[QUOTE=LadyFinn;1674072]To me the difference is that Andrew and Harry work for their royal title. We see photos of it, if we want to find out. They meet the common people of their country in their duties. Even Carl Philip works, although too little. But Madeleine doesn't work hardly at all, she comes to Sweden to attend at the family celebrations and "represents" like that. But she hasn't hardly any if none, normal royal solo work duties in Sweden. She wants to have all the royal glory without any boring obligations. I know that she works for the World Childhood Foundation, but she could do that as mrs Madeleine Bernadotte O'Neill. We all have our opinions and this is mine. The criticism against the royal family, how much they work and how they spend their apanage is growing all the time. As a fan of the swedish royal family I'm concerned about the future of it.

I have to agree on some points you state! Princes Andrew and Harry served as servicemen for their country and overtook a huge workload of royal duties. Both are the monarchs son (one of them already, the other one in the future), which none of Prcss Madeleines children ever will be.
Royal titles always go with high expectations from the public. I still don´t know why in times of scaling down royal families to prevent too much costs for the state (many members of a royal family= much money from the civil list), the King insisted on making this particular grandchild a royal princess and created her a duchess...? I mean, what´s wrong with being a commoner? Both his daughters married one. That things are different for Victoria and Estelle is fair enough and no one would criticise that.
I doubt if Prcss Madeleine is to blame here! I´m sure if the King said something like "Make a decision. If you marry Chris your children will be little Mr. and Miss O´Neills", she surely would have agreed on that!
But why children of a princess who obviously enjoys living abroad and not being too fond about working as a Royal have to have royal titles and tax payers money from the civil list that goes with it when they´ll come of age when saving it would have been so easy is beyond me...?!
But don´t get me wrong: I like the O´Neills, they´re a beautiful family with a lovely cute little daughter. But that´s not my point.

The christening was grander than I expected it to be, but it was a nice service. I enjoyed the singer dressed in pink (whom I assume was singing in German). The godparents were kind of who I expected, and I remember correctly guessing CP Victoria, Louise Gottlieb and Tatjana d'Abo.

Little Leonore is a beautiful baby and I've always thought the small Order of the Seraphim is adorable. She reminds me a little of Prince George at his christening, I think it's the eyes that do it. Estelle was also very cute throughout, as always. I love how she was climbing on the chair and displayed everything, as well as her little waves. I thought Sofia was posing in an appropriate way, and also that her outfit wasn't too short. I think she'll always get critiques though. (And I'm not aiming this at some posters here, so don't get me wrong.)

I'm pleased that the christening was on a Sunday, because that means I had time to watch the live stream and catch up on the bits I missed. I find it interesting how the godparents didn't stand around the altar, is this not a tradition in Sweden? This is common in my country. Also, the live stream were filming a girl, who looked around 14 or 15 years old and a boy, who looked around 11 or 12 years old a lot. Are they Sommerlath relatives or children of friends of Madeleine or Chris/children of one of Chris's relatives?

Actually Chris did hold Leonore, in the live stream he was shown holding her after the bishop had poured the water over her forehead.

The ones who sat behind the godparents? I believe that's Chris's niece and nephew, Chiara and Louis Abensperg und Traun – his sister, Natascha, and Leonore's godfather, Count Ernst's children as well as Madeleine's bridal attendants.

Yeah I am just watching it now. It was waaay too short for my liking though – men with babies is my kryptonite He should have carried her out of the church.

Yes, I meant the two children behind the godparents. Thanks for the info. I like that we got to see Chris holding Leonore, at least he didn't not hold her, although I do agree with you, it would've been nice if we saw more of him holding her. However in most cases, babies prefer to be held by their mothers, so perhaps Leonore is a 'mummy's girl'.

I believe grandchildren of Swedish monarchs in the line of succession have traditionally been HRHs and royal dukes. King Carl XVI Gustaf is just following precedent then. The only difference now is that, since 1980, women have been also in the line of succession, which wasn't the case before.

For me it was lovely that before the Royal Family arrived at church the guests could hear the music that was played one year before as King Carl XVI Gustaf lead his daughter to her bridegroom.

Nice Christening but I'm quite surprised it was so grand and so public. I thought, as Leonore is unlikely to be a major part of the official, working Royal Family that her christening would be an important but private family event.

But then again, she is Madeleine's daughter so I doubt she'll be allowed to do anything low key.

I guess Christopher had missed his father today. He would have been very pleased to attend the christening of his granddaughter.

Archbishop Anders Wejryd told to Expressen about the lunch: The Queen pointed her words to them specifically on the grounds that it was their wedding anniversary today. It was exactly one year since their marriage.
The king greeted the little princess welcome in the family:
- He spoke particularly about the joy of welcoming the little baby and that she was now really there, said Wejryd.
Count Ernst Abensperg und Traun, married to Chris's half-sister Natascha, chose to speak about what it means to be baptized.
- He spoke very nicely about the meaning of baptism and to belong to the great international world of God, said Wejryd.

Chris went at 20.00 to his favourite restaurant Sturehof with his mother, sisters Natascha and Tatjana and their husbands and Alice Bamford. More guests are waited to arrive during the evening. Victoria arrived to Drottningholm Palace at about 21.00, Carl Philip and Sofia arrived also there just before Victoria.

It was a lovely christening. I love the way the three Swedish royal women always coordinate their dresses - choosing lace was inspired.

As always Victoria did a wonderful job handling a very well-behaved Estelle.

Did anyone else see - it was very quick - Estelle put her finger up to her lips to shush someone across the aisle. Very cute. It was before the ceremony began.

Lovely family.

This is a wonderful picture of Christopher, Madeleine and Leonore:

https://twitter.com/Royaleurope/stat...723456/photo/1

Christopher is so proud about his wife and his daughter (His eyes seems saying: "Madeleine, you did a wonderful job giving me this little treasure Leonore.")

Madeleine is searching the ideal position to protect her daughter from sunshine.
