Translation of announcement from BRMB, posted by Netty
----------------------------------------
Translation (apart from the biographies of the grooms that can already be found more extensive at the website of the royal family):
The government information service announces that His Highness Prince Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje-Nassau, van Vollenhoven has just made known his intention to marry Ms A.T. van Eijk in August. Also His Highness Prince Floris van Oranje-Nassau, van Vollenhoven has just made known his intention to marry Ms A.L.A.M. Söhngen in October. Prince Pieter-Christiaan is the third son and Prince Floris the fourth and youngest son of Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and Mr Pieter van Vollenhoven.
His Highness Prince Pieter-Christiaan and His Highness Prince Floris have both asked the government not to introduce a permission law in the sense of article 28 of the Constitution at the States General. The government has decided to respect this wish, also paying attention to the place of the prince in the line of succession.
Anita Theodora van Eijk is the second daughter of ir. (engineer) L.A. van Eijk and Mrs J.C.M. van Eijk-Steens. Anita van Eijk was born on 27 October 1969 at Neuchâtel (Switzerland). She has an elder sister Caroline; her younger brother died when she was sixteen. She followed secondary school in Singapore and the Netherlands. Anita van Eijk got her international Baccalaureate at the Rijnlands Lyceum in Oegstgeest. In 1990 she started studying English language and literature at the University of Leiden. After her propaedeutics she started the study communication science at the University of Amsterdam where she graduated in 1996. In 1997 Anita van Eijk started working for Bloomberg in Amsterdam and was sent to London where she worked at the department Sales/Marketing and TV production. In London she afterwards worked at Christie's at the marketing department and at JPMorgan in several management functions. Anita van Eijk now establishes herself in the Netherlands as self-employed person. Aimée Leonie Allegonde Marie Söhngen was born on 18 October 1977 in
Amsterdam and is the eldest daughter of Mr J.H.M. Söhngen and Mrs E.L.F.M. Söhngen-Stammeijer. She has a younger brother Hans, and sister Magali, and was raised in Bussum and Naarden. In 1996 she received her gymnasium diploma at the Willem de Zwijger College in Bussum. She graduated at the University of Leiden in 2002 in business law. After her study she started working for Fortis Bank as management trainee. In the meantime she is projectmanager at Fortis Bank.

As an awnser to you Alexandria: they will not ask permission to the goverment because the royal house is large enough as it is. I believe the RF wants to downsize the Royal House. When Maurits and Bernhard married, none of Beatrix lot was married, so it was important that they would remain members of the Royal House (no one knew what the future would bring), now the royal house has grown substantialy and even more members could become a burden.
----
All Margriets daughter-in-laws could pass like sisters, and Margriet could easily pass as their mother! I think that Aimee is attractive, beautiful eyes. Now all the dutch princes will be married, all to very highly educated & intelligent women, bravo to them!

It may be a Happy Year for Dutch Royals together with the celebrations of Queen Beatrix's Silver Jubilee.

Wow, this is great news! I really like the double engagement announcement. The Dutch royals sure do have a busy few months ahead of them, huh? And Princess Margriet must be tickled pink. First the birth of a new grandchild and then her two sons are getting married.

And it wasn't so long ago that the main educational qualification for Princesses was Art History. These two Princesses-to-be sound quite formidable!

I'm not able to attach images from my computer, but there are more pictures at Fotomarktplatz if someone wants to place them here.

Additional pictures of the engagement. Aimee and Anita are flashing those rings to the cameras, but not a close enough look at them. In the third picture of Floris and Aimee the ring does look very shiny though. I'm sure the van Vollenhoven boys didn't skimp on their girlfriend's engagement rings! From the Benelux Royals MB:
Quote:
Anita and Pieter-Christiaan met each other in London. Being both employed at a bank they soon became a 'bankstel' according to PC. A 'bankstel' is Dutch for lounge suite (sofa plus chairs). But a 'bank' can also be Dutch for bank and a 'stel' is Dutch for a couple. Pieter-Christiaan proposed to Anita on the roof of Het Loo Palace.
Floris met Aimée in Leyden. First time he saw her he thought that she was IT. Love at first sight? Dad Pieter said that the family was 'sold out' now...

More pictures from yesterday's engagement announcement at Het Loo, courtesy of Seegerpress.
Princess Margriet looks pleased as punch over her new daughter-in-laws. Hope that we'll get to see new family portraits of the (new) Van Vollenhoven family soon, especially one with Margriet and her look-a-like daughter-in-laws!
