I was joking - of course it will be white or cream.

Perhaps they will take Grace's wedding gown out of the Princes sGrace exhibition and alter it.

Charlene could definitely not fit inside Grace's dress!!! She is much more heavily built

For some reason, I thought I read somewhere (maybe on this board), that there were some problems with how Grace's dress preserved, i.e., while they're still able display it, somehow the preservation methods had a negative impact on the quality of the dress over the years, so it wouldn't be suitable to use again. Maybe my memory is playing jokes on me though...

Why would she wear her dead mother-in-law's wedding dress, even if it was altered? That sounds macabre. I mean, there are already people here going off the rails accusing Charlene of trying to copy Grace, if she wore the same dress, even with changes, she'd be raked across the coals.

I would definitely say Armani as she has an association with them already. I don't know if there are any Monegasque designers she could used it might be good to show her support of her new country. (I don't think she would pick a South African designer although there are quite a few good ones.)

Isn't she South African? It would be nice to see her in a creation of a designer from her own home country. But I doubt that to be honest....

How about Hendrik Vermeulen? He's South African and specialises in haute couture. Of course there is Simon Rademan, Abigail Keats or Kara Janx but they might not be so appropriate. Ah! I wish Victor Stiebel were still around. He was South African, wasn't he? She could get some of his vintage stuff. I saw an evening dress he designed in Paris. Honestly, I nearly died it was so gorgeous.

I would love to see her in a very delicate dress covered in pearls, diamonds and with some beautiful lace.
Marchesa or Valentino.

I don't see why Caro and Charlotte must wear Chanel, I understand that they like it, but they can differ from the norm.

Valentino! The master of femininity. I love his work.
Had you asked me a year ago if Caroline would wear Chanel, I would have said yes absolutely. But now, she's straying a little. Which is great because I'm not keen on Karl's recent collections. And Charlotte is more of a Gucci girl now.
Just please God don't let Charlene's dress be Armani. I love him and I think he's a genius but I can't see him designing a wedding gown. His style is too angular and conceptual.

Armani did Katie Holmes's wedding gown and it was very pretty.

I was thinking the same thing about Armani, that his designing style might be too severe and angular...but haven't the magnificent evening gowns worn by Charlene recently all been Armani Prive? That strapless, dusky rose sheath that she wore a few weeks ago was drop gorgeous!

Katie Holmes' beautiful wedding gown was Valentino, I believe. I LOVE his evening wear.

Oh I know Giorgio designed Katie's dress. And I have to say I didn't like it much. One of the few times I've ever disliked an A-line cut. It was too severe for my taste and not at all feminine IMO.

I never heard of this 6 months wait because of protocol.
Philippe and Mathilde got engaged in september and were married in december.

I don't really see the big deal over the long engagement. There have been several during the last few years.

That's the way the Belgian Royal Family did it. That's not necessarily how the Monegasque Princely Family does it. You shouldn't use one couple as an example for another. It doesn't always work.

That's true. Even Prince Albert's parents, Prince Rainier and the former Grace Kelly, didn't announce the exact wedding date until a several weeks after the engagement announcement.

That's true, but then again, Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace were engaged on January 5, 1956 and married a little more than 4-months later on April 18/19th of that year. No extended time there, but may I remind you that in the Netherlands, The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima were engaged on March 30, 2001 but didn't marry until February 2nd of the following year - a full 10-months later. That says nothing of the recent nuptials of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel on June 19th, some 15-months following their February 24, 2009 engagement. Now while each royal (or in this case, princely) court may prescribe to their own protocol in handling such matters, I can only surmise that among the reasons are to 1) ensure that the couple has time to spend getting to know one another; 2) the incoming royal can get acclimated to "life behind the gilded cage" via intensive training to adapt to their personal and professional role; or as I firmly believe was the case of Prince Rainier and Princess Grace, to quickly produce a legitimate heir to the throne.

I am not happy with this timeframe of waiting one year-which I think is quite long as I have read War and Peace and it is exactly the time frame Countess Natasha Rostova waits for Andrei Bolkonsky because his dad has inhibitions about rushing into marraige. That year is critical.
