The Duchess of Cambridge has said her mum has a crush on tennis ace Roger Federer.

Kate made the revelation while speaking of her love of the sport ahead of Wimbledon next week.

The 35-year-old, who became patron of the All England Tennis Club last year, said: “I have watched Wimbledon, that was very much part of my growing up.

“I was really taken by Agassi and Sampras, Ivanisevic and Steffi Graf. Those are my first memories. Roger [Federer] is my mother’s heartthrob. I don’t think she will mind me saying that! I think he probably knows that too.”

Well, who does not have a crush on Roger Federer? Gorgeous, a gentleman, polished, wealthy. I'd be more than glad to sit next to him at dinner. Carole and I have much in common, I guess. Of the two of us, she just might get to do that!
And a wee tad off topic.

You'll spot her in the crowd! Kate looks radiant in a polka dot dress and ditches her nude court shoes for on-trend sandals as she attends Wimbledon for the first time as royal patron

Princess Kate is feeling the love-love!

On Monday, the tennis-loving royal debuted a new shorter hairdo as she sat front and center for the start of Wimbledon — an event she recently called “a quintessential part of English summer.”

The royal mom wore a polka dot Dolce & Gabbana dress as she headed to the iconic sports arena in London before the first match of the day to meet with some of the young people who will help serve the courts as ballboys and girls over the next two weeks.

She also chatted with some of the tournament’s stewards and medical and safety teams before settling into the royal box to watch some of the matches.

Kate recently became the new royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which runs the championships.

What about the ladies final on Saturday? Would be nice to see her there even though she doesn't much like womens tennis, apparently. When she named the players she admired while growing up, she named several men and only one woman, Steffi Graf. (That's understandable since Steffi was the BEST.)

Anyway, looking forward to seeing her and William on Sunday.

I doubt that she dislikes women's tennis- I think it's more likely that the players she remembers most are also the most famous and best promoted which have historically been men.

She's Patron, not President.

Including Sunday, as Patron she will have attended twice - that's 66% of the entire attendance of HMQ over her entire time as Patron (2 vs 3)

The best information I've seen suggests that the Cambridges will be in Gloucestershire tomorrow.

It's being reported that William and Harry are playing polo for charity at Cirencester Park Polo Club, and that Camilla's private 70th birthday party is tomorrow night at Highgrove. I think it's understandable that attending Camilla's party would trump Wimbledon.

As a Royal Patron it would have been nice if Kate took a few hours off ( what???) to attend and present the Ladies throphy.

She's no Duchess of Kent and that's for sure.

I think its poor form that Kate only ever seems to attend the mens final. I get why she may not be able to attend the womens final this year. Its also worth noting there is a doubles final, mixed doubles final and wheelchair final which she could attend at Patron. All the talk at the moment is about equality in the sport so maybe Kate could send a clear message it isn't just about the men's final...

When comparing Kate and the Queen's attendance its important IMO to remember the Queen is patron of 600+ organisations, Kate has barely double figures. The Queen as sovereign has a number of patronages she is automatically expected to take on, if she attended all of the events for these she wouldn't have time to do anything else let alone be Head of State (imagine if she attended every performance from the groups she is patron of) instead other members of the RF take on the charity as well being able to give it more time.

This will be Catherine's first final as Patron and in total has already attended The Wimbledon final more times than it's previous Patron, HM The Queen.

No one seemed to have an issue with the Kents looking after the shop back them. There is a reason Wimbledon has both a president and a royal Patron.

@tommy100 - If Wimbledon were a horse race The Queen would be there every year. She makes the time to attend the events she likes. She obviously doesn't like tennis as she's been to Wimbledon 2 or 3 times in almost 40 years as it's Patron
