Wow! What a beautiful wedding! The bride was gorgeous! From now on i'll be a huge fan of Victoria and Daniel.
All the best from Romania!
Casa de piatra!

It was a wonderful wedding and everything was very Swedish (in a good way) A quite short church servise (a "normal" wedding is about 40-45 min) and the archbishops marriage sermon was v good and from Rom 12:9-18 (Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. )

But I must confess Im a little disappointed because I was expecting more from mr Engsheden. The dress was OK (and much better than Silvias wedding dress) but I think longer sleeves is needed to get the real regal look...

And when it comes to the tiara and the hair, she was just a bad copy of her mother at the wedding 1976 :ermm:

Don't misunderstand me...Im a big fan of the cameo tiara and I think that piece is perfect as a wedding crown, but it suites her mother much better. The way Victoria wore it, it resembled of a chef hat ;) ... And I think she would have looked much better in a softer hairstyle...

But the speeches at the dinner.... wow... soooo gooood! The King was so sweet when he spoke to and gave the rose to Silvia! ( and then he said what he was expected to say). Mr Westlings speech was brilliant and Prince Daniel stole everybodys heart with his speech!

What a wonderfull wedding.
I loved to see the way they interact. They are a really charming couple.

Of all the crown princesses dresses of recent years, Victoria's dress reminded me the most of Maxima's dress: Simple and regal.

Yes, or they might start calling her Charlene Wait-stock.:flowers:
It's a pity that someone didnt loan her a tiara for the day, though.
(Miss Axelson was able to get one !)

The situation between Carina and Gustav and Albert and Charlene is completely different.

I love seeing 'Prince Daniel' on the threads! Congratulations to the couple again!

That was the most elegant and beautiful wedding! Victoria looked absolutely breathtaking. Her dress was simple in design, but very classy and regal. Very Victoria IMO. The cameo tiara is beyond stunning and I think was the perfect choice for her. I love the elegant way she wore the lace train with the tiara. I loved everything about this wedding, and IMO it will go down as one of the most beautiful cermonies I have seen. Victoria's glowing face, gentle touches and gestures towards Daniel, and the obvious love and deep commitement between the two of them made the day truly magical. I have never seen a Royal couple display so much happiness and be so open with their love and affection. I had tears in my eyes constantly.

Sweden, you should be proud of this day and of your Crown Princess who is so very warm hearted and caring. Although the expense may rankle many, this historical event showcased Sweden in a very special way. We all fell in love with your Crown Princess who is so obviously a remarkable woman. She will make a wonderful Queen some day. That wonderful warmth and love she exudes will be a tremendous assit to the people of Sweden.

I was gone all weekend away from TV/internet so I didn't get to see the live happenings. Victoria looked absolutely stunning and after all the kerfluffle over the King escorting her to the altar I have to say that was such a sweet moment for them, probably my favorite. Looks like Daniel has really endeared himself to the whole royal family and the Swedish people in general. I hope they have a great relaxing honeymoon and a long happy life together!:flowers:

Why Spain's king don't go to the Sweden?
He doesn't usually go to weddings out of his country. Queen Elizabeth II hasn't attended any for years outside of her country.

I didn't think the Queen would've gone to Victoria's wedding, but I certainly thought she would've sent more than just Edward and Sophie. I find that...kind of odd for some reason. I absolutely LOVED Daniel's speech! I wanted to cry! Victoria made a good choice. I wish them nothing but the best.

:swedenflag: Congratulations to Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden! :swedenflag:

I am sure it has been said somewhere in here...BUT WHAT THE HECK WAS PRINCESS MABEL WEARING?!?!!??!??!!?? My goodness, she looked like a hooker with a tiara!

How nice it is to see "Prince Daniel" in the topic subject line! :flowers:

Prince Edward and Sophie have attended every royal heir wedding.
Charles has attended 2 out of them. He has ha a chest infection for possible the past 2-3 weeks.

This is going to sound strange...but I hope no one finds out where they went until they get back. They deserve some good quiet private time together. I would hate for that to be spoiled because someone spilled the beans and the press found them out.

Yes I agree with you, especially the white tulle that was missing from her skirt's left part! Maybe she thought that no one will be dressed alike, so she will out-shown them all!

