This reminds me that Crown Prince Filipe (and Ari Behn if I'm not mistaken) stood at the alter on his own.
Yes, CP was standing alone at the altar but the media just didn't show...one of his cousins, possibly Juan Filiberto Gomez-Acebo, was his best man and was standing also...just off to the side.

In the catholic weddings there is no best man , is the mother who accompanies the groom, and the father who accompanies the bride.

That may be true only in Spain, possibly?. I am Catholic but have also attended many Protestant and Catholic weddings here in the U.S. Out of maybe 40 weddings, only three - 1 Catholic, 1 Protestant, and 1 civil wedding performed by a Justice of the Peace - did not have a best man and maid or matron of honor.

Is it only here that we use a best man (I think it may be cultural rather than religious) are is a best man present at other Catholic weddings around the world?

I think it was very sweet...but to be honest I am already tired of it. If that is their "signature move" they need to rethink it. LOL

Also, Daniel has this nervous habit of adjusting his glasses...happened A LOT yesterday. I hope he can grow out of it.

But even those things couldn't annoy me yesterday. In fact, only two things did...Mabel, of course...and the singer/dancer people who escorted the couple to the dance. I didn't mind them being there...it just went on TOO LONG and some of them were way TOO INTO CHARACTER. Other than that I thought the whole day was perfect.

WOW! A lovely bridal couple and they are so much in love from the way they look at each other. Victoria looks so happy. Congratulation to Victoria and Daniel! Best wishes, long live and happiness together to you. Daniel’s speech is very touch from the heart. I am glade and surprise to hear him speak in English and Swedish. He switches back and forth. The King’s speech is also beautiful also. He is a proud father of the bride.
Love Victoria’s wedding dress. It is simple but lovely and at least the dress does not look wrinkle.
Ten young bridesmaids and pageboys seem doing their jobs very well. Especially with the little ones. They look so behave and confident. Little prince and princesses are lovely. Prince Christian is my favorite. He is so cute walking down the aisle in front of the bride.

Relax. The first waltz was the only part of the ball allowed to be televised -- the rest was private.

There is always a concern when some one of a modest background gets propelled in a high public position- concern of how they will adapt. IN this case i think Daniel is adapting extremely well.

His behaviour was impeccable, his speech was a masterpiece.

Of course he had help and coaching. The good thing about athletes -[I consider a fitness trainer an athlete] is that they are receptive to coaching. It seems obvious Daniel benefitted from whatever help and coachign was given him.
In that respect, the Swedish court is to be congratulated on handling Daniel's transition very well.
Wonderful observation. And if I may add, it takes a great deal of discipline and determination as well.

The press has been annoying me with their snobbery, calling Daniel a fitness trainer every chance they get, as if that's something to be ashamed of. They've obviously never heard the term: "there are no dumb jobs, just dumb people". Look at Jonas, he's a lawyer yet he's proven himself quite a shady character. Besides, via his father's great toast, we've learned that he wanted to be a hockey player. Perhaps the fact that he's not always in good health prevented him from becoming one.

It was a great day for the couple and I hope Daniel continues to be of great support to the "the princess of his heart". It's a bit cheesy, but there's no better time or place for a bit of that. Awwwwwwww

I got dispointed with the tiara, the dress to simple and I did not lke the the dresses for the flower girls, but I love the boat and all the photos and how everybody was dress in general, I am happy for he she got to married the man she loves this is the most importatn thing! CONGRATULATIONS1

Like the German commentator said, the biggest snobs are the commoner and the press. So true.

I know, Sister Morphine, but in the broadcast, we could see a small part of the second dance, which is the part that I'm looking for

Court marshals & lady's in waiting

I noticed during the arrivals for the wedding that some of the members of the Swedish court were walking along behind some of the guests. Almost everyone in the procession had an escort of some type (usually military) but here are some things I observed:

Christina Schwerin was with the Danish crown princely couple. She also received them when they arrived in Sweden and seemed to be always with them.

Louise Lyberg (I think it was her) is the one I believe who was with the Dutch crown princely couple.

Kristen von Blixen-Finecke and her husband were with one of the last groups (and having trouble keeping the back group moving along while the front of the group were moving briskly!)

Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister was also in one of the last groups, along with her husband.

I didn't see her in the procession, but Louise Torneman was in the cathedral.

Sorry, I don't know the names of all of them or even which are ladies and gentlemen of the court. Certainly not all of them were.

Couple of questions, though:

Kirsten von Blixen-Finecke and Louise Torneman were wearing the lady's Court Dress, while the others were in their own evening gowns. Is there a particular reason they either weren't all in court dress or all in gowns?

There may have been Swedish escorts, but Queen Margrethe II's lady-in-waiting (I don't know her name) was walking behind her. Since she had her own lady with her as did Queen Beatrix at least the evening before, was that planned in communication between the courts? They don't get separate invitation, do they (the foreign court ladies)?

Did the Dutch and Danish cp's have (IMO) high-ranking/experienced ladies of the court because of their children in the wedding party and that is why Mary's lady-in-waiting wasn't there?

I've looked but didn't notice who then was assigned to the Norwegian crown princely couple. Did they have someone from the Norway court or was a Swedish member of the court assigned to them only?

Thanks in advance for any answers. I appreicate it.

OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!! I almost forgot. I don't know who she is, but the woman escorting Queen Silvia's brothers and sister-in-law was kind of dancing along behind them...kind of looked like she was high or something LOL. Was it just me that got that impression? Because that lady was in LA-LA!

As someone who wears glasses, I could understand Daniel's problems with his glasses. It was very warm and glasses slide no matter how well fitted they are. And there's a VERY fine line between well fitted glasses and ones that are too tight and cause sores behind the ears. And on that I speak from experience.
