Thanks for the detailed response, Countessmeout. :flowers: Was the tiara that was sold the one Margaret wore at her wedding? :ermm:
.
Yes. Margaret herself purchased the Politmore tiara before she married - it was not a royal heirloom. After her death, her family sold it to help pay the inheritance taxes.

:previous: Thank you, Countessmeout. :flowers: Interesting that Margaret bought it herself. That's a twist, not so?

I'm still hoping for hair jewels rather than a tiara, a la Princess Charlene of Monaco. :flowers: Maybe a hair jewel that is a hybrid of a tiara/hair jewel, especially if it's a bespoke piece gifted by Harry.

We are starting to see how Meghan 'interprets' British royal style with her most recent event in Northern Ireland. Meghan is clearly in the elegant 'clean-lines' corner, I think we can safely say.

As much as I appreciate lacy stuff, I don't think Meghan is going to go for anything fussy, and that includes anything to do with a tiara. This is a guess. ;)

With the right hair jewel, she could pair it with a sleek veil, a la Mette Marit (though not as long).

I think we will see minimal jewels on Meghan's wedding day. :flowers:

Oh not me ..I want to see BLING on the head! I wouldn't mind a gorgeous brooch, necklace, earrings, bracelet ...(not necessarily all of them) too.

But what bride marrying into a royal family goes all out on her wedding day? :flowers: It's a slow approach to all that bling stuff. Unless one is marrying the heir (or monarch), maybe then the bling is called for? 'required'?

Anyway, it's going to be very interesting to see how Meghan 'interprets' the royal bling, especially given it's also billed as a private wedding. ;) Under two months and all shall be revealed!

Well we know they are going for a more formal style wedding now that we have seen the invitation dress code. So....I am betting she's going to have at least a little bling on!!!

Fergie had a significant tiara that was sufficient for her regular use afterwards on her wedding day. Sophie's tiara was...not small and they had a more relaxed dress code than Meghan and Harry will. That tiara's a lot of things, but it wasn't small like the headband tiaras. I'll just leave that there. Kate choose a smaller tiara, and part of that I believe was the motif on the tiara matched her wedding earrings. I wouldn't be surprised if Meghan's wedding tiara is bigger than Kate's just because it might be the only tiara she has access to for a few years based on what this monarch has done with loaning out tiaras. Although, she could surprise us by loaning her a tiara for just that day and then loaning a different one for every day use. But I believe every British royal bride has had a tiara in recent history other than Camilla, which was because her and Charles married in a civil ceremony. I'd be very surprised if Meghan didn't wear a tiara.

Oh no, I want the lot, so much so that she would be in danger of drowning in a puddle if she fell in one!

Being a fashionista I am sure Meghan is familiar with the rules of accessories of the shiny sort, a la Coco Chanel.

I think she could wear them all if they are the right pieces and go with her dress. But seeing how she leans to the minimal side I will be happy to see a tiara and perhaps a necklace and I would hope earrings.

She seems to like bracelets so maybe one of those!

LaRae

I would love a tiara but will settle for a neat bun and not a “messy” one so maybe a clip

I'm sure she'll have her hair done in a more formal manner.

I’m not too sure about that I’ve been hoping each time that’s she worked out what to with it .

There has been no indication that Meghan Markle cannot dress or put herself together for the occasion. She'll dress up and have her hair done accordingly when it's time to dress up, and she'll dress in more casual manner when it's ok.

There is a difference between attending a day event with a messy bun, and her hugely formal televised wedding. Meghan knows how to dress and style for the occasion. And to use people to help her with that.

Tiara and earrings, maybe a bracelet I would count on. A necklace will depend on her dress. Both the neckline and how busy the dress is. If it is simple, and more architectural, I could see added detail of a necklace to add some bling. If she has more going on (hopefully not lace) like beading, a necklace may be too much. Compare Sophie's extremely simple structured dress, with a necklace, vs Kate's elaborate lace gown without.

I would much prefer a gorgeous simple architectural gown, brought out with real bling in jewelry and a fantastic veil.

It's always here where people talk like they know famous people personally; "Meghan knows how to dress and how to get help with.. .whatever". "I'm sure Meghan will wear something like.... " No one here knows her or Harry or any of these people, so why talk like we have first hand knowledge. Makes us no better than people like Katie Nichol.

Ok - my two pence - Mrs. Markle will go with a simple and elegant dress - as this is what we have seen until now from her - however, not too modest as she needs to fill the Windsor Chapel. And I bet she will wear a tiara - either a new one, which will be hers afterwards, or one from the vaults, but looking at her personal jewel taste I think of something petite and delicate.....

But Meghan has also done some grander more busy/fussy styles even lace. I will not be surprised if she does something bigger than expected or contains more lace than expected...or one with more bling than expected to include a grander than expected tiara. She probably had princess dreams like most little girls!

She could carry it off. Just hard to know which way she's going to go.

Won't be the Cartier "Halo" tiara that Catherine wore - it's currently on display in Australia.

(Along with Grace's engagement ring.)

Been mentioned a few times :flowers: Highly unlikely even if it hadn't been on tour, that Meghan would wear the same wedding tiara. Unlike Kate, she is likely to wear the same tiara for some time to come. Having the one associated with Kate's wedding day, would seem an unlikely pick.

A lot of girls don't dream of being a princess beyond kindergarten.

You don't need a dress covered in lace or bling for a major tiara. Actually the opposite would almost be true. The simpler the gown she chose, the more impressive a tiara might be called for. To make a statement and have the presence in the church.

Thanks Countessmeout - I just couldn't scroll through all the posts checking.

Agree regarding a simpler gown - Margaret being an example of that working.

Best idea was Sarah - going in as a country girl with flowers in her hair, coming out a princess with diamonds.

I still don't think Meghan will wear anything that associate with Kate, which means we wouldn't see the Halo and also the Lotus and QMLK.

The Lover's Knot is currently loaned out to Kate and that seems to be the tiara she's sticking with after the one appearance of Lotus. I think we can safely count that out. I'm not sure why it was even mentioned as a contender in the first place. I don't think it'd be Halo or the Lotus either.

The Halo is on tour in Oz....really out of the ones listed most of them aren't possible but the admin said they just tried to use all the ones people kept commenting about.

The Lotus is a possibility as is the Teck Crescent. Past that we aren't sure about the state of the Strathmore or the Lozenge Bandeau. It's not likely she'll wear the Sapphire bandeau either.

Possible also she will have a existing purchased tiara (in the manner of Sarah) or a created one like Sophie had.

I hope for her sake it is a purchased one!

If it's from the vaults, then I think it will be the Lotus or possibly the Fringe (I don't think the Queen wears that much anymore, she might be willing to hand it off).

I might have eye problems but to me, the Essex tiara reminds me of Meghan's engagement dress. They would go well together.

Charles needs to go buy this back from Cartier for Meghan!

Unlikely for two reasons a] Cartier are unlikely to sell [why would they] ?
b] There is no family connection with the 'Essex' Tiara, and we know that where the Prince of Wales has bought 'historic Jewels', they have that connection [not to the Windsors] but to his wife's family..

Oh I know it's about as likely as me meeting the Queen....but it's a gorgeous tiara. Meghan could pull it off. It would nice with several dresses I'd think.

Speaking of tiaras with provenance ...Charles needs to go buy this back from Cartier for Meghan!

I'm not a fan of the Fringe style. To me they are boring and just a mass of diamonds with no real design.

LaRae

I seem to say this so many times but I love how views differ - 'a mass of diamonds' - to me that is fabulous, I love the fringe style :D
