6. Prince Claus of The Netherlands and Countess Ruth of Rosenberg

Thank you, as always, for the wonderful pictures pdas1201! :)

Is there a reason why Prince Claus escorted Countess Ruth of Rosenberg into the church? Where was (then) Crown Princess Beatrix? And was/is not Countess Ruth married that her he could not have escorted her into the church? (I don't know anything about the Rosenbergs.)

Countess Ruth was married to Count Flemming of Rosenberg, who was Crown Prince Harald's best man. Thus, he was standing up with Harald. ;)

Count Flemming of Rosenborg was also Harald's cousin, as he was son of Margaretha, sister of Crown Princess Märtha.

And like always, you are most welcome, Alexandria:)

As Norwegianne has kindly answered the question about Countess Ruth of Rosenberg. I will answer the second question, Crown Princess Beatrix couldn't attend the wedding as she was in the last months of her pregnancy with Johan Friso. Her husband attended the wedding to represent the House of Orange.

very nice pictures! :)

The video of the wedding is just so cute! Harald and Sonja both look so extremely shy! A lovely couple!
You nearly cannot hear Sonja's "yes!"! ;)
And I really like the Entry-Song! Nice melody!

What did Sonja wear in her hair? It doesn't look like a Tiara, but like "Flowers" or something like this !
Does anyone know?

What was their reason for the boykott of the wedding?
I don't know if there was a real boykott  , but maybe some people were not content because Sonja was the first commoner to become a Crownprincess and then a Queen...

It was also written that there was death-case. Does anyone know what happened???:ermm:
Ahout the deathcase: On the special weddingpage of Angelfire it is written:

The death of HRH the Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, a friend of King Olav V and above all the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet forces would sadly reduce the celebrations even if the happiness of the Crown Prince and Miss Haraldsen or indeed the one of the Norwegian people were not affected.

When you go on reading it is written that the morning before the wedding the death of Duchess Mariana was announced and the press asked King Olav if the wedding will be canceled, since he and the Duchess were very close (HRH Princess Marina had been whispered as a possible second wife of King Olav, after the deaths of both their consorts).

I loved her veil... I've always favored longer veils over shorter ones. I think longer ones are more dramatic.

Just a questions:
Why didn't they exchange weddingrings like it's done during a traditional wedding??:ermm:

I really love "Trumpet Tune and Air"! It's a great song for coming inside the church! It's so dramatical! :)
