Does anyone else find that outfit that Chris' mother is wearing rather - well strange? I realize women are staying "younger" longer, but that really is a bit much.

It looks very warm and comfortable to me, and that's the main thing. As a bonus, all the items she's wearing seem to match. The look is a bit eccentric but I value eccentricity. I think that outfit makes her look like she might be fun and on the strength of this outfit I give her my yay for the day.

I think little Leonore will go by 'Nora', a name that is so hot right now in the US...and then her initials will be from Nora O'Neill - NON - as in non-royal, non-Swedish, non-interested etc...Nora O'Neill sounds so normal and nice and a good disguise...but Princess Leonore Lilian Maria sounds (semi) regal for someone WAY down the line of succession...All in all a good choice :)

Do you think it's real fur? It looks like rabbit to me, or perhaps feral cats. I hope it's not something rare and endangered.

No one is blaming her for visiting her grandchild I'am only issue my opinion on the kind of way she dresses and to me that is a mirror of the kind of women she is...

Like some other posters I am wondering what the "kind of woman she is" means?
She is dressed appropriatly and behaving well.
It's not the kind of coat I'll wear,it's a bit eccentric but it is certainly not inappropriate. In the weathiest part of Paris or in Versailles, many women of Mrs O'neill's age dress that way.
Expensive fur or cheap one that's none of our business, she is a private citizen, she earns her own money and therefore has the right to buy what she wants.
As for those criticising the O'Neill family for not attending the te Deum,I guess you will have criticized them too if they attended:D

And why would I have done that? If Eva O'Neill or one of her daughters should attend at the Te Deum, they wouldn't be there because they want attention or to be photographed. They would be there because their new family member is also a member of the swedish royal family and Te Deum is arranged because of her birth. There is nothing to criticize if they should attend, at least I would respect them.

I do like Nora, but I think of it more as a nickname for Eleonora rather than Leonore. If they do give little Leonore a nickname, they could go for Leo - it sounds cute, but it's also a boys name. However IMO they will just call her Leonore.

I apologize if this question has already been answered, but do we know when the christening will be?

No, it was just announced that it will be in early summer in the Royal chapel where Madeleine and Chris married.
I think it would be nice to have the christening on her parents´ first wedding anniversary....:flowers::flowers:

Wow! I didn't realize what a storm I was starting. I wasn't criticizing her life style or the type of person she is. That was definitely not my intention. I guess what I was trying to put across was that I felt she was dressed more like a twenty-something. And, also, no I don't think older women need to give up on fashion once they get older.

Aftonbladet writes that although Leonore and her family will not attend at Te Deum, other members of the royal family will. And even Estelle can follow:
- The possibility is quite big. They take her with them if she feels good for the day. So it was at Madeleine's wedding and it is not at all impossible that she will attend, says royal expert Roger Lundgren.
On Friday Prince Carl Philip and cohabitant Sofia Hellqvist skied StafettVasan. The prince comes to the Royal Chapel. And it is also likely that his partner does too.
- She may well be invited. She was invited to both Estelle's baptism and Madeleine's wedding. This is also an official thing and she appears more and more with the royal family. It is yet another proof that an engagement is closely approaching, says Lundgren.
But the Royal Court has no information if she is among those invited .
Although no response is required, Chris O'Neill's family in the UK and the U.S. announced that they will not attend.
- They have not had the opportunity to come to Sweden, there has been relatively short notice yet to come this Sunday. So they were forced to decline the Te Deum, says Annika Sönnerberg.

Approximately 200-300 invitations have been sent out to family, friends and relatives and representatives of parliament, government, Swedish authorities and the Royal Court.

They chose the Church of Sweden other than Catholicism... I'm guessing this is because she can't be in the line of succession as a catholic?

Of course that is the reason.
The christening is likely in May like Estelle's.

Columnist Lena Mellin in Aftonbladet about Leonore and her place in the order of succession
Royal Court's interpretation of the constitution has concluded that it means little Leonore can stay in the U.S. until she turns seven but then to go in the Swedish school, take a Swedish school graduation and speak perfect Swedish.
One might ask why parents want to raise their newborn daughter to all of these restrictions, but it is the decision the couple O'Neill has taken. That means they will either eventually move to Sweden or let their offspring go to boarding school in Sweden or in Swedish school abroad.
All the king's uncles, except Prince Bertil, lost their prince titles when they married the ordinary, bourgeois women. But at that time there was a wealth of possible heirs to the throne. King has a little more complicated. If he wants the Bernadotte dynasty to sit secure on the throne, you have to bull up with more candidates than Victoria's children. What if Estelle or her potential future siblings have not the urge to go the traditional route ?
Because of this the new interpretation on the order of succession, which in itself is not necessarily wrong. But it puts the little princess in a golden cage where she must not choose a religion, husband or mother tongue of her own mind.

