May is also without "R" so not so lucky month to marry.

Oh, so the court released the date before it was completely agreed on? :whistling:

I think that Madeleine just published it today at her Facebook. As Bertil Ternert said, the date had been agreed in a family meeting with the king and the queen, and an official press release put to the court website on 23th December. If the press is right, Madeleine and Chris left Stockholm and spent Christmas with Chris' family in London.

I was just kidding :ROFLMAO: I just think it´s fun that the court released the date before Christmas and htne Pss Madeleine posts this announcemnet like it was decided during Christmas :ROFLMAO:

The court has confirmed to Svensk Damtidning that the wedding will be a two day event with a welcoming dinner on 7th June. Svensk Damtidning also writes about 400 guests (at Estelle's christening at the same church there were about 500 guests)
Damtidning has asked from Bertil Ternert: "Can a british american get a title of a duke?"
Ternert answered: "The marshal of the Realm is just now figuring out this question".
And Damtidning thinks that this is a clear sign that the king wants to make his son-in-law the Duke of Hälsingland and Gästrikland.

Good. I was afraid that due to her being the youngest child, she would get a much smaller stick in regards to a wedding. I'm glad that she gets a two day event. She may not be the future queen or the only son, but she deserves a nice event. I would say that 400 is a nice number.

Of course Madeleine's wedding will be smaller than Victoria's.
There was a dinner at Drottningholm Palace hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on Thursday with a lot of royal guests. On Friday there was a
Government reception at the Stockholm City Hall and dinner at the Eric Ericson-hall, hosted by the Swedish government and a Concert at Stockholm Concert Hall, hosted by the Swedish parliament.

According to Svensk Damtidning, the alternatives for the place of the welcoming dinner of Madeleine's and Chris' wedding are the Drottningholm Palace, The Royal Palace and the Ulriksdal Palace.

Bertil Ternert from the court press department told to Svensk Damtidning, that it has not yet been decided if the wedding will be broadcasted on TV.
- It is not finally decided how it will be. It is Princess Madeleine who decides, says Bertil Ternert.
Crown Princess Victoria's wedding was paid for by taxpayers. Princess Madeleine's wedding will be funded by the King himself.
Madeleine wants as private wedding as possible. But according to the court, she is now looking at the proposals received. SVT and TV4 are the TV channels who are fighting for the rights.

Same! I will have to watch all of it in clips or online at BBC or somewhere else as I can't get it in the states on normal TV. ;(

Obviously the royal family has discussed about the news in yesterday's Expressen and Svensk Damtidning, since Madeleine told to Expressen, that of course the swedish people can enjoy of a part of the wedding. Madeleine said that they are discussing now about it within the family. It isn't just up to her, it is the king who makes the final decision after talking with Madeleine and Chris. When the reporter asked what Madeleine would want, she was quiet for some seconds and said "You have to understand, I do not want you to do a great article about this". Madeleine said that she has had it clear that the swedish people can take part at their wedding. But she doesn't know how much it will be, if it is just at the church or the whole evening. But a certain part will be broadcasted on TV. The reporter said that does Madeleine understand that people want to see the actual ceremony in the church? Madeleine said: Absolutely, I think we haven't thought of anything other than that the Swedish people to take part of it. Madeleine said that they are talking about what TV channels will be included, there is so much to think about, and it's not just up to her.

Why would the king not escort his daughter down the aisle? This makes no sense to me!
Because it's not a Swedish wedding tradition that the father of the bride walks his daughter to the altar, the tradition here is that bride and groom walk together up to the altar. There was a lot of criticism here in Sweden when Victoria wanted her father to walk her up to the altar, both from priests and the public, as it was seen as dated and giving the impression that the father hands his daughter to the husband as a piece of property, something that has no place in a society where equality between man and women is important. I do hope Madeleine doesn't choose to have her father walk her to the altar, if that's what she wants she could as well get married in the U.S. and follow American traditions, instead of trying to impose them into a Swedish wedding tradition.

With this explanation that you just gave, I hope that she does not as well.

Thank you for explaining! I don't know what customs are in Sweden, and this now gives me a more clear view.

there a 5 months left for the wedding i think its about time we got another press release..............

According to Svensk Damtidning Madeleine has chosen major general Håkan Pettersson to the official wedding coordinator. Pettersson was the official wedding coordinator at Victoria's and Daniel's wedding, and everyone, including Victoria and Daniel, were very satisfied with his work.

I think that the wedding will be broadcasted via TV and after reading the interview my pleasure about the wedding has increased.

As the wedding will be an afternoon wedding with dinner afterwards it would mean that it's going to be a tiara event.

It's possible that the transport out to Drottningholm will be made by boat the same way as after the wedding of princess Christina and Tord Magnusson.

so the guestlist is done, why wait until April 1st to send them?

does Madeleine have godchildren? if yes, some of them might be the flower girls, since she said she will have children like her mother and sister had.

About the guestlist, Madeleine used the word "nog" which has a bit of uncertainty in it, so I would guess the guest list is more or less done, but there are still a few decisions to make.

As far as I know Madeleine (and Carl Philip) are only godparents to the one each of the twin girls born in 2008 to their cousin Patrik Sommerlath. Even if Madeleine doesn't have any more godchildren there are a number of children in different ages among her cousins to choose from, and probably also among Chris' side too.

Chris' half sister from his mother's first marriage, Tatjana has three children: Anoushka Maria Violet, born 1991, Celina Maria Isabel, born 1996 and Jasper Henry Erland, born 2001.
The other half sister from his mother's second marriage, Natascha has daughter Milana, born 1996 and according to Svensk Damtidning also a son, whose name I didn't find, he is younger than Milana.
I don't know about the children of his half sisters from his father's side.

Another glittering event to look forward to.

I´m so happy that it´s been confirmed that it will be an afternoon wedding (= tiaras :D), and dinner at Drottningholm sounds perfect - it´s such a beautiful palace and surroundings, I hope they take the boat out to the palace beacuse that´s a very beautful ride. Now my dream would be if Madeleine would allow camreras inside the reception like Victoria did - but I don´t think she will. And let´s hope the Swedes (and the guests) dig deep into the jewellry waults :flowers:
