Victoria's wedding was really special. I guess when it takes 8 years to get your Dad's approval to marry the man of your dreams the tiny details doesn't really. You just want to get married and have your happily ever after!

Hmm after watching the video the only thing I thought wasn't that great was the arrival of the bride, we only saw the car coming down the street it would be nice to see her leaving the palace and all, and she wasn't escorted by any security just a lone car. I remember watching it and saying this can't be the bride it's just one car. Oh well other than that it was all nice. :)

Well the palace is literally right next door to the church, so it didn't have to go far. Plus that street was so narrow that any extra escorts would have crowded things up a bit. I doubt they ever left the true confines of the palace proper, and there were security every step of the way.

The wedding dress

I think I've said elsewhere that the Cameo Tiara is not my favorite and yet I still love the history associated with it. And it looked marvelous on Victoria with her dress and veil.

Finally, I think the most amazing sight was the smile on Victoria's face. Given the things she has endured, from health problems to the criticism of her choice of Daniel, I think that the magical part of this wedding is that Victoria and Daniel overcame the odds and made it to the altar.
Victoria's wedding dress took a year's work to produce. The dress “was sculptured directly on the Crown Princess”. She was frequently evident at the Royal castle, in a room with mirrors on all four walls. Crown Princess pursued timeless elegant style, elegance and simplicity.
The dress was designed by Swedish royal designer Par Engsheden and is made from 30 meter (98.5 ft) of hand-woven silk duchesse pearl white duplex á 6000 SEK meter (630 Euro, 780 USD ). The dress is estimated to have cost a total of around 800 000 SEK (83.700 Euro, 103.540 USD ). It was equipped with short arms and outwardly weight collar. The back is V-shaped with covered buttons. A wide belt snaps in the back. The veil was 5 meter long (16,5 ft). The shoes are lined in bridal dress fabric

Does anybody have a really good pic of the flowers on the palace balcony on the barge arrival side? They blue-purple flowers in large blue & white vases or urns. I thought they were just lovely!

It's hard to explain but I really shouldn't have said "could've been better....what I meant was I thought it would've been more lavish, for example, diamonds in the bouquet, the train flowing out of the door, blah blah blah.
After realizing who Victoria is (simple, etc) I'm glad she went simply elegant.
Aww sorry about that CrownPrincess5, as soon as I posted my comment I saw your one afterwards! The train was designed to accommodate the length of the veil and I'm sure anything much longer would have require a couple of more burley bridesmaids to handle!

Cameo Tiara

Regarding wedding traditions that Crown Princess Victoria followed....

It says on the Royal family's official website that the cameo tiara was worn by the King's sisters at their weddings and that Princess Birgitta started the tradition. I'm sure that is why the king asked Silvia to wear it.

The tiara was given to the King's mother, Crown Princess Sybilla, at the time of her wedding, by Prince Eugen of Sweden. He had got it from his mother who inherited it from Queen Josefina of Sweden, who inherited it from her grandmother, the French Empress Josephine.

The lace bridal veil Victoria wore is also traditional. It is Queen Sofia of Sweden's veil. It was worn by the King's mother, Sybilla at her wedding in 1932, and by three of the king's sisters at their weddings, as well as by Queen Silvia.

The royal barge "Vasaorden" has been used in the wedding celebrations of the late Queen Ingrid and King Frederik of Denmark, and by Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf.

All this information is easily available at the Official Royal website.

No problem I was more then happy to do it. I know how to feels to want a permanent copy of a royal wedding and you can't find it anywhere cause so much time has passed. So I thought I'd rip it now while it's still up and then I thought you all may like to have it as well

I totally agree, 4Pam. With respect to Victoria's choice of wedding dress or tiara or copying her parents' wedding, I really don't understand what all these discussions are for. I think she combined the traditional elements that are an important part in her family history (and which I think is also actually expected when such a high profile royal gets married) with many modern elements very well. She put so much individuality into this wedding as possible like her father walking her into the church or she even spoke to the Swedish people at the balcony and thanked them (which I thought was a wonderful gesture and which I have never seen at any other royal wedding before). Yes, she wore the cameo tiara which I think is a beautiful tribute to her mother and it absolutely looked fantastic on her. But above all she put more individuality than expected by the choice of her husband who is neither a royal nor comes he from a well-known or rich family. Daniel is her other half - you could see this clearly. What else would she have done any better???

Question: Did Crown Princess Victoria look unhappy or annoyed or sad on her wedding day because she did not get the kind of wedding she was perhaps hoping for or dreaming of? I don't think so. In fact she looked like the happiest and most beautiful bride one can imagine on such a special day. She was reflecting so much love and happiness that you couldn’t resist feeling the same happiness for her and automatically wished her and her Prince all the best and the brightest future together as a married couple. And her Prince Daniel looked just as happy as she was. We should respect this instead of discussing what fabric or tiara would have looked better on her.

She will be the first Queen ever from the Bernadotte history on the Swedish throne one day, which marks already a historical break of traditions with a husband at her side who was a former commoner. So in many ways, Victoria and Daniel have already changed tradition...
