I don't know why all spouses of crownprinces are suddenly called crownprincess. At least for Belgium this isn't correct. Crownprince is the one who inherits the throne, so Philippe in this case. Mathilde will never be on the throne. The first Belgian crownprincess will be princess Elisabeth, because she'll be a reigning queen.

Charlotte is also one of my favorites! More than an eccentric she was a woman who tried very hard to become a good empress for Mexico, but had a husband who wasn't up to the task and foreign aid that just abandoned her when they could no longer benefit from it themselves. I believe she went "mad" from despair.

Which book have you read on her? I've read one written by Mia Kerckvoorde, a very good one!

I didn't realize that. Except for the English and Spanish that use titles P/Pcess of Wales and P/Pcess of Asturias -- I thought all of those that were to become the King/Queen were "technically" (even as in the aforementioned they use different titles) Crown Prince and Crown Princess. I will have to change my comments some. Glad to have this information, Catherine.

Default The Complete Belgian Royal Family

I'm currently working on a project on the Belgian Royal Family, and I have decided to include children born out of wedlock and even adopted children.
It's known that king Leopold I had two children out of wedlock, Leopold II also had two children out of wedlock, Charlotte and Maximilian seem to have adopted two children. King Albert II also had a child born out of wedlock (Delphine) and the Prince-Regent Charles (or Karel in Dutch) also had a child out of wedlock. Some sources state that king Leopold III also had a child born out of wedlock but other sources mention that child but aren't really sure. So what's true and what's false?

I'm interested in all information you guys might have.

Thanks a lot
