Maybe we are all a little selfish here and just want want want to see a gorgeous tiara..
Mbruno a floral headpiece would be nice. But I just want to see her in bling! Meghan will look gorgeous in diamonds and or pearls.

Personally I hope HM loans her permanently Queen Adelaides Fringe tiara. This one has diamond bars all the way around and can be worn as a necklace with the tiara supporting frame taken off. This makes it a substantial diamond necklace, or she can wear it as a tiara. It looks almost identical to Queen Mary's fringe tiara, but is more versatile.

:previous: I may be wrong, but I think Queen Victoria designated Queen Adelaide's Fringe as a tiara reserved only for queens and queen consorts.

Yes, it is. It's definitely not available for her, if you ask me. Also the Queen has worn Queen Mary's fringe tiara from time to time over the past few years, so I doubt that she'll part with it. Then there is a fringe necklace which the Queen has received as a wedding present. But it's thread on a silk thread and has no tiara frame. So this one also is very unlikely.

I think Meghan not wearing a tiara will lead to all sorts of unsavoury speculation in the Press about her not being accepted or liked etc. etc.

This is a mockup of her in the Lozenge tiara - https://uploads.disquscdn.com/image...eb5866b26b3fdaaf6b50bf6f1d44.png?w=600&h=1049

IF (and it is huge 'if') she foregoes a tiara, then hair jewels a la Charlene of Monaco may suit her beautifully - https://uploads.disquscdn.com/image...198c3c130c11865b91ed287f85cb7.jpg?w=600&h=254

Still want a tiara though :closedeye

I have to dig up my old post to let you all know how nice the Lozenge is with Meghan (or let you all know my affection for the Lozenge:ROFLMAO:). Just FYR -

Not a professional photoshopper but I just try:flowers:

Diamond Lozenge: https://imgur.com/a/KKOmU

I am glad that I made this (thanks Queen Claude!) otherwise I would never think of the Lozenge (never notice it because of the low quality photo). It looks soooo nice on Meghan. IT IS GORGEOUS.

Definitely team tiara. Both subjectively and objectively.

:previous: Ahh, it was your photoshop. Thanks W.Y.CII :flowers:

That gif image is stunning. The tiara has so much more presence when worn.

The one you posted wasn't mine but remind me what I did (I had a moment thinking is that mine?).

The gif of Margaret is one of the reason I firmly root for the Lozenge (even if Meghan doesn't wear it in Saturday I still hope someone will bring it out again), even though it's not big it wouldn't be lost easily in veil or hair (and Meghan has a dark hair which can let it shine).

A tiara like that would definitely get lost with the veil. If it was just against her dark hair, fine. But withe the veil covering how of her hair, that's just not going to work. One of my major complaints about the Halo for Kate.

Thanks for posting your version! I have always been Team Lozenge. and this just confirms how gorgeous it would look on Meghan. I think the style and shape suit her perfectly, and I think so far as not being lost in the veil goes, placement of the tiara is everything, and frankly, having the hair up rather than down. Having her hair down and the placement of the Cartier Halo tiara was where impact was lost for Kate's tiara/veil combo.

^ Agreed. Kate's look would have definitely been elevated had she done an updo.

There is one way to combat the tiara getting lost in the veil and hair and that is to wear the veil lower in the hair (almost tucked into the updo at the back of the head) and without a blusher. In a way, not wearing a blusher may make the most sense as Meghan is divorced and it may be the sole concession to that fact.

Some examples of other royal brides who have done the same:

:previous: Yes, keeping the tiara and veil separate would also work, and I was actually thinking of HGD Stephanie when I posted. I wonder if Meghan could hire the person who does the tiara hair for the Luxembourg ladies to give her stylist tips?

Oh, and I agree about the blusher--never been a big fan of those anyway.

The fabric choice for the veil makes a very big difference, too. And whether or not it will start out being worn with a portion over the face that ends up folded back over the head.

Kate's veil was sheer, but a tight weave. Because of that, it created a nearly solid white backdrop for the tiara when folded back. Princess Marie of Denmark, on the other hand, managed to choose a veil that let her dark hair show through enough to still set off the tiara because hers (a) was only ever draping behind her, not over her face, and (b) the body of the veil is made of a more open weave fabric, so even where it is gathered to the point of doubling up it remains sheer.

Queen Maxima is an example of how even an updo won't help a tiara stand out against a veil with a lot of "oomph." I like Maxima's wedding look, don't get me wrong, but it really didn't matter which tiara she wore with that veil. Nothing made of diamonds was going to really be very visible with against that backdrop.

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Top 10 Best Royal Wedding Dresses: #4. HRH Princess Maxima

Or Princess Mary, whose tiara was nearly invisible from some angles against her veiled updo:

https://tiarasandtrianon.com/2014/11/13/crown-princess-mary-wedding-tiara/

Of course, she had to add in a heavy fold right where the veil attached to her head and the tiara, making a strip that was nearly opaque just where it most damages the effect of the jewels.

If Meghan goes with one of these shorter tiaras, I do hope she opts for a veil that tucks into a bun (see: Mette Marit of Norway, Victoria or Sophia of Sweden) and doesn't compete with the tiara. Likewise, if she wants the full-on veil, I hope she's able to select a taller tiara that can stand out against the fabric.

:previous: I hope Meghan will place her veil on her bun too! To me that's the most beautiful way to wear a veil.

A tiara like that would definitely get lost with the veil. If it was just against her dark hair, fine. But withe the veil covering how of her hair, that's just not going to work. One of my major complaints about the Halo for Kate.

I always think Kate's problem is not about the tiara, the veil or the hair, but the whole combination. You get a small tiara? that's fine, just get the right veil and hair. EloisevonLippe gives great examples of Stephanie and Mette Marit (Mette Marit's wedding tiara probably is even smaller than the Lozenge or Halo). What's really matter is how you make your tiara work with your veil and hair.

