He looks like he's having a splendid time with his mom and dad! I think one of the best parts of this wedding was seeing Victoria's god-children as attendants in her bridal party.

What you have missed is that this is essentially a "family" wedding and every family has it's own traditions.

When you are a Royal Princess and Heir to the Thone you do not hie off to the latest "fave" Hollywood designer for the most expensive overblown wedding meringue dress! Neither do you dive into the family jewels vault for the bigest and best sparkly jewels and heap them on just to prove you are royal!

No. You go to one of your country's best designers and get "a gown designed by Pär Engsheden, made of pearl white silk duchesse, and described in news releases as short-sleeved with an external collar. Regal and elegant. Tres chic!

You then lovingly adorn your head with the Cameo Tiara, “Once owned by Napoleon’s Empress Josephine, it came to the Swedish royal family when Josephine’s granddaughter Josefina married the future King Oscar I in 1823. The pearl-covered diadem, heightened by seven cameos depicting mythological figures, has become traditional bridal headgear in the House of Bernadotte. Victoria’s mother, Queen Silvia, wore it on her own wedding day on June 19, 1976.”

Then you affix a vintage lace veil, also worn by your mother on her wedding day to the tiara and you have a real Princess! Beautiful, elegant, glowing with love. A born and bred Royal Princess who gets to marry the man she loves and is made a Prince by his marriage, and who also, upon the occasion of his marriage, became a Knight of the Order of the Seraphim, the Order of which he wore on leaving the Cathedral.

I think the part I loved the most about Daniel's speech is that it was so heartwarming and personal.

I could picture Victoria sitting up half the night and writing 30 love letters for Daniel to read for each day she was to be gone. Any woman that would be that conscientious about what her man would be feeling in her absence to me most likely would be the same way as Queen of her realm. I think Sweden is blessed to have these two wonderful people.

These two so much remind me of another royal romance where you KNEW the two of them were so in love... Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

The entire wedding was sheer bliss......the TOTAL LOVE these two have for each other was just so palpable....and says a lot when you have to go all the way to Albert and Victoria to find a similar situation. I also don't think I have seen a more beautiful bride on the day. She was perfection in every single way. Sweden should be very very proud to have these two wonderful people represent them.

Of all the crown princesses dresses of recent years, Victoria's dress reminded me the most of Maxima's dress: Simple and regal.

I thought the same thing. And of course I had to go look at WA and Maxima's wedding thread lol. I just really loved how simple Victoria's, and Maxima's, dress was. That way everyone could focus on how happy and in love these two lovely brides were on their respective wedding days. Geez I just can't get over how lovely and emotional this wedding was. CP Victoria and Prince Daniel (boy that was fun to type lol) seem so genuine and accessible, so down-to-earth.

Well ... In the best of my knowledge ALL royals events/ceremonies that Caroline attended since 1998/1999 was as an ESCORT/Princess consort of Hannover.

Since the weddings of Crown Princes to Queen Mother's funeral & others Royals Events, she was as the Princess of Hannover NOT scort of Crown Prince Albert of Monaco.

I remember the only time that Caroline was a companion of Albert in a Royal Event was the anniversary of King of Sweden.

a "wedding medal". But I was curious also about Daniel's father having

The little blond girl next to Amalia is Vera Blom, Daniel's niece (and now Victoria's). The tallest girl next to Victoria is I believe Hedvig Blom, Vera's sister.

Can anyone explain who these women were and what their significance was? For instance, one of them followed Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederick along the carpet to the cathedral before the wedding. I saw several others at various points during the day and evening.

It was answered by somebody else, and I shall repeat it because I didn't know either, that the women in question are ladies in waiting for the Swedish Court and that outfit is court dress.

This is true love. Victoria looks SO happy! They look so much in love. They kissed like a hundred times in front of everyone unlike other royals who don't like to show their love in public. Letizia looked so washed out and so fragile! Not a good color for her. She also looked very out of place.

I agree with you, Daniel can be a valuable asset to his country seeing that he is a victim of Kidney illness: he can become a pioneer for Dialysis Patients bringing further attention to this crippling illness to the world.

Princess Victoria's designer/dressmaker and makeup person should be congratulated. They did an excellent job. All the invited ladies and men looked well attired. No one outshone the Bride she stood tall, the dress suited the season, it fitted her like hand in a glove, the entire event was in the superlative. Good luck to Victoria and Daniel I think his father was very instrumental and very shrewed in giving his son direction. At long last both Victoria and Daniel are bonded they both experience bompy roads. Life has its thorns.

This is the information given by the Royal Court about the Cameo Tiara - it was made in the early 1800s, and has been worn by several Swedish royal brides over the past 100+ years

The Cameo Tiara
The word "cameo" means a precious stone decorated in raised relief. The tiara is made of gold, pearls and cameos. The central cameo depicts Cupid and Psyche from Greek mythology.The seven cameos were not originally carved for the tiara, as can be seen in their different shapes and colours.
The cameo tiara was also worn by Queen Silvia at the royal wedding on 19 June 1976.
The Crown Princess is therefore continuing a tradition started by Princess Birgitta. She was the first Haga Princes to marry, and chose the cameo tiara for her wedding in 1961 to Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern.
Princess Désirée also chose the same tiara as her bridal crown when she married Baron Niclas Silfverschiöld in 1964.


Queen Josefina's Legacy
The tiara was probably a gift from Napoleon to his wife, Empress Josephine, in 1809. It was made at the Nitot studio in Paris.The empress bequeathed the tiara to her granddaughter Josefina who, on 19 June 1823, became the Crown Princess of Sweden when she married Crown Prince Oscar (the future King Oscar I).
With the next generation of the Bernadotte dynasty, the tiara was owned by Queen Josefina's daughter Princess Eugénie, who in turn left the tiara to her nephew Prince Eugen.
The prince gave the tiara to Princess Sibylla on her marriage to Prince Gustaf Adolf in 1932. The King was left the tiara by his mother.
