Archduke Carl Christian of Austria & Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxembourg: Feb 6, 1982

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I remember it was - up to the engagement - a well kept secret that Marie-Astrid was "connected" with Carl Christian.

If I recall, her mother had a hand in the connection ?

Thanks for these photos. I wanted to see pictures from their wedding.

Where did they get married?

Who attended the wedding?

Just curious- who were the witnesses at their wedding??

Great pictures everybody. The most impressive lady IMO (apart from the bride) was the little old lady in black, Empress Zita. It must have been a special day for her and her cousin & sister-in-law, Grand Duchess Charlotte, to see their grandchildren getting married to each other.
Does anybody know who represented Sweden, Denmark and Britain? It would have been interesting if the Prince of Wales had attended :).

It is hard to believe that this couple will celebrate their silver anniversary next year.

Congratulations to the Silver Couple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the couple :flowers:

25 years together, that is quite the accomplishment

Britain was represented by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Prince Andrew, Sweden by Prince Bertil and Princess Lilian

Does anybody know the exact date of their engagement?

I believe it is Princess Philippine de Ligne, born viscountess de Noailles; mother of Archduchess Yolande (and grandmother of AD Carl-Christian).

I don't like the collar or the shoulders of her dress.

:previous: The short video of their wedding (at the end of the article) is especially lovely and interesting. Princess Marie-Astrid has such a deep, full voice. Thank you for posting.

I’m quite shocked that Prince Andrew went. I suppose that it was the Luxembourg royals who invited him because the Habsburgs and the BRF haven’t really been close if at all.

These where the years when he was an eligible bachelor. I’m sure the Queen sent him with the intention of meeting someone.
