Now there's something to make one feel warm and fuzzy. I don't understand the need to be so nasty at any time, but especially when a person is going through something stressful, such as a major competition. Glad there will be some legal action taken against this lunatic.

Michael Phelps just lost his 'main' event the 200m butterfly to Chad LeClos.

Team USA win 4x 200m freestyle relay. Michael gets his 15th gold.

Chad Le Clos, South Africa, won men's 200 m butterfly. Fantastic swim, another swimming gold to South Africa.

Great swim by Le Clos. Phelps is not the dominant swimmer he was 4 years ago, although he has now tied the record for most Olympic medals.
Princess Charlene's offer of training facilities in Monaco for the South African team prior to the games may not have helped the SA team ( no way to really know) but it certainly did not hurt them. The SA swim team is having a pretty successful Olympics so far.

At first I was stunned at you for saying this. But then I read further into this 'case' and read that he also threatened with death (not just to Tom Daley) and racist towards Asian people. There should indeed be some kind of legal action.

Yes. It was not just a tweet to Tom Daley. I read his whole timeline and it was truly vile. Can't repeat them but to lots of different people too . Tonight the police say they are investigating the other tweets too . It's sad someone this young can be so full of hate. Needs help .

He sure sounds like a piece of sh.t, for sure. I can't imagine they can really punish him though. The internet is a free medium for anyone to use.

Not entirely, you are still responsible for what you write and can be sued for libel or in this case prosecuted for uttering death threats.

I've worked with kids, and you'd surprised at what they say (and the sad part is, they bring it from home). The quote from a song from 'South Pacific' 'you've got to be taught to hate and fear' rings very, very true. Hate is not something we're born with. It is something that is taught, and modeled even. I'd say that this person has seen his share of hatred, either at home, or among his peers. Very, very sad indeed, and at a time when people are supposed to come together in peace, to celebrate accomplishment.

USSR Olympic team used to be comprised of the best talent available in the republics. I think that the Russian federation still has got the strongest gymnastics and figure-skating schools.

In an interview of the silver medalist in equestrian, swedish Sara Algotsson Ostholt, she tells about the meeting with prince Daniel and prince Carl Philip:
- Yes, it was cool, I had not counted on that! They came down and hugged me, so now maybe I should not shower for a few days.
The whole interview

A wonderful achievement and quite the day in history for women's rowing in GB.

The Princess Royal and Sir John Major were seated behind William and Henry also.

Eight badminton players have just been disqualified from the games for purposely loosing their matches last night so as to get a better draw in the next round.
