I'm excited about the wedding being close but man, their joint monogram gives me a headache. So many swirls!

No. Victoria's and Daniel's and Madeleine's and Chris's banns were not shown live either. Possibly Aftonbladet and Expressen have cameras outside the Royal Chapel, but at previous banns the royal family arrived from the "family door" inside the Palace. SVT probably shows a short video of the church event after it has ended, like at Madeleine's banns.

Ah, that's where it comes from. 'Cause here in the Netherlands there is that video of Madeleine's banns available and I was already wondering how that could be if the event wasn't televised. But this makes sense and would do.

Are the Banns called on all three preceding Sundays prior to the marriage on 13th June 2015?

According to Svensk Damtidning, there will be about 100 guests at the reception. Families, friends and representatives of official Sweden.

The court confirms to Expressen that Princess Madeleine's husband Chris O'Neill will not attend at the banns on Sunday.
- No, he can not be there, says Margareta Thorgren.
Why?
- He has since long time had other private commitments.
What commitments?
- It is private. He would have liked to be there, but now it is impossible to implement, says Margareta Thorgren.
One detail in this context is that Chris O'Neill's mother Eve O'Neill turns 73 years the day before the banns of marriage and reception. The court does not want to reveal what Chris O'Neill does instead of the banns on Sunday.
Just two weeks ago Chris O'Neill should have been with Prince Carl Philip's bachelor party in Greece, but at the last moment he jumped off and never showed up to the party in Athens.

EDIT Margareta Thorgren to Aftonbladet
"Of course, everything can change, but as it is now, he has other commitments and is unable to be with, says Margareta Thorgren."

Aftonbladet writes about Sofia's parents, that they love motorcycling. Mother Marie has three motorcycles and father Erik one. "Today they meet the royal family". Aftonbladet contacted Sofia's father Erik, who said that the family didn't want to comment.

Expressen's research shows that the majority of municipalities and county administrative boards around Sweden don't give the prince couple any present at the banns or at the wedding, the same happened at Madeleine's wedding.
One exception is Älvdalen, where Sofia Hellqvist grew up. The municipality sends the municipal council chairman Stig Olsson and Councillor Peter Egardt to the church service. Even Ing-Marie Bergman, project manager for Love Älvdalen participates.
- It's really exciting, and a glorious mission, she says.
What Älvdalen would give to Prince couple has been subject to careful examination.
- I can say that there has been a lot of discussion. Within the group has had many suggestions, and then there have been suggestions fom outside too, which is fun. It has an Älvdalen stamp, says Bergman.
But whatever it is she does not want to reveal.
- I do not want to do it. People can see it when we give it. It is not wrapped, so you will see it there and then, says Bergman.
Also Värmland, where Prince Carl Philip is Duke, gives a present. Governor Kenneth Johansson and his wife Viola attend at the church service and the reception - also with a secret gift.
- It is a gift that is linked to nature, and which we think is good, says Arman Teimouri, County Executive Coordinator of Värmland.

It's common practice nowadays to only have one but it used to be required by law to have three. Up until the 60s or 70s I believe.

Looking forward to the pictures and perhaps some video.

Chris IS there! Yay!

Princess Estelle and Princess Leonore looks as sweet as always.

And why did they arrive from there, unlike at Victoria's and Madeleine's banns, then they used the family door at the chapel.

Actually i think it is the better way to do it like this. But i agree with you that they should have done it also like this for the Banns of Victoria and Madeleine. Was the couple with the lady in blue Sofia's parents?

Thanks. Do we know who are the men with her sisters? Their partners or relatives?.

Their partners, according to Svensk Damtidning they have both lived with their boyfriends for some years already.

Victoria looked very beautiful, beautiful dress, great hairdo and nice hat. Madeleine looks good, but I wish she would have put her hair up. Sofia looked terrible at her sausage curls, and somehow her outfit didn't suit her at all, she looks good at simple dresses. Sofia's sister Lina looked gorgeous.
Estelle and Leonore are super cute. And it is great to see countess Marianne Bernadotte at the christening. I have a soft spot for the oldest members of the Bernadotte family.

I partly agree with you. I think Victoria looks good, but that hat?! In my eyes it looks like it going to fall off any minute. On the other hand I really like Madeleine's outfit and especially the hair and the fascinator. I agree with you that this isn't the best look for Sofia, but there is nothing wrong with it either. I think she has got influenced by her future sister-in-law when it comes to her hair.

Marianne Bernadotte af Wisborg looks as beautiful as always. It's great still seeing her attend these events. I wonder if Countess Gunilla Bernadotte was attending as well. We haven't seen her at that many royal gatherings since Count Carl Johan passed away.

Since countess Gunnila lives in Båstad, it is a rather long trip to make for an elderly lady. Of course it would be great if she attended today.

Now it is official, after the wedding we have HRH princess Sofia, the duchess of Värmland.

H.R.H. Princess Sofia, as it should be. That completes it.

:previous: Looks very like it. How very lovely that Victoria and Madeleine should do that.

I think they all chose their hats together. Sophia looks fine her hair doesn't seem to hold curls. The couple looks very happy and probably ready for the wedding to be over.

I think these are three different couples I see no need to compare how they handled their banns. I seriously doubt that Victoria or Maddie care how they went in to the church they are just happy to be there and share their brothers special moment with his soon to be wife.

But Sweden, like other monarchies, has a heir to the throne, and her and her title and position should be respected in these events. Of course there is a new director at the press department and she favours openness. But they should not run over the heir to the throne. She comes first, and the events of the others should be simplier, also when it comes to how it is showed to the media.

Significantly, unlike Daniel for example, she didn't become "HRH Princess Sofia of Sweden". I assume "princess" in her case is just a courtesy title.

Why did they arrive from and how was that different from CP's sisters' banns ? Could you please explain ?

There is a door beside the altar at the Royal Chapel, so called "Royal Family door". At Victoria's and Madeleine's banns the royal family, also Victoria and Madeleine, arrived from there and not outside the chapel by the stairs. The photographers weren't allowed to take photos of the royal family at the benches at the chapel like this time.

i like sofia's outfit: apart from the hideous hat, she looked radiant, i'm sure she won't disappoint at the wedding.
leonore is sweet, but estelle is my favourite, she always looks so enthusiastic! you have to fall in love with her little head peaking out trying to see what was going on in this picture:

i'm not sure what the ladies, overall, thought of when buying hats - what exactly was it that victoria and madde were wearing?!

Prince Carl Philip once was Sweden's Crown Prince and, despite having lost that position, he still represents a new generation in the Royal House of Bernadotte, via the direct male lineage of all the Kings and Princes before him. Seen from the more conservative view, after Victoria the House of Bernadotte will have lost the throne of Sweden as Estelle is in fact a Westling.

Of course we are now in 2015 and maybe we have a different view on that, but in terms of royal descent, genealogy and heraldry Carl Philip is the procreator of the Bernadotte dynasty. I can imagine that especially King Carl XVI Gustaf (whom was never happy with the retro-active "robbing" of his son's royal birthright and position as Heir) wants to stress that this is a dynastically very important marriage for him.

:flowers:

The negative reaction in the media probably forced him to change his plans.

Or it was never intended that he would stay away but the media went loose with all the speculating.

Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine wore no hats but fascinators. Not my cup of tea, especially not with long hair (Madeleine). But all looked nice for this little ceremony, an in-between on the way to the wedding day.
