My best guess is that at some point he will probably be announced as Prince George, Viscount Strathearn - probably when he has his first official visit to Scotland.
Or maybe not because Princes William and Harry have no Rothesay titles.

Re: the post you quoted

The Viscount title is a separate courtesy title and is never the same. Charles Spencer was "Viscount Althorp" before he was Earl Spencer, the Duke of Northumberland's son is Earl Percy, the Earl of Snowdon's son is Viscount Linley- the heir uses the courtesy title attached to the title he will inherit one day.

And no, the baby will not be "Viscount Strathearn" in Scotland- that title does not exist. He will use his style everywhere- HRH Prince George of Cambridge.

There are lots of interesting threads devoted to title minutiae :)

I'm guessing it will be mostly Kate if she is breast feeding I'm sure William get up too. There is no word on nannies etc so it is going to be a very normal new parent new baby thing. Probably not a lot of sleep for either. At least with her mum there she can probably sleep during the day. My sister always came home when she gave birth and that is how we would do it. I think William will be pretty hands on as a dad.

I'm trusting completely in the view of HRHHermione (and LumutQueen and Warren and the other experts). He is not going to be an earl of anything, he will be HRH Prince George of Cambridge as his title.

Of course, his mom or dad can call him "Earl" if s/he wants and we'll be none the wiser - but that wouldn't be an official title.

We don't really know if Kate is breast feeding, bottle feeding or what as that information is really not something that should be made public. I would like to imagine that she is especially during the early months of the wee one's life. Not only is it a tremendously wonderful feeling of bonding with your child, but it also benefits the child's health and the mother's physical well being. I've heard all too often how amazingly precious this is to new daddies too and how tangible the feeling of family bonding is during these times.

During paternity leave, involved Dads (I think we can include William in this bunch) usually get burping and getting the Mum whatever she needs duties while she BFs. After settling the baby back to sleep, the parents go back to bed too.

And definitely diaper duty. New parents quickly learn that there are times you just sense while changing the child to turn and aim to the side with a newborn male. Sometimes someone is standing right there too and its called a "gotcha!"

I was surprised at the name George, but it is obviously an honor to the Queen, and shows how truly traditional K & W are.
They did such a wonderful job with the public and press just one day after the birth. I am so proud of Kate especially.
I am also surprised they didn't spend one week or two at KP just the 3 of them. but it is the first grandchild.

On the other subject, thank you for posting the facts on lives saved from car seats and helmets. The posters that nostalgically write about the days long gone when they managed to survive is so unpleasant when I remember those who didn't.

I think one of the reasons they didn't stay at KP is because their apartment there is still under construction, and their temporary cottage there was quite small and, I think, unairconditioned. It's also in central London, of course. So being in Bucklebury gives them space, privacy, and comfort. And Kate's family, too, of course - all of that will probably help to ease the transition once William goes back to work.

It was announced that after the birth of the baby, William and Kate would be spending time with Kate's parents. I really think that the overnight stay at KP after leaving the hospital was because of plans for the Queen to visit her new great grandchild there. William and Kate left for Bucklebury not long after the Queen departed.

This is a couple that is very conscientious of the world and the people around them, have a good staff of people that know this when arranging schedules and such and have a deep rooted feeling of family. As much as they value their privacy, they also took the public into consideration and released the name and an upcoming photo-op within the next 2 weeks quickly.

Since William never assumed any of his father's subsidiary titles, I gather that would be the same case with infant George.

George's title won't be changing until his grandfather comes to the throne and William & Catherine's titles change.

Just to chime in on the titles debate: it is rare for people who have titles to use the titles of a parent by courtesy.

George has a title - he is HRH Prince George of Cambridge. He has no need to use any of William's subsidiary titles (which, if he did, it would most likely be Earl of Strathearn, although it could be Baron Carrickfergus as William goes by Earl of Strathearn in Scotland).

If Harry marries and has children while the Queen is still alive his eldest son will use whatever subsidiary title he has, and the other children will be styled as (most likely) the children of a Duke.

He's this is the most important things to talk about. His hair looks brown or dark blonde. He also seems to have Kate's nose, but most babies have the same button nose; nobody looked at baby William and expected that honker he has now.

not true! Many babies have very large noses. Anyway, it is hard to tell anything until things have settled down after a natural birth. Plus dark baby hair often falls out and reveals the true hair.

GGGrrrrrr. It's so BORING!
They will all pale in comparison to the breast-feeding police should someone spy a bottle within 100 feet of dear Georgie.

It is funny how we all interpret and see things different. The first thing I thought when seeing his face was that he had Williams nose, and actually thought he looked a lot like Prince Charles as a newborn baby. But it is very true, most very newly born baby's don't even look the same after a few weeks. Very much looking forward to the photo shoot pics soon :)

Newborn babies change so much the first year. My niece was born with a mop of black hair we were all thrilled then she lost it and it came back blonde. So we won't really know his hair colour for awhile. Bonding is important and I'm sure Kate and William know that and she will probably try to breast feed. It is a wonderful time for a new family and chances are each one will be "christened" with some pee at some stage. LOL I think just about every one of my nephews and nieces has either peed on me or thrown up on me. It's just part of being around babies.
