Well the article from wort.lu says it's going to be a private event so I don't think we'll see a large royal turnout.

yes but the belgian royal family are direct cousins with the grand ducal family so.. even though it is a very intimate celebration I think they will be present.. prince philippe is henry's first cousin!

Oh, I didn't know that Philippe was Henry's first cousin (I'm a new Lux fan) and now I do see why Mathilde could be there, and even the other Belgian royals. But as far as saying "I don't think we'll see a large royal turnout" I guess I can stick to that...unless there are more direct cousins I should know about.

I think that the Belgian royals would be there, but that's just my thought.

I would be surprised if any Belgian royal would attend, let alone members of other royal houses. I think the Luxembourg family wants to keep this marriage as private as possible. I remember that at the baptism of little Gabriel not even one of the Grand Dukes siblings attended!

Some of the siblings of Grand Duke Henri will be there: Princess Marie-Astrid and her family, Princess Margaretha and her family and Prince Guillaume with his family (but Prince Jean will be missing).

All the siblings of Prince Louis will be there, and Grand Duke Jean.

I don't think there will be many honour guests, they try to keep it as private as possible, RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg will only broadcast a summary of the event and not showing it live.

Now that the wedding is here there is all the discussion about all the other royals not attending because the family want to keep it small & private. Definitely understandable. I'm sure that the Grand Ducal family also understands that the expense and spectacle of a large formal wedding would be viewed as inappropriate under the circumstances.

Admittedly, their wedding was very low-key in comparison to others in the family-including his first wedding, but I wonder if the marriage would have happened at all or had the support that it eventually did if Charles and Camilla had created a child. What would the British Royal Family and the extended group of royals have thought/done in that circumstance?

And does the fact that Louis is not the direct heir make it more acceptable for the out-of-wedlock birth and now marriage?

Prince Louis, the 20-year-old son of Grand Duke Henri of Luzembourg, marries commoner Tessy Antony on Friday in a low-key church service, seven months after their first child was born.

The Grand Duchy's royal palace said the ceremony would take place "in a restrained family circle" of guests at the parish church of Gilsdorf, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of the city of Luxembourg, at the church where Louis and his girlfriend Tessy christened their son, Gabriel, who was born March 12 in Geneva.

wow Tessy!!! what a beauthy...and what a wonderfull dress!!

Thank you for sharing, Danielane!

Oh so sweet. Grandma leaves the church carrying the baby.

And Grand Duchess looks like she has been crying.
They all looked so well (my transmission is over now, the images started in gree and upside down). Prince Louis looks happy and joyful, Tessy looks overwhelming but happy, Grand Duchess is glowing holdinh her gandson and calling his attention to people... Everyone looks very elegant.

Oh, my I just love weddings!!

regards,
mtbcm :)

Tessy looks wonderful! She is a radiant bride. I hope they have many, many happy years together.

As a side note, doesn't Alexandra get prettier every time we see her?

Tessy wearing white. How novel.

Don't be mean ;) I think she looks very beautiful. And young!

I have heard Tessy's dad is a keen socialist and municipality-level politician, and against monarchy - I wonder what his thoughts are? The royal family has put up their best faces, but he looks like he still needs convincing.

I can almost hear Josephine-Charlotte spinning. She quite unashamedly gets married in white, the baby's there at the wedding, her father's an outspoken republican - wonderful stuff. Although at least we know she's intelligent. She certainly knew the way to bag herself a Prince.
