I doubt if that's going to happen and I personally don't think it should. It would be rather strange given that she is William's mother. It's one thing not to let everything be about Diana and quite another to have her ignored.

Wanna bet on that?

As most of us here on TRF acutely remember Diana's life and foibles and accomplishments and the importance she is in William's life, its only natural that she'd be thought of as her son marries. Diana is very much still a big part of William's life... it is reflected in who he is, his mannerisms, his empathy and how he presents himself. Along with that though there is a lot to be said about how much he is like his father, his grandmother and all the people close to him. That's what we need to remember.

I do think however as the world watches William and Catherine marry and gradually make their own mark in the world's view that they will be honored, respected and even loved for exactly who they are... themselves.

I agree it would be odd to totally not talk about Diana. Why the Diana comparisons are sometimes tiresome and unnecessary, not talking about her is ignoring her place in William's life.

For me, I mention the Charles and Diana wedding because that is the first royal wedding I have ever seen on television and so its my first official point of reference. Its not until others who are fans of other royals that you learn, for example, that Alexandra of Kent did Kate before Kate! A Rolls to the church and a ride in a carriage on the way home. Who knew?!

That being said, I am sure as we get closer the Diana comparisons will become more so but I think at the end of the day...it will be about William and Catherine.

Well said Zonk!!

BTW...It's been driving me nuts, but who is the Bride in your avatar. I'm thinking I *should* know, but I can't figure out who it is.

Maybe you alredy know it but I read on a french website that Paris Hilton is doing all that she can to get an invitation to William and Kate's wedding.
She says that she has a lot of admiration for Diana, that's why she absolutely wants to go to the wedding. I personnally think that she wants to show herself, as usual! I can't imagine what she would be wearing if she was invited...
I know this post is not really linked to the wedding itself but this new made me laugh, that's why I wanted to share it with you. :flower:

What intrigues me is where Diana would have sat in the Abbey. As William's mother, I assume that she would have sat near Prince Charles. But where would that put Camilla? Would she sit perhaps near the Princess Royal, the Duke of York, and the Wessexes? Or would she have sat with the Kents and the Gloucesters, given that she has no natural relation to William?

I do agree about a "united front." They even managed to do that on public or semi-public engagments when they were separated and divorced.

Well, they appeared together at William's confirmation. Say what you want about them as individuals they were TOGETHER good parents.

Who knows where she would have sat. We could speculate on that for days.

Paris Hilton has as much chance getting to this wedding as I do. ZERO.

And yes, Wymanda is correct...it is Lady Sarah Armstrong Jones...I tend to favor the lesser known royal ladies of the BRF (not counting the Yorks). I thought Lady Sarah looked fabulous on her wedding day..and my avatars are usually done by Princess Robjin, Iceflower, Her_Majesty, or Lady K...I can't figure out how to do them myself

LovelyKate...I love your avatar. Oh...the great Elizabeth Taylor RIP.

I remember them as well appearing for VJ Day, when they shared a peck on the cheek. There must have been something for VE Day as well, although what I remember most is the Queen Mother, The Queen, and Princess Margaret on the balcony at BP. Charles and Diana were both at the D-Day celebrations, and they together attended something naval. It was a windy day and Diana's skirt kept flying up and she had to hold her hat on.

As I do and Thank God for that!! Knowing Little Miss Look At Me, she'd wear something that would completely overshadow the Bride.

And that's the reason why I should have realized who that was, as Lady Sarah's Wedding Dress is one of my very favourite Royal Wedding Dresses of the last few years. It was one of two tied for my all time favourites w/Crown Princess Mathlide's. That is, until last June and Crown Princess Victoria's made it a three way tie. And yes, Lady Sarah did look stunning on her special day.

I've made them for my LiveJournal account and they aren't that hard to do actually. So long as you've got a good Photo Editing program that is. The software that came w/my first digital camera is what I use and still do today.

Yes indeed. We lost a true Legend today w/her passing.

I would see no reason why Camilla wouldn't still have sat next to Charles - he has two arms - one for the ex-wife and one for the present one.

I tend to agree. If Diana had remarried, I assume her new husband would be relegated to another section though, away from the royals.

from the official royal wedding site
The Royal Wedding

Will Catherine become Princess Catherine?
Technically not - her title after marriage is yet to be announced.

Will Catherine become an HRH?
Yes.

I don't know about that though. If Diana has remarried, her spouse would then be William's stepfather. Its just another one of those hurdles that doesn't have to be jumped as it never happened.

Diana would not be seated with Charles because she was no longer a member of the royal family...she would be seated with the Spencer family, most likely opposite the royal family, and as a result they would be seated close to the alter...

In terms of "family positioning" as it relates to the wedding if she were alive the difficulty in finding a "location" for Diana or Camillia in regards to William's or Charles' vicinity would arise during the family photos after the wedding ceremony

So we've had alot of discussion about the dress and the cars and carriages, what about the venue itself Westminster Abbey? In times gone by a kind of enclosed awning used to be put up outside the the West Door entrance to the Abbey creating a kind of corridor effect. For Andrew and Sarah's wedding, the awning was more open - kind of like the one used for Haakon and Mette-Marit's wedding. I suspect the same thing will be used for William and Kate.
As for the flowers, I keep reflecting on the Scandinavian royal weddings where the floral decorations seemed to be very modern and structural - with plenty of greenary and subdued neutral tones. I'd like it if William and Kate to choose a similar idea - something dramatic in design but traditional in the flowers. I've heard no word about who is doing the flowers and wonder if some will come from Highgrove?!

I have absolutely no clue as to what flowers Kate even prefers. One thing I would bet on though is that it will contain a sprig of myrtle from Queen Victoria's garden. Can't remember where I read it but there will be several bouquets made up for this wedding just in case something should happen.
