2. Official portrait with the close family
3. Official photo of Albert and Paola
4. During the religious ceremony
5. In the car, waving (I know it's a distant picture, but here Paola reminds me of Mathilde on her wedding day).

Paola's beautiful lace veil is an ancient family piece. It was first worn by her grandmother, Laura Mosselman du Chenoy, a Belgian (!) aristocrat. After Paola, it was also used by Astrid, Mathilde and Claire on their wedding day.

3. Princess Lilian, prince Albert, princess Paola, countess Luisa Gazelli (Paola's mother), Leopold III, princess Marie-Christine.

As you can see, Paola didn't wear a tiara, she wore flowers in her hair.

Thanks for all these great pictures Cathérine! (And to Chris, too!)

I especially love the picture of Paola at the top of this page. Paola looks so young and fresh and beautiful beyond words!

I had no idea that was Queen Paola's veil. It is beautiful and it must be very well cared for. It still looks lovely after 45 years. Thanks for those wonderful pictures! More! More!:D

Actually it's a lot older than 45 years :)

It's an 19th century veil.

A few more photos

Thank you Catherine. Paola was such a stunning beauty!!! She reminds me of stars as Claudia Cardinale, Sophia Loren etc.

Great pictures! Thanks for posting.

I have never been a fan of her wedding dress, and I dislike it even more every time I see it. It just looks very ill-fitting and seems to swallow her whole.

At the time she was often compared to them in magazines.

More photos from the engagement (Jour de France, Paris Match - thanks to Chris for sending them!)

A few days before the wedding, Paola put on her wedding dress to practice walking in it... (Jour de France & Paris Match - Thanks to Chris for sending them!)

Wonderful pictures

Queen paola was certianly one of the most beautiful brides whatsoever!!!

That veil is truly magnificent. Did Princess Paola wear a tiara or flowers in her hair? I cannot tell.

I think I once heard that she had lily's of the valey in her hair.

I am not crazy about Paola's gown, but her tiara was lovely and she looked like an angel from Heaven.

Such a beautiful, beautiful young woman!
