This could be something as simple as touching base to make sure things are in order...I wouldn't get excited yet.

Is there any particular reason next time she can't just have the baby at the palace or at her homes? Being serious here. It would majorly cut down the protection and press hoopla and expense and not totally disrupt a whole hospital.

Via @SkyRhiannon, the 4 press officers' phones have been ringing off the hook so they came to Lindo Wing to answer questions. But no news.

sorry but this is utterly silly to me.. as if the things weren't stirred up enough!

I agree, it doesn't seem very effective, and if she is in labour, it would make the press department look stupid.

I don't understand the point. Maybe they have already done everything they need to do to prepare themselves and are taking care of some loose ends or a hospital snafu came up?

Richard Plamer tweeted the press officers had been there before so I guess there is no news this time either

Having the baby at the hospital guarantees that immediate medical attention if something goes wrong wrong with either mum or baby. All the equipment and the specialists are right there.

If the press officers keep get the same questions by different reporters over and over again why not go in person and answer them all at once.

home births

There is no point in flaming me for what I am about to say.
Nothing you can say will change my mind on this issue, just as nothing I can say can change yours.

Really, this is just venting because there have been some of my nieces and family connections that have opted for this, and you know you really cannot say anything incase something does go wrong.

Some of you have been wondering why the duchess does not have birth at home.

Because she is smart. Because she realizes the health and safety of her child come first not her wishes.

Death of mother and child in childbirth or as a result of childbirth is so rare for us that we think it cannot happen to a healthy woman with a healthy pregnancy. WRONG! Emergencies happen in the best of circumstances. If the mother needs emergency aid, you have minutes. If the child should need emergency aid, you have seconds. Not time to summon an ambulance.

I just think it is a terrible risk. Have natural child birth if you must, just do it in a hospital.

Personally, I have never seen anything wrong with all the drugs they care to give you. You know, the baby's young, he'll get over it!

The quote the great Joan Rivers: Wake me when the hairdresser arrives.

I agree about this + the PR thing of going out of the hospital is crazy strong.

Elizabeth had state of the art for 1960. There is much more available today.
And tragedy could still have struck. IIRC, Margaret's children were born in hospital.

I agree. Except the drug part. It's not that the kids get the drugs ingested that makes people not take it. The epidural makes your connection to the lower part of the body not as intuitive as without drugs which can slow down the birthing process which means more time and stress for the baby. (Not saying I'm agfainst drugs, because a stressed mum can be bad for the baby as well. Just explaining a reason for no drugs)

The drug part is a joke (mostly)

I find it offensive that women who make a different birthing choice are apparently stupid selfish and don't care about their babies in your opinion.but the mods will be here in moment anyway I bet so whatever.

Hahahha, thank you for the laugh!!

I've actually not felt the hype before but this morning it crept up on me and during the day it has been getting higher and higher, with every little hint. Something is feeling in the air

Nothing, the baby is very comfortable within and doesn't feel like leaving anytime soon.

I doubt that exactly Kate was seen out and about, if that was really her someone probably was near her in case she needs it.
