GD Henri is only 50, GD Maria Teresa only 49 and they will be grandparents soon (comparison: GD Jean was 60 and GD Josephine-Charlotte 53 when their first grandchild Guillaume was born).

In the announcement there is emphasized that they are supporting the upcoming young parents and it is for sure a great delight for them:) ... but on the other side they are royals and thus they have certainly mixed feelings.

It is a little bit problematic because Louis is only 19 (and the third son!), his companion a commoner and they won't marry before the child is born.

I'm very doubtful about the fact they are thrilled. 19 is very young to become a father, I doubt they are happy. And what must be thinking the great-grand-father to be, grand-duke Jean?

There already exists to discuss Prince Louis' impending fatherhood and the Grand Ducal couple's imending grandparenthood.

Please continue this line of discussion at that thread (Prince Louis Will Become A Father!) so that discussions don't overlap and get repeated.

Thank you.

angry? no b/c children do not ask to come into this world. do i believe that both parties involved could've used much better judgement? absolutely. they both are old enough to know the consequenses of their actions, especially the action of....well you know. but since they've decided to keep the child, it show's maturity on their parts. however, we will never know what went on behind the scenes. mt and h, as well as the girl's parental units, could've forced the two to own up to their mistake. on the other hand, on the more "romantic" side, the two could've said they they are soooo in love with each other, want to be together forever, and simply couldn't keep their hands off each other; as a result, a baby's on the way. as far as we know, it could be one of these things, both, or a whole other host of things involved. i'm going with the ideal of a little bit of all the above. nonetheless, none of us were there, well, i can vouch only for myself. all in all, i think congrats? are in order for everyone involved as they have decided to keep the child. so, one can only hope for a healthy baby...phew, that was a long one. btw, as i said in another post, i wonder how his siblings feel about becoming uncles and an aunt as well as how are mt and h adjusting to the idea of becoming grandparents at their age?

As Alexandria has already stated, there is currently a whole thread dedicated to the discussion of Louis' impending fatherhood. Please discuss this there so as to not get two overlapping dicussions going. http://theroyalforums.com/forums/sho...077#post290077

Thank you.

From sportsfeatures.com:

'The Grand Duchess joins The International Paralympic Committee's Honorary Board'

"I would like to thank Sir Philip Craven for allowing me to join an organisation which is so close to my heart as it not only encourages athletes at a Paralympic level, but also gives enormous hope and inspiration to the many who are trying to surpass their physical boundaries on a daily basis"

Apparently it's a German state, this is what the official website says:

"In the heart of Europe lies Saarland, a German state that has France and Luxembourg as its neighbors, in a "triangle of nations" also known as "Saar-Lor-Lux"

Fifth throne anniversary of Grand Duke Henri
Happy and less happy hours in 60 months of reign

Today five years ago, Hereditary Grand Duke Henri ascended the throne succeeding his father Grand Duke Jean.
"It will be an exchange in the continuity with our own style", had explained the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple Henri and Maria Teresa in an interview with the Luxemburger Wort.Since then five years have passed. A reason to look back at the first 60 months of Grand Duke Henri's reign.

Grand Duke Henro lead Luxembourg as sovereign in the 21st century. It has been a dignified throne achievement with the good participation of the population. Since the beginning the new sovereign showed himself as a human monarch and explained his engagement for the weaks in the society.

An impressive remembrance for many inhabitants of Luxembourg will be the 12 visits of the "Joyeuses Entrées" of the Grand Ducal couple in every anton of Luxembourg (Luxembourg, Esch/Alzette, Remich, Vianden, Mamer, Redange, Grevenmacher, Diekrich, Wiltz, Echternach, Mersch and Clervaux). On the national side as well as on the international side Grand Duke Henri fulfilled his duties during his five years of reign. Let's remember his annual presence at the National Day celebrations (22 and 23 June) or at this appearance at the National Remembrance Day in October. Granmd Duke Henri represnted Luxembourg internationally with the state vists in Spain, Slovenia, Danmark, Ireland, Italy and Slovakia such as a visit in the Vatican to Pope Jean-Paul II.

The death of his beloved mother Josephine-Charlotte on 10th January 2005 was for sure an arduous day in the life of Grand Duke Henri.

Reasons for celebratations were his 50th birthday on 16th April 2005 which he celebrate with his wife Maria Teresa and his five children. They can be pleased about the baby who will be born during next spring. Prince Louis, third oldest son of the Grand Ducal couple and his girlfriend Tessy Anthony are expecting their first child and are making the Grand Ducal couple to proud grandparents.

:) I like seeing Henri and Maria smiling still after all these years married. Also seeing more and more progress of new up-to-date technology happening in Luxembourg. I hope the new train have great success for the citizens all over.
