Its really amazing the fan base Kate has on social media. Everything she does gets retweeted and shared thousands of times.

Its no wonder her charities love her so much

Although a large percentage of her fan base comes mostly from interest in fashion and what she wears, it still serves as a springboard to getting her message out to the general population the more serious aspects that Kate is trying to call attention to. Its a win win situation in my book.

Yes! Just goes to show how much influence she has. People listen to what she says, and that's what counts. She can open doors to so many causes...

Here's our feature on The Duchess of Cambridge's work on child mental health #ChildrensMHW

Child Mental Health
Quote:
The Duchess of Cambridge is a committed champion of issues related to children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Her Royal Highness has worked to bring wider public attention to the fact that issues facing children today such as addiction, poverty, abuse, neglect, loss and illness of family members, can have a long-lasting and traumatic impact if left unsupported.

In particular Her Royal Highness has highlighted the need for early intervention mental health support for young people, to tackle these issues at the earliest possible stage, so that children have the brightest possible futures, as they deserve.

The Duchess has been publicly involved in this area since she became Royal Patron of Place2Be in 2013, an organisation which works within schools to provide early support.

Benita Refson OBE, President and Founding Trustee, said of the patronage: "By helping to raise awareness of Place2Be's early intervention work in schools, The Duchess will also help the charity to reach even more of the UK's most vulnerable children and their families who so desperately need support."

The Duchess of Cambridge is urging parents, teachers and health professionals to give child mental health the attention and focus it deserves.

Great strides have been made in tackling the stigma around adult mental health, she said, and she hoped that the same would now happen with children’s psychological illnesses.

“I have been heartened to see that so much progress has been made in ending the taboo of adults openly treating mental well-being as the health issue it is,” she said in a message to The Times. “I believe that our generation of parents, carers, teachers, and health workers now have the chance to give the mental health of our children the focus it requires.”

From what I've seen over the past couple of years, Kate seems to getting her foot in the door with areas that not only focus on certain aspects of children and families but also integrating how they can work together side by side to provide more education, assistance and support. Sometimes problems are something that have multiple consequences.

Princess Kate Praised for Doing One of the 'Most Important' Jobs –
Quote:
Mental health is 23 percent of the health burden for the U.K. – the greatest single factor, above cancer at 19 percent.

"Most of it starts in childhood. If she is going to lead the way, particularly in an area that is stigmatized, she couldn’t do better than bring attention to the needs of children and young people with mental health problems," Fonagy adds.

Anna Freud Centre is "delighted" to be hosting her, but Fonagy also hopes to learn from Kate, who has been taking a more hands-on role through her important PSA) and various school visits.

"She sees things in that job, that role that probably I will not see and draws my attention to things I would not normally think about. So I look forward to earing from her," Fonagy adds. "We have a common language."

Princess Kate's commitment to children's mental health goes far beyond a photo-op, and those who met her during her visit to a kids' mental health charity last week say it's clear how much she cares about the cause.

"She's in this for the long haul," Peter Fonagy, CEO of the Anna Freud Centre in London, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue.

"She is interested in mental health for real – that is to say that her interest is deep and genuine."

The Duchess of Cambridge has called for more to be done to tackle mental health issues in children which could follow them into later life.

In a speech, Kate told a headteacher's conference in London she knew that she was "lucky" to have had a "wonderful and secure childhood".

"I always knew I was loved, valued and listened to. But, of course, many children aren't so lucky," she said.

"Since beginning my work in areas like addiction, I have seen time and time again that the roots of poor mental health in adulthood are almost always present in unresolved childhood challenges."

The Duchess of Cambridge told of her "wonderful and secure childhood" as she spoke to headteachers about children's mental health.

Kate said it was the "duty" of parents and teachers to provide young people with safe and happy homes because not all children are as fortunate as her in their early lives.

Speaking at the Place2Be charity's conference for headteachers, she said: "I know that I was lucky. My parents and teachers provided me with a wonderful and secure childhood.

"But not all children are so lucky. Many children, even from stable and happy homes, are finding that their heads are too full."

I like how the young lady in the receiving line at (00:37) gave Catherine a slight curtsy as the Duchess passed by. It's pretty much an old school move these days.
