Stag? I'm unsure what is meant by that term.

How is Prince Harry's walk with the veterans related to stag?

I love the hybrid roses that are a mix of colors: the white with red-tipped petals, or the yellow with red spots, or white with pink streaks.
I think they would be gorgeous (nothing lovelier than roses, imo) and rather unique.

There's a rose called Fire & Ice that looks incredible!

I was about to say fire and ice before I got to the bottom of your post. I usually am not a rose person, I am a cheap person to buy flowers for as I love tulips or daisies second, but fire and ice are so beautiful. I recieved a bouquet when I was in the hospital a few years ago. They would look stunning.

Stag = young buck = young, single men. Meaning the stag/bachelor party. And I assume that the reason she thinks they're related is because by the time Harry returns from the North Pole, it will be too close to the wedding for a stag party to be held, with just three open weekends.

Stag is another term for bachelor party. Stag/stagette. They are traditionally closer to the wedding, but if one is busy, may be sooner. Of course Prince William is a busy man. Harry is his best man, and it is traditional for best man to throw the stag party, so it would be kind of hard if he was in Norway.

Kate is having her stagette. Pippa is throwing it. Turns out all the bars she booked, to throw the media off the track, none were it. Kate has decided to have a Dirty Dancing night at her family home. Movie and girl time. 10 girls including Holly Branson and Olivia Hunt were invited. I guess after all the criticism she got in earlier years for bars, she decided to be more low key on the lead up to her wedding.

I wonder if Diana had one. She was meant to be living with the queen mother to protect her virtue and innocence, before the wedding. She was actually at BP, but it would ruin the virginal image, a wild party.

That's why I'm confused. Is Harry to be at the stag party or is he going to be at the North Pole?

If he isn't going to be at the stag party, it isn't really a stag party in my view.

Thank you dazzling I never knew 29th April was St Catherine's day, how wonderful

Stag is staged this week-end for sure.

How can you be "sure"? There is still a month and 3 days until the wedding.

How is it not a stag party if Harry is not there? Yes traditionally the best man would be there, but the only requirement of a stag party is the groom to be there.

And what don't you get? Harry is going to Norway on Monday. The stag party is this weekend. This weekend falls before Monday. Hence having the party this weekend, before he leaves.

thank you melissaadrian. I thought my post was clear but it's evident it was not. In fact Harry is away for ten days and be back in england the 7th or 8th of April. So if we assume the stag party is held on a week-end there is left the one on 09-10 April, 16-17 April and 23-24 April. I supposed it's too late and very near from the wedding itself. So I believe the reports who suggest it's today.
Lumutqueen : why be so nasty in your answers to me? I make predictions as you seem to do it and you are often wrong in your beliefs. The stad party the week or two weeks before the wedding seems irrational and risky if it ever came to happen something untoward. Nobody takes the risk of a stag party so close to the ceremony.

It seems people ate getting cranky with each other and criticizing which is off putting and off topic.
Back to the
Flowers: what about some firey lilies or white lilies and colored leaves? I wonder if a bride has ever carried, say, bird of paradise? Also it might be really neat to include native flowers from the Commonwealths far flung lands. And ist the daffodil the Welsh flower? They might be included as well...?

If we can stick to the wedding suggestions and musings for William and Catherine and leave the personal personalities out of the thread, it will be a great treat for everyone.

By the by, not that it really matters, but the women's/Bride's version of a stag party is known as the hen party. ;)

Also, as rossop7 posted on another thread ;), Royal Photographer Mark Stewart, reported on his twitter that :

"Savannah Phillips , the Queen's only great grandchild, had her 1st public outing today at Little Gatcombe Horse Trials. She was with mum Autumn, Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence . No sign of dad Peter Phillips."
Twitter

So since there was no sign of Peter, the stag party must be really happening this weekend

Oh dear
Funny i still wear mine widdowed
To honour my late wife.
And it helps to keep them away.
I simplt say im married sorry.

Tomb of the unknown.
Another interesting fact.
Thank you!

Besides I think you can rule out 23-24th, not only way too close to the wedding but Easter weekend seems an odd time for a stag party. The family is quite religious. I may be wrong but they usually attend Easter services and do a walk about don't they?

And if Harry is not getting back until April 8, it would put having it on the 9th-10th kind of risky. There may be some delay for him returning from Norway in time. And while he doesn't have to be there, I am certain William wouldn't want to have it without him.So that really leaves this weekend or 16-17 which puts them pretty close to the wedding. A lot of common brides and grooms have it that close, but they don't have such a calendar as royals do.

I tend to believe, especially since reports are saying Kate is having hers this weekend as well, it is likely true.

Maybe a few decades ago, but modern women call it a stagette or bachelorette party.

That might be the case, but based on the English media reports that I have read for previous English weddings....the women's party is referred to as a Hen party.

But let's agree that different countries and different generations have different terms.

I've personally never heard it called a stagette party, I know Americans tend to call it a bachelorette party but again I've never known that to be used in the UK. Then again many people who know me say I'm prematurely old beyond my years so maybe I'm just completely outdated!

My SIL is having a Hen weekend. No thought of calling it anything else.

That would be really modern and such a beautiful reflection of their future as the King and Queen of not only GB but the the commonwealth realms. I have a feeling we will see roses, lillies and such like all other British royal brides, but one can hope. Here are the national floral emblems of the commonwealth realms

Even if they didn't want to go too exotic, picking flowers from among the symbols of the UK, would be colorful and different as well.

I just hope if they go for the traditional, we see something like fire and ice roses, or colored lilies, something to stand out.

While we're speculating about various aspects of the wedding, here's one....what will PoW and DoE be wearing? I'm assuming it'd be military uniforms, but which service? ;) I'm guessing DoE will be wearing his usual Royal Navy uniform, but I'm wondering whether PoW, instead of the usual Royal Navy, might wear his RAF uniform to support his son? That is assuming Prince William would be wearing his RAF uniform--I can't see him wearing anything else without hurting his colleagues' feelings/morale.

Just some more stuff to keep us busy for the next month. ;)

Seeing POW in his RAF uniform to support his son would be a wonderful gesture.

good point, and also let's try to focus on the wedding itself and not other discussions :flowers:

I have always assumed PoW would wear his Royal Navy uniform, probably because I've seen his and Diana's wedding videos so many times I couldn't imagine him wearing anything else. But now that you brought it up, it wold be a nice touch if he wears the RAF one (even if deep deep inside I find the latter one more dapper)

Oh it would be a marvellous idea to have some flowers from the Commonwealth or even using flowers from the countries that make up the UK. Thanks for posting these pictures!

That would be really modern and such a beautiful reflection of their future as the King and Queen of not only GB but the the commonwealth.

They won't be 'King and Queen of the Commonwealth'. The Commonwealth doesn't have a monarch. 16 nations within the Commonwealth had the present Queen as their monarch but the vast majority of the countries of the Commonwealth are republics although a couple have their own monarch e.g. Malaysia.

Currently the monarch is Head of the Commonwealth but that is not a given to continue after the death of the Queen and there have been many reports over the years that they won't choose Charles in that position when the time comes.