Regarding veil, I think I have discussed it in this thread before, if you don't get a tall tiara and you attach your veil right behind it (like Kate and Mary), your tiara probably will get lost. (Maxima is lucky as her tiara is tall enough to stand out from her veil).

BTW I think the Lozenge is slightly taller than the Halo? it has a taller base.

The Lozenge worked on Margaret because she was so young and girlish when she worn it. Meghan is at an age where regal is more appropriate. It's boring and just blah. High veil or otherwise.

I think the Lozenge is very regal and would look wonderful on Meghan because she's beautiful and could probably carry off just about anything.

That said, who knows what surprises might lurk in the jewel vaults of Her Maj. At this point, with all the other drama that's been going on, I'm looking forward to seeing Meghan wear anything at all--hopefully not Sophie's tiara, but aside from that, I'm open.

Edited to add:

I was just looking at the Teck Crescent again in my copy of The Queen's Diamonds, and that's a lovely work of art. Meghan wearing that, on loan from Camilla, would certainly send a message of welcome and inclusion.

Princess Maxima’s tiara was rather ugly though with the diamond stars. In fact, most Dutch tiaras are ugly despite having huge and impressive stones.

Agree.
After the chaos in recent days, Camilla borrows or gives Meghan a tiara would be a nice move.

Quite sure we wouldn't see Sophie's wedding tiara (I assume you are talking about this one?) as it's Sophie and BRF normally wouldn't share tiara. And Meghan (and also Sophie) deserves something better than this tiara......:bang:

I rebuke any suggestion of Meghan NOT wearing a tiara in the name of the father, son and holy ghost.

Get thee behind us talk of Meghan not wearing a tiara! I wanna see a tiara!

Is the going theory that the Lozenge tiara may not exist anymore?

Queen Adelaides Fringe tiara

:previous: I may be wrong, but I think Queen Victoria designated Queen Adelaide's Fringe as a tiara reserved only for queens and queen consorts.

Thank you for that information. I was not awhere of that.
So my second choice would be if Her Majesty were to buy Meghan a new tiara one that was versatile enough to be worn as a necklace or elements of it worn as a pendant etc.

I don't think we know about the Lozenge, but the Filigree is rumored to be dismantled. I thought that'd make a great tiara for Meghan. I'm still rooting for the Sapphire Bandeau with a center piece to replace the sapphire.

No one (outside the BRF) knows the status of the Lozenge Tiara...it was last seen in 65.

Concern is more that it may be one of Margaret's, and in her family vault some where.

Its not unknown for tiaras not to be seen for long stints. They have quite a few. The halo had not been seen in nearly 40 years when Kate wore it. It had last been seen on Anne in the early 70s.

While I think that tiara only belongs on a young girl's head, that's quite a waste.

I've been reading 'Matriarch' recently which is the biography of May of Teck aka Queen Mary and in it, one of her bridal gifts, the Iveagh tiara is mentioned. I had never heard of it but looked up a picture and it's lovely in its size and detailing. Unfortunately, it was not inherited by the main line as it was given to the Gloucesters and is now the property of that family which is a shame as who knows if it will eventually be sold.

As luck would have it, The Court Jeweller did a quick post on it today. IMO, the size and aesthetic would have suited Meghan perfectly - The Daily Diadem: The Iveagh Tiara | The Court Jeweller

I need a slap upside the head for forgetting the Lozenge Tiara. How I could is beyond me!! [emoji5]

From what we understand, the Queen will offer her X options (similar to how it was handled with Kate) and Meghan is free to pick from that group.

We don't know which ones will be offered although it is unlikely that she will be offered anything being currently worn by the Queen, Camilla, Kate or Sophie. Which takes some on the poll out of the running right out of the gate.

We really don't know what is in the family vaults that hasn't been seen in ages. I don't think the Lozenge Bandeau (gorgeous) has been seen in a long long time. We assume it's still in the vault and not broken up for use in other pieces.

Can you imagine that though? Being led into a room at BP & in front of you is a table w/nothing but Tiaras in their boxes!?!

Sigh...[emoji4]

Yes, that Photoshop someone linked to shows how stunning a combination the Lozenge & Meghan would make. Tilting more in that direction...[emoji4]

It is a thing of beauty isn’t it!?! As you say, it would have suited Meghan perfectly.

You know, I’ve been on Team Strathmore Rose Tiara since the Cambridge Wedding. Both because I love the design of it, really pretty, & I think it’a a shame a Tiara that came from the Queen Mum’s Family is never used or seen. I know the claims about the shape it’s in, & if true, that makes the above even more of a shame.

Anyway...

However, you’ve managed to change my mind & turn me to Team Lozenge. Amazing what one well done Photoshopped picture can do, huh!?! [emoji1][emoji1]

All I can tell you is that I checked out as many books as my library had on tiaras. The only mention of the Lozenge tiara was a paragraph from "The Queen's Jewels," published back when Diana, Margaret and the Queen Mother were still alive. And even them, it didn't really specify who owned the tiara, just that Margaret had borrowed it from Queen Mary. More telling was that it was not pictured with all the rest of the tiaras.

"The Queen's Diamonds" is more comprehensive and dates from around the Diamond Jubilee. It has no mention whatsoever of the Lozenge tiara, and if ownership had transferred back to the Queen on her sister's death, I'm sure it would have been pictured with the rest.

On another note, "The Queen's Diamonds" featured a picture of the Queen Mother wearing the Teck Circle Necklace. The author noted that the necklace had gone to Princess Margaret and at the time of publication, it was with her son, Viscount Linley.
