Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg & Sibilla Weiller: September 8 and 24, 1994

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
A nice bride with a nic dress. Valentino did a great job creating the dresses of Maxima and Sibilla.

I never really liked Maxima's dress...too matronly I think.

This one is a lot better, although I don't like the lowest part, but for the rest it's gorgeous, just like that beautiful ancient veil.

I think Sibilla has this very soft, feminine look. She could play mother Mary in a film ;)

The pre-wedding reception took place at the Jacquemart André museum on September 23, 1994.

I agree that the lower part spoiled the dress, which would be beautiful if it hadn't that big ruffle. What I like the most is the gorgeous veil.

On 24th September 1994, prince Guillaume of Luxemburg got married to miss Sibilla Weiler in Paris.

The bride wore a gown created by Valentino.

Why did they get married in Paris? Rather than Luxembourg? Is Princess Sibilla's family from Paris?

Is there more information on this wedding?

I can't really tell from the pictures. Did Sybilla wear a tiara, I think the other brides in the royal family wore the belgian congo tiara. But I agree to top part of her dress and her veil were gorgeous!

Some details on this wedding from Hola magazine (Alexandria:) feel free to remove this message to the adequate board http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=219266&postcount=49)

This wedding was attended by
  • Five Queens (Q. Sofia of Spain, Q. Paola of Belgium, Q. Fabiola of Belgium, Q. Sonja of Norway and Q. Anne-Marie of Greece),
  • One Empress (Farah Pahlevi),
  • One King (King Albert of Belgium),
  • Two reigning Princes (Hans Adam of Lichetenstein and Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg),
  • Nine Heirs to the Trone (Felipe of Belgium, Alois of Lichtenstein, William Alexandre, Haakon Magnus of Norway, Frederik of Denmark, Victoria of Sweden and Henri of Luxembourg, Prince of Jordan and Prince of Morocco) and
  • Six Infantas of Spain (Beatriz and Cristina de Borbón - daughters of Alfonso XIII, Pilar and Margarita de Borbón - daughters of Count of Barcelona and sisters of King of Spain and Elena and Cristina daughters of Kings of Spain) and
  • some more princes and princess that are not heirs to the thrones.
Sibilla Weiller is a great grand-daughter of King Alfonso XIII.

The wedding had 1200 guests.

The wedding was in Saint Louis Cathedral and was attended by all european royality. The cerimony was presided by the Archibishop of Luxembourg.

Valentino seemed the official desiner of wedding, since he designed Sibilla's wedding gown, Queen Sofia's, Princess Maria-Teresa of Luxembourg's, the Empress Farah Pahlevi's and Rosario Nadal's outfits.

Prince Jean of Luxembourg was the responsible for reading Apostol Saint Paul to the Corinthians. The Childrens Choir of Versailles sang during the cerimony "Ave Maria" of Schubert, "Pater Noster" of Rimsky Korsakov and in the end "Magnificat".

After the cerimony the couple and guests went to Noviciat, at the Hermitage Street in Versailles, to attend the banquet.

A small but sweet detail: almost all the guests used in their outfits a golden pin made specially for the occasion. The pin is composed by the letters G and S, initials of groom and bride.

That pouffy thing at the bottom is just awful. Otherwise, she was lovely.

She is my favourite royal bride... she just looks so naturally beautiful!

That is strage that the wedding wasnt in Luxembourg... anyone know why?

I was wondering that too… both the civil wedding (in Sélestat) and the religious ceremony (in Versailles) took place in France… perhaps because the bride is French?

I assume the background of the bride was the reason indeed. But it is strange still for a dynastic marriage, as for example Prince Joachims first marriage also didn't take part in Hong Kong.

I really like her gown, especially her veil~