Quite odd that obviously no one of king's sisters of their families attended, just Patrick and Maline Sommerlath. Johan T Lindwall wrote from the chapel that there weren't Madeleine's and Chris' friends either. Lindwall had seen princess Birgitta in Stockholm on Friday. Victoria looked lovely in her recycled white dress, obviously her foot injury was more serious than the court has told since it hasn't healed yet.
It is also interesting that this time the royal family made a very festive entry from the main stairs and door of the Royal Chapel. To Estelle's Te Deum they came from the "family door".

Of course we all know that the reason the King's uncle, Prince Bertil, didn't lose his title after he married a normal, borgeouise woman, is because the law changed because the new King married a normal, borgeouise woman, in l976.And we all know that Bertil and Lillian waited a very long time to marry.
The King, because of his own history of losing his father, may be particularly sensitive to the order of succession. Victoria may not be able to have any more chldren, we are not privy to that and she will soon be 37. CP's girl friend seems to be stepped up. I believe Leonore's parents were talked into this "interim" decision by the King. He is the one to give the titles, he is the one who is responsible for the succession.
The royal family looks wonderful. What a nice ritual to thank God for a new baby.
Sophia has never looked better, imo.

Queen Silvia looks regal and elegant, as usual. She also looks so delighted.

Sophia looks so lovely, very elegant.

Victoria continues her growth as heiress apparent to the throne. She looks very regal today.

Queen Silvia looks just incredibly well.

Victoria seems to be a little tired and more serious as usually.

As for Sofia's outfit, I think it doesn't fit her well. First of all colour and then model, she looks like a pupil attending the first official event. There was no need for this colour, just my opinion.

All members of the royal family looked very serious while they were sitting. They smiled much more at Estelle's Te Deum. Sofia surely tried so hard.

Johan T Lindwall said at Expressen's video that the Te Deum wasn't as festive occasion as Estelle's. Estelle is the future queen, that's the difference between the princesses. It was more like a normal church service. Less guests than at Estelle's. And no one of Chris' family were there. Lindwall said also that he knows that Ewa and Olle Westling came yesterday to Haga Palace and were taking care of Estelle.
Margareta Heed from Svensk Damtidning said that it was more like a family occasion. Less guests than at Estelle's. No one from Chris' family, no friends of Madeleine and Chris. Heed says that it is a pity that there weren't more family members and friends at the chapel. Maybe it was just for the closest family. Or maybe just people couldn't attend. About Sofia, she sat behind the queen. She talked with Patrick Sommerlath it seems to be in at the family and Heed thinks that it is so nice.

Sofia was sitting beside Bertil Bernadotte, the son of Folke Bernadotte. On her other side was Patrick Sommerlath.

Very odd IMO that Sofia is there and no one from Chris'family. Anyway Sofia's skirt is too short... Don't like that girl at all

:previous: I'm not a huge fan of Sofia's either, but I liked what she was wearing today and don't think her coat and dress were too short. Her hairstyle was also nice. Victoria's outfit was of a similar length. Perhaps she was there because Carl Philip wanted an escort, or because the Royal Family have accepted her and have allowed her to attend more royal events. (She attended Queen Silvia's birthday celebrations last December.)

It looks as if Victoria's foot has improved a lot, she's not wearing crutches anymore, but a small cast. :)

No, it was just announced that it will be in early summer in the Royal chapel where Madeleine and Chris married.

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps we'll see a christening in May or June, or even April. I also agree with you, that would be nice and romantic – Leonore's christening in the same place and on the same day that her parents got married. :)

Victoria's dress was just above her knees while Sofia's was covering half of her thights, no comparison, sorry. ;) Whoever would be wearing such a dress it would be always too short for this occassion.

I'm still not sure what to think about this gathering, they tried to make it small family affair, yet except the immediate family from Leonore's mother's side nearly everyone else was missing.

Very nice that Sofia attended and sat right behind the royal family.

As I understand it, even previously there were no restrictions on who a Swedish king could marry. For a prince, on the other hand, the king's approval as well as the government's approval (on the king's recommendation) is required. The 1810 law stipulated that a prince would lose his rank if he married a woman who didn't belong to the nobility, but in 1938 that was changed to a Swedish woman who didn't belong to the nobility.

So Carl Gustaf could marry Silvia because he was already the king and as the king, he could approve his uncle's marriage.

I'm not a Sofia fan ... but, enough already! Just announce the engagement and get on with it. Why else would she be seated behind Queen Silvia?

People in Sweden ... she can't be half as bad as another "less than likely" royal in another European country. Wink, wink, nod, nod :)

Indeed, announce it and get it over with.

A pity that this service became the Sofia show, according to a newspaper. Compared to previous events she seemed a bit more demure though, less smiling and posing. The rest of the family seemed to be attending a funeral service, they looked a bit tired and not in a good mood.

Sofia is tacky as usual and was the only one who was smiling... A "Te Deum" should be a solemn but joyful occasion... It seemed almost a funeral :-(
