Wedding of Prince Rainer and Princess Grace looked in Monaco on April 15th 1956. She looked so elegant and a good choice of wedding gowns. I don't think another Royal bride will look as elegant as she did, with the exception of Princess Maxima. Does anyone know who designed it?

Oh, thank you MihoshiMarie! What a lovely photograph. Finding color photographs of the wedding is a bit difficult and I always had a different idea of what color Grace's gown was. I always thought it was more to the cream or "candlelight" than true white. Her hair is also a great deal darker than I originally thought.

1956: Prince Rainier marries Grace Kelly Prince Rainier III of Monaco has married the film actress Grace Kelly. A civil ceremony was held in the throne room in the Palace of Monaco today. The ceremony, conducted by the president of the Monaco Supreme Court, was attended by the couple's close family and friends. Miss Kelly, wearing a beige, lace dress with a close-fitting hat, was noticeably nervous throughout the proceedings. Nuptial Mass Following the legal formalities the couple made a short appearance on the balcony of the palace where approximately 500 members of the public waited below. The newly-married couple, surrounded by an abundance of red and white flowers, waved to the crowds for just a couple of minutes before they returned inside the palace. The marriage ceremonies are due to be completed tomorrow at the celebration of the Nuptial Mass in the Cathedral of Monaco, after which the couple are expected to drive through the streets of Monte Carlo in an open top car. The couple, who announced their engagement in January, will spend their honeymoon cruising around the Mediterranean aboard Prince Rainier's yacht, Deo Juvante II. here is a video

I read that just a few royals attended this wedding:
Aga Khan - HH Prince Karim Egypt - HM King Farouk II Great-Britain - HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor (former King Edward VIII) Italy - HM King Umberto II (Both the Egyptian and the Italian monarchs were exiled at that time). The European Royal Families were represented. I would like to see pictures of these four royals who were present in the Cathedral of St. Nicolas, in Monaco, in 1953

When: April 19, 1954 Where: St. Nicholas Cathedral, Monaco The Event: Though Prince Rainier and Princess Grace were officially married in a civil ceremony on April 18, the religious ceremony the following day, billed "The Wedding of the Century", is the event that 30 million viewers watched on television. Following Monaco tradition, Grace, escorted by her father, was the first to walk down the aisle. The Prince came last, wearing a Napoleonic military-style uniform, which he designed himself. The Dress: A wedding gift from MGM Studios, Grace Kelly's wedding dress was designed by MGM's head costume designer, Helen Rose. The high-necked gown was created from four hundred and fifty yards of Brussels rose-point lace and silk taffeta, while her veil was embroidered with pearls and orange blossoms, and she carried a small Bible and her lilies-of-the-valley bouquet. The Reception: Seven hundred guests attended a reception in the Palace Court of Honor. The bride and groom cut the six-tier wedding cake with the Prince's sword. Special Moments: On April 18, after they were officially married in the civil ceremony, Grace and Rainier held a reception for the 3,000 citizens for Monaco.
