:previous: Ah yes one's first noticeable earthquake will live on in most people's minds for the rest of their lives. I've had to deliver safety instructions and comfort more than one terrified person during my lifetime in California.

me too! :flowers:

I think this is exceedingly important and it's especially nice to hear that William was the one who requested the meeting to show men that women's rights are not only a "Women's issue".

Exactly so, HistoryGirl! It's an important issue for both sexes and the more men who become supportive of their womenfolk all over the world the better!

I agree. It's not their fault and they can't do anything about it!

Of course it´s not their fault. But I guess critics want some sort of excuse, may be included in one of the Dukes speeches, a laying of a wreath for indian victims killed during massacres under british command or somethin´ like that.
This sort of claim has already been raised back in 1997 when The Queen last visited India.

When it comes to the media: I wonder if they´ll still stubbornly call Catherine "Kate Middleton" even when she is Queen...?
I cannot recall any of the other princesses, not Mette-Marit, nor Letizia, Mathilde, Máxima, Marie of Denmark etc. etc. to have been named by their maiden names after their weddings (and for such a long time after it)....!

Yes and don't forget that his brother mentioned the same during his trip to Nepal.

I have to say that I'm pleased to see both brothers supporting this cause on their respective tours.

:flowers: Exactly. As long as its only women its 'feminism' which seems a swear word in some places. Like feminists are men hating monsters. Its one of the things I love about our new Prime Minister. He has publically called himself a feminist and not been afraid in national interviews to say he stands for everything that truly means.

Yes they are, lots of Spanish articles on Letizia Ortiz even these days or Daniel Westling.

I guess the media have their fun, soon they will go into overdrive at the Maj Mahal, but I dont think that this trip will change the opinion of the ordinary folk on the Cambridges. Most pictures look like straight out of a holiday or doing sporty things, the rest focused on whatkatewore. yes, she misses her children and refused to eat in public. Wills has never seen a bollywood movie, I dont see any enthusiasm especially from him during this trip, and I start to understand why.

Videos:
William and Kate take jeep safari through the park, they meet rangers and learn about conservation challenges. The young Royals saw a rhino and spoke with park rangers about their resources.

The Duke and Duchess of Camrbridge attended a safari park in India today where the Royal couple fed baby rhino's amongst other animals. Prince William has long been an advocate for the conservation of the Rhinoceros, a species which will may well be extinct in a decade unless further steps are taken to prevent poaching.

I don't know how anyone can look at these pictures/videos and not feel amazed on how beautiful this tour have been so far. William and Catherine appear having the time of their lives with the people of India. The people have embraced the royal couple too.

Don't know how anyone could think of this trip as a holiday. Holidays are when you relax and just enjoy the sun. William and Catherine are working; making speeches, attending meetings, talking to endless people. Not ideal for a vacation.

parts of british media are not happy with the sugary coverage while brushing the brutal colonial history between the two countries under the carpet
Prince William and Kate Middleton's India trip: No amount of fawning media coverage can cover up these sordid facts | Voices | The Independent

With a very crowded itinerary for this tour of India, it is next to impossible to extensively focus on one individual part of India's rich history and culture. I did some checking back as I believe that one of the first things W&K did when they began the tour is to remember and pay their respects to the memory of Ghandi who was so very instrumental in winning India's freedom through non-violence.

This was listed as part of their itinerary thanks to post #126 from Rudolph.

Visit Ghandi Smriti (Ghanidi Memory), a museum for Mahatma Ghandi

'Ordinary folk'? I assume you mean in the UK? William brought the issue of the problems with the steel industry in Wales/UK straight to the PM of India. If he does literally nothing else during this trip, that will have been greatly appreciated by 'ordinary folk' here. Particularly in Wales.

This got significant coverage in the UK papers, but then all the non-UK based experts here who so love to tell us what people in the UK think, probably won't have known that.

Well you don't need an expert to tell you that much...it's pretty evident.

Waiting for the media to blame it on William and Kate.

Too true. It's obvious to anyone who cares enough to pay attention.

Oh my I'm crying so much! So heartbreaking, I hate what they did to the poor rhinos, killing just for the horns. Horrible people!

United for Wildlife needs to start running some Viagra ads in China and Vietnam- it actually works and cost less than rhino horn.

in which hotels did william and kate stay in New Delhi (11/12th April) and Kaziranga (12/13th April)?

i assume that when they visited Kaziranga they probably stayed at a hotel near the city of guwahati which is the airport they used to get them to bhutan, but maybe they opted for a more isolated stay in the national park?

New Dehli - probably stayed at the British High Commisioner's residence . That's where the garden party was.

They flew in to the bigger airport to get the Drak air charter on a smaller Indian govt plane.

:previous: I think so. Makes sense for them to and it is the only location I have found no mention of a hotel.