I agree totally! While it would be nice to have some pictures they have earned this time together - AND ALONE! Their whole future will be in the public spotlight.

Somewhere I read way back in this thread that while she was dressing there was an accident and her dress was torn beyond quick repair. What she wore was a "quick fix". I just can't believe, though, that she hadn't brought along a backup outfit just for this sort of emergency!

Really, I could understand slightly if the dress has been ripped like that. But the edges on the remaining material looked fine not torn or anything. :ermm:
But yes to not have a back up for such an event is stupid.

A very expensively dressed hooker at that. ;)

From what I have read about Princess Mabel..she is a little...out there, to say the least. Given her past controversies. Who knows? In her mind, she thought she was tasteful and elegant. I am sure HM Queen Beatrix had something to say once she saw that outfit. HM is known to be a little more conservative in such a manner.

I agree with you all. If your dress rips and cannot be fixed in time, have a back up to such an occasion. It was just in such poor taste to wear that outfit. Nothing to cover her shoulders and dress pants that meant she could have gone to some business meeting right after.

Maxima really stands out against all the female members of the Dutch Royal Family. HM's dress is horrible. It is like sofa slip cover with ruffles. She really has no taste at all. Laurentien...well, between this one, which would have been better without the Santa Clause sash and the one she wore to Frederick's wedding without a bra....messy, messy, messy.

 I must say i'm much disappointed with P. Albert. HOW does he DARE to attend the wedding with Miss Wisttock instead lof P. Caroline?:angry:  She's not his wife, therefore, she's no royalty, she's not EVEN his formal fiancée... Oh i feel so sad...

Princess Caroline was not invited.
Charlene Wittstock was.
I don't think PA had a choice.
There were other people at that wedding, and sat with royalty who weren't royals.
I see nothing wrong with it and I am ever so glad she came.

Whatever makes you think Charlene was invited? Did I miss something?

OF COURSE ALBERT HAD A CHOICE, to think otherwise is quite silly.

I have no problem with Charlene being there. Tatiana Blatnik has been attending events with Nikolaos for many years, before they were engaged, and there was no problem. To me, it does not matter if they are married or engaged. If Albert wants to bring Charlene, he can bring Charlene.

Some people need to just get over themselves.

Well she was on the invitation list, so I would assume she would have got a seperate invite.
Albert cannot bring someone who was not invited to the wedding can he?
Like I said, i am very glad she came to the event.

Charlene Wittstock is her name. I'm so glad that people are commenting on her , because she has been slatted a lot recently. I hope those two will be the next royal wedding.

Charlene has the misfortune of being the apparent successor to Grace Kelly. Nobody can compete with that! Regardless of how well she behaves or dresses, critics will descend on her and size her up using Princess Grace as a standard -- a totally win-less situation.

Also, I presume royal watchers are slightly disappointed that Prince Albert took her instead of his sister Caroline, who has inherited her mother's star appeal. If Caroline attended, I believe a lot more talk on and pictures of Monaco's royals would have been present in this thread.

Honestly, I wish Albert took Princess Stephanie instead. That would have been intriguing. She has not attended such royal events, and with her hands-on work involving AIDS charities, she has proven to be a significant ambassador for the Principality.

With that said, Charlene looked elegant and chic. She has good posture, and wore tasteful jewelry. She wore the gown; in some cases in this event, the gowns and jewelry wore and overwhelmed the ladies.

I assumed that the way the invites work is like this:

Prince Albert and GUEST are invited, he chooses who he invites. That's how regular weddings work, so I always assumed thats how the royal weddings work. The RSVP would say Albert and Charlene, which is why she was on the guest list.

First of all she was invited and he can take whomever he pleases. Secondly, what makes anyone there, better than she. Nothing. This royalty thing is nonsense. Thirdly, take a good look. Leitiza of Spain was previosuly married and a news reporter, Maxima was in finance in New York, Maria Theresa is from Cuban folks, Mary was a real estate agent, Mette-Marit was an unwed mother, Sonja's father was a grocer, I believe, Silvia was a translator and for a short time an airline stewardess, Sophie Wessex was in advertising. They all seem to be very nice people and just as nice as their "royal" counterparts.

But that would mean that when she would be down on the confirmed invitee list, she would be next to PA and listed as his guest.
She was just listed as Ms Charlene Wittstock.
