What a blessed event and what a tremendous experience for all of the guests as well as all of us following along this week. Thank God for the internet and the technology which allowed us to feel so much a part of it, as well as the Swedish Royal Family and SVT for devoting an unprecedented amount of coverage and allowing access on such an huge and at the same time intimate scale. Truly a gift to their countrymen and fans.

It is so hard to compare one wedding to another, even though many are trying to do so. Most seem to agree that this is perhaps the best, or at least the one that evoked the most emotions for them. I, too, found myself tearing up many times throughout the day. I believe that is because even though we don't know them, we have followed this relationship for seven years, have known the struggles each one of them has faced individually and as a couple, and in particular the challenges the family faced in the past year.

This royal family has been my particular favorite for a long time, but my admiration for them grew so much during the last few days, as they all rallied around Victoria, CG & Silvia being the consummate hosts and proud parents, CP & Madde behaving in the most supportive, loving, and attention-avoiding manner...making this entire week about Daniel and Victoria. A true example of truly royal behavior.

It was a marathon of a day for all of us yesterday. It makes me really appreciate what the past week must have been like for them. I wish them all the best in the future, hope they have a great brunch today, and I hope they all get some much needed rest over the next week.

THANK YOU to everyone who has been posting and providing links, information, comments, opinions, and community. It was fantastic!

Rascal

I just watched Daniel's speech with the subtitles and it moved me to tears. I have every faith he will make a wonderful Prince Consort. The speech was heartfelt and genuine and I think Victoria should be congratulated on gaining such a wonderful husband. Carl Gustaf and Silvia should rest easy knowing Victoria has a companion like Daniel

Beautiful choice of tiara for the princess, equally interesting that Daniel chose to wear his glasses for the actual event. I would have thought that maybe for the wedding he may have gone without them. Both look very elegant though.

The whole event was absolutely incredible But was it appropriate to the situation when Victoria kissed Daniel's hands during the ceremony? I'm not sure.....

I've enjoyed seeing the photos and reading some of the coverage abroad of this wedding even though I don't understand Swedish. One of the German articles commented that the wedding displayed how authentic Princess Victoria and her new husband are. She's been with him for years, she built a rock solid relationship, she outwaited any objections her father had and her husband has proved himself to everyone and seems like a sterling man. Even having her father give her away at the altar is seen as a sign of Victoria's respect for tradition and for proving to the country that her father does approve of the marriage. It's seen as substance over style. I think that's the overall message that comes across here. What everyone wore really doesn't make much of a difference to me. I hope they're happy together and have the children and happy family they want.

Is ther a reason for them not attending at all ? All from the royal family ( Theodora did not attend) attend the wedding but not CP Pavolos,CP Marie-Chantal their children and Princess Theodora...

Sure, it was appropriate, as it was their wedding. If she was moved enought at that moment to kiss his hand showing her love, it was right for them. And really, on that day, what was right for them is all that counts. I personally loved the fact that he would cuddle her and she would touch his cheek during the day. Lovely. This is a couple that is not in the beginning moments of high emotions. They have been together for a few years and to be this careing just showed signs of true, deep mature love. Wonderful feeling when you are lucky enought to find. Plus, his speech at the reception was just beautiful. I really think that Victoria has indeed found her prince.

Yes, I hope so too. And to some point I agree with you, Winnie, although it was a solemn ceremony their behaviour gave away the signs of their mature love. I also found stroking Daniel's face sweet; Victoria must be over the moon judging from all these pictures...
Thank you for the reply

The wedding was incredible, but a couple of things caught my eye. First, in the church, in the end of the ceremony when Victoria and Daniel turned to face the crowd, Daniel turned his back at Victoria. That is said to be a bad omen for the marriage, but that's just the old women talking, right?

It became clear that Daniel needs to go for dancing lessons if he is to attend balls etc. after this. The beginning of their first waltz was quite promising, but seemed like all he knew was what he had been taught at wedding waltz lessons. He danced clockwise only and didn't change direction at all and they didn't use the floor very well. I bet Victoria's head was spinning after all that going around in one direction!
