Belgian Royals in Heartwarming Family Photoshoot

Just two weeks after ringing in his 71st birthday, Belgium's King Albert basked in both the summer sunshine and the love of his growing family during a royal photo shoot at the Castle of Laeken near Brussels.

All three of the king's children – Crown Prince Philippe, Princess Astrid and Prince Laurent – took part in the special session with their respective spouses, Crown Princess Mathilde , Prince Lorenz and Princess Claire.

But surely what made the event a truly heartwarming, and perhaps unpredictable, occasion was the presence of King Albert and Queen Paola's beloved grandchildren. All eight of the royal offspring, ranging in age from 16-month-old Princess Louise, daughter of Laurent and Claire, to 19-year-old Prince Amadeo, the eldest son of Astrid and her husband Lorenz, were on hand.

And there promises to be more joy in store for the proud grandparents. The crown prince and princess are expecting their third child – a sibling for future queen and current toddler Princess Elisabeth and her younger brother Prince Gabriel – in October.

I am not really that sure if she is pregnant but I think she isn't pregnant yet.

If one would just scan her previous pictures even during last year's National Day she kind of looked pregnant but she was not. I think her hips are just lower and it's also her posture if I might say.

But we don't know yet maybe she really is pregnant.

My internet has been playing up all day so I’ve only just seen all of these photos. Thanks to everyone who posted them. How gorgeous is Gabriel? And little Elisabeth posing on the bench? Aww. They’ve all certainly grown up a lot. I haven’t seen many photos of Laetitia and she really takes after Astrid. Amedeo seems to really dote on her. Speaking of which; even though he looks good in anything he wears, I think he could have picked a different pair of pants and the buttons on his jacket are too ‘old’ for him. Albert’s jacket is pretty ordinary too. I can’t put into words how much I admire Philippe and Mathilde. They’re such a loving couple (yes, I know we shouldn’t judge a relationship based on photos, but still). I love her shirt. It’s very ‘summery’. Very lovely photos of Claire and Laurent too, and of course Louise. I don’t know if Claire is pregnant. I think it’s just the way she’s standing. I’m sure I would look that way too if I was holding a baby. I really love how they all seem to be close, especially the children. I wish I had that kind of relationship with my cousins. There aren’t too many photos of Astrid and Lorenz just by themselves which is a bit of a shame. Anyway, thanks again everyone.
