And this was a first -- I learned of the birth on my break at work because the royal court did an Instagram Live video of the gun salute for the little princess.

Anyway, I'm so happy for Madeleine, Chris, and their growing family. Can't wait to hear what name they've picked out.

I cant wait to hear the name and duchy. I wonder if they might consider using Victoria (as a middle name) since the little baby's name is being announced on her name day.

The fact that the Swedes still follow that very formal ritual, even for the 10th (?) in line to the throne, puzzles me.

I think it would have been even more strange if they suddenly stopped following the old rituals for this (and future) grandchildren. I think it's a great tradition, with the council of states, Te Deum and all.
