Many, many congrats to Dutch dressagestar Anky van Grunsven, who became an Olympic champion for the third time in a row!!!

One question: Why doesn't the King of Spain come to Beijing to see the games? Is there any reason for this?

Sweden was competing in mens high jump but didn't get any medals..

Thanks Lilla
I thought perhaps Sweden and Spain were competing and K Constantine was teasing Q Sofia. They all seemed in a good mood.

¡Silver in taekwando! In the 58kgs. category. That is one of the martial arts. He gets 3.5 millions from the State (33 pesos for 1 dollar). And maybe more from private sources. :flowers:

There are hopes of gold or silver in boxing next friday. He already has bronze. :flowers:

Our main star is injured and did not classify for the final. Félix Sánchez, who won gold in Athens 2004 in 400m.hurdles, track and field. Such a pity. :ermm:

Thanks Julliette.

Lovely photoes.

Unfortunatly Princess Nathalie :daneflag: didn't achieve her goal of ending up among the top 12. She became no. 15.

But she got bronze at the team dressage - and not only was she the one who did the best preformance on her team, it was the first medal for Denmark. We have got others after that but hers was the first.

OOOOHHHH!!! Argentina beats Greece in basketball, I think that King Constantine and Ann Marie have been in the game but I have not found the images
ARGENTINA 80 GREEK 75.

Queen Sofia returns this morning to Madrid because of the plane crash, assumable Infanta Cristina with her husband too.

No pictures of Queen Silvia, King Carl Gustaf and Prince Carl Phillip from yesterday??

thank you!

Did they not attend an sportsevent yesterday??

it is considerable that willem alexander returned to Beijing from the Stockholm Water Week. Fly hlaf around the world and back and then flying back to Amsterdam isn't normal, but it's great to see that he supports the sportsmen and sportswomen of his country like this.

Why is Nastia Liukin called Princess Frog? I know its supposed to be derogatory but does she look like a frog? I dont think she looks like a frog. Yes her farhead is large but she's has beautiful lines and does elegant gymnastics IMO. Glad she won the all-around and glad that Shawn Johnson won the gold on beam.

I sincerely hope that IOC Prseident does not declare this the best Olympics every, as he usually does at the closing ceremony. I'm starting to see why it maybe wasn't such a good idea to give China the Olympic Games. :bang:

Former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch had that habit of saying "the best ever" at every Olympic closing ceremony except during the 1996 Olympics, which was mired in over-commercialism charges. The new IOC president, Jacques Rogge, has since stopped that.

I thought I heard him come close enough in Athens but did not exactly said.......best ever. We thought they were very good and a lot of athletes and dignitaries who expressed their opinions were saying that Athens 2004 were the best they have been to in recent memory.
Can't wait to hear what he says for the Beijing ones.

Infanta Cristina and Inaki Urdangarin stayed in Beijing, Queen Sofia returned to Madrid.

A moment of silence, held for the victims of the Spanair MD-82 that crashed at Madrid's airport the day before, is attended by Carlos Blasco Villa (R), Spanish ambassador to China, Alesandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Mercedes Cabrera, Spain's minister of education and science, Spanish Princess Cristina, her husband Inaki Urdangarin and former president of the International Olympic Committee Juan Antonio Samaranch from Spain
