so far seen any photographic evidence of either of them and their spouses there which would be very unusual would it not. They are after all Camilla's children and step brother and sister to William.

Another one I was wondering about is Princess Alexandra's daughter, Marina Mowatt. While Princess Alexandra was very obvious in her presence along with her son, there was no mention or sight of her daughter, who of course many years ago had become something of a black sheep in the family due to her pregnancy and marriage.

:previous:I think it's been established that Laura and Tom and their respective spouses were there, but there are no pictures of them (probably because no one really knew who they were and focused on more high-profile guests). With regards to Marina, the selected guest list has her on it -after Mr. and Mrs. James Ogilvy but before The Lady Saltoun. But if you look at the video of the wedding when William and Harry walk to the aisle, in the back row of the BRF section, you can see Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, Lady Gabriella Windsor, the Ogilvys, and then Lady Saltoun. If Marina was there I would think she would have been next to her brother. Mysterious...

I'd just like to say that I have recently watched all the Royal Wedding coverage again and I have enjoyed it so much. I had the same excitement for everything that I had on April 29. I was really struck by the very religious nature of the service. Yes it was solemn and maybe even a tad boring, but I was not expecting to be entertained in the sense that the Wedding was some sort of circus. Unfortunately, I think the media hyped this one up too much saying how "different" and "modern" the Wedding was going to be. To me, the service was nearly exactly the same as it was when I watched the weddings of Margaret, Anne, Charles, Andrew, and Edward. If people were expecting something outside the norm, then I can understand how one could be disappointed.

I love this image. It's such a sweet moment between the two of them. It's possibly my favourite moment of the wedding, particularly when you can see him say something about looking beautiful. It is almost as cute as Edward's wink to Sophie on their wedding day. (That is by far the sweetest moment.) They were just such nice moments between two people, during a huge occasion. Showed the little moment when it was just the two of them. You can see from that how happy William is.

Catherine has such beautiful hair, damn.

I am so happy for the both of them to have married their true love, I hope their love lasts like the queen's.

I really think it will and probably was put best by Charles when he stated "they've been practicing long enough". :D
