What a delight to write an article on Christmas! Merry christmas to everybody!

XIII National Day 23.06.2001

Princess Alexandra was not present at National Day 2002 but she was there on National Day 2001! It was Grand Duke Henri's first National Day as sovereign of Luxembourg!

1. Princess Alexandra and Prince Sebastien in the church (I don't envy them to stand before so many important persons!)

That would be quite cool. it would give some serious encouragement to women in the armed forces across the globe and to young girls everywhere.

Imagine Christmas in the Grand Ducal family with all the oppulent presents. Guillaume you will have your own boat for christmas, Felix your BMW Z4, Louis your Mercedes A-Class, Alexandra your swimming pool and Sebastien your own football field...

No this is naturally a little joke. But I'm asking me sometimes what they give each other for Christmas!

well, judging by the pics and from what's been posted on the boards here, they probably have pretty simple christmas celebrations and give pretty practical presents to each other. they might "splurge" on expensive gifts on special occasions, such as someone's landmark b'day or a special anniversary for something, which is probably a good thing, as it keeps em grounded and allows them to have some sense of "normalcy" amongst one another.

XV Rome visit on 7.6.2000

I have now pics from the Rome visit of the Grand Ducal family on 7.6.2000. Unfortunately I had never been in the fascinating capitel of Italy and thus I can not comment the pics as usually, but I have the story about Rome's foundation for you!

After a legend Rome was founded in 753 before J.C. The legend tells us that the twins Romulus and Remus were abandonned after their birth and raised by a she-wolf. After they were grown up, Romulus and Remus want create a new city on the birthplace. With their entourage, the Latins they were going to search the best place. For the settlement they finally took an area between seven hills and founded Rome. Than there were a quarrel about who will be the king in the future and Romulus killed Remus after the latter one had past a little symbolic wall with the words: "From now on everybody will be killed who makes one step over this wall!"
