Princess Madeleine, Current Events Part 9: June 2012 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Oh my, does she ever NOT cancel? Madde lives at the mews, so how can she decline an appointment which is literally at her doorstep??? To me, there is no acceptible excuse here.
With 20/20 hindsight I am guessing the cause of the cancellation was pregnancy related.

So, is Madeleine back to being a full-time working royal now ? I guess she got bored with the bourgeois life she had in New York and rediscovered how much more fun it is to be a princess supported by the State.

Anna de Geer, the Secretary General of World Childhood Foundation, said to Svensk Damtidning that Madeleine will continue to work for Childhood.
Expressen wrote a couple of days ago that Madeleine will do some royal work events during the spring, mostly in Stockholm.

Does anyone know when was the last time she visited her other province, Halsingland?

I think that it is this visit which Madeleine and Victoria made on 15th June 2009

About the visit on 2nd February, it is rather short:
The visit will begin with lunch at Gävle Castle with invited guests representing sports, culture and business. In the end of the lunch entrepreneur Anna-Sofia Winroth from Gefle Chocolateri tells about business.
Then Madeleine visits Esri Sweden, one of Scandinavia's leading companies in the production of software for Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The visit ends at the recreation center Helges, where Lars Hall, director and Johan Jämtberg, music producer, says welcome and inform about the activities. Helges is an activity center where everyone is welcome regardless of cultural background. Recreation center has a wide range of activities, including soccer, dance, girl groups, fitness, language café and music.

''Monday, March 23, Princess Madeleine attended a national conference on human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The conference was held at the Clarion Hotel and organized by the provincial government in Stockholm.
County Governor Chris Heister opened the conference and spoke about human trafficking as modern-day slavery, and the fact that children are exposed makes it even worse.

The first day focused on children who are victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Another speaker was among others Ulrika Rogland, former prosecutor, and Katia Wagner, author and journalist.

In the afternoon, Asa Landberg, psychologist and psychotherapist reported, "The long journey - meetings with children who are suspected victims of trafficking and exploitation."

''An incredibly important conference with pressing issues. I am glad to participate together with Childhood and that in this way we can lift Childhood's work and the importance of preventing sexual exploitation and abuse of children," said Princess Madeleine of the conference.

Trafficking in Stockholm. "You get a little afraid of the dark when you know how many millions of children are victims of this everyday in world," says Madeleine.

Almost two months ago the court announced that Princess Madeleine moved to Sweden.
Now she has had time to do more official engagements in Sweden and in an interview, the Princess speaks of what she thinks about human trafficking and sexual exploitation, her move to Stockholm and the tragic news that Max Stenbeck passed away.
- It's clear that it's really horrible. We all think of Sophie and her family and are there for them, says Princess Madeleine.

After about four years in Manhattan where she lived with Chris O'Neill came the news that the family, with little Leonore, is moving back to Sweden. In Stockholm, the princess resides in one of the apartments of the royal Royal Court, and on several occasions, Chris O'Neill and the princess, who is happy to be back on Swedish soil, have been sighted in the capital.
- It's great to be home with family and friends. It's fun, she says.
No risk of collision
In connection with Madeleine relocating to Stockholm the court also confirmed that the princess will give birth to her second child in Sweden. During the King's and Queen's state visit to Finland recently the Queen spoke to Expressen saying that Madeleine's second child is scheduled to arrive in June, the same month that Prince Carl Philip and Sofia are getting married.
But there's no risk of collision between the wedding and birth as the wedding is scheduled for the 13th of June while the child is expected to come at the end of same month.
Madeleine who had their first child in the US is confident about giving birth in Sweden.
- Yes, I will. It's an exciting time ahead of us. There is a lot of fun going on, says the princess.
But it is not just the happy news for the princess. Two weeks ago, Max Stenbeck passed away, only 30 years old, affecting the princess. She has been friends with his sister Sophie Stenbeck since childhood and her father, Jan Stenbeck, who died in 2002, was a friend of the king. Sophie Stenbeck has previously praised the princess's and The Queens work against human trafficking and their interest in charity issues which they have in common.
- It's really horrible. We think of Sophie and her family and are there for them, she says.
Max Stenbeck is not the only heavy topic for Madeleine, who recently attended a conference on human trafficking at the Clarion Hotel in Stockholm, where she spoke at several lecturers, among other things, grooming county administrative work to identify what it is that brings trouble and help refugees who are coming to Sweden and carried away, and in some cases subjected to various kinds of abuse.
Madeleine tells us that it has been a hectic day but these are very important issues and she thinks it is completely unacceptable that there are human trafficking and sexual exploitation, 2015.
- It is completely unacceptable. It's really terrible and it's such a big problem in our society. You get a little afraid of the dark when you know how many millions of children are victims of this everyday in world, says Madeleine.
What has made the biggest impression on the princess?
- I think the whole day has been interesting. It has been hectic but the issues raised are so important, so it is difficult to say that one is more important than another. But there is a big problem regarding all of the unaccompanied refugee children who disappear. It was a big part of the morning which was spent talking about the problem. This afternoon we have just covered grooming. It is also so very scary to see how many young girls there are who are victims of this and do not dare say anything. They take on this and believe that it is their own fault. It is so important and we need to reach out, it is not their own fault. It is the responsibility of adults to be there for young children and ask how they really feel, really listen and ask questions again. It takes a lot before reaching the youth and there are so many, unfortunately, who are doing very badly and who suffered atrocities which exploited them sexually.
During the day there has been talks about the Internet and smartphones as a platform where many of these people seek contact. The Princess has a child herself and waits another. Are you nervous or worried that your children should be contacted in any way?
- Of course I am. Again, it is so important that we adults take our responsibility and really ask our children, and talk to them about what they do. That you tell them not to put information about themselves or where they live. This is so important. It's scary. As mentioned earlier in the day, a few years ago with Alexander's case. Before, perhaps there were computers in homes which everyone used for information, now most use a smartphone where one has internet access. There is so much more accessibility, it is scary, says the princess.
The Internet is incredibly important - also
Anna Hårleman De Geer, General Secretary of Childhood, adds:
- At the same time, the internet is incredibly important for children. It is available as a part of our society. It is very important that the internet may be used for good purposes as well. But it happens, as we spoke earlier, many times children know what others are doing in real life, thorugh the internet. One would never say to their children that it is okay to go to a dangerous place in life, it's the same thing on the internet. There are places that you do not go either, she says.''

The court updated to their calendar some days ago that Madeleine will attend with the royal family to the opening of the Parliament on 15th September. Margareta Thorgren told to Expressen that Madeleine travels to Stockholm and back to London on the same day. Madeleine has decided to attend because it is an important event. Madeleine comes alone, the children stay in London and Chris has another trip and like he has earlier told he can't attend to all royal duties, says Thorgren. Madeleine attends at the church service and at the opening of the Parliamentary session, but not at the performance at the Royal Opera in the evening, then she has already flown back to London to her children.

I think that for once the court has made the right decision. At least we got a clarification about things before a certain event...

Madeleine has been added to dates of 25 and 26 November with Global Child Forum.
