Aides say the Duchess's labour is progressing normally but will not say whether she has been induced.

I hope and pray Catherine safely deliver the baby. Good luck to Their Royal Highnesses.

Fingers crossed for a very Happy Birth Day to Wills and Kate....and also for my self-centred wish for it to be born on the 22nd.

Who is watching the live feed news cameras outside the Lindo Wing? Am I the only one cracking up about the millions of people that "need" to walk by there right now? And the street cleaner too? REALLY? Hahahaha!

There have been lots of tweets that say it's been reported as 'a natural birth' - was that ever in question? Sometimes the media are so silly.

Good luck to them both,a safe and speedy delivery, then, perhaps, a lot less press intrusion. :-)

My gynaecologist told me that there is no such thing as a "natural"birth in the western world !!:-)

What's silly about it? A natural birth means painkillers like an epidural are not used. We don't know if it's a natural birth or not.

The 22nd is my name day and my boyfriend's birthday!

Apparently Kate arrived at the hospital at 5:45am and entered via the Cambridge entrance.

We people watching the webcam will be very disappointed.

I hear the sound of portable barriers, so that may not be an option for long...

@RoyalReporter: I think it's been assumed that because Kate was in labour when she arrived, it must be a natural birth. Palace insists it's not getting that

I bet she's hoping it doesn't go on for three days though.
I am by no means an expert on astrology but one thing I do know is that people that are born during the cusp period between two zodiac signs tend to have positive and negative attributes from both signs. In Baby C's case it would be Cancer and Leo.

I would imagine that Kate stayed home with William as long as possible before heading to the hospital... making sure the contractions were 5 minutes apart or whatever her doctor advised her. I wonder if Kate will have any amusing stories to tell? Like the husband that drives off without the mother or in my case, the man that paraded through the hospital alone carrying my purse as he had to go down to admitting for me.

Luckily once I did go in the hospital, I mostly sat in the father's waiting room (where smoking was allowed at the time) and watched TV. Once the really hard labor began, it took about 1 1/2 hours to deliver.

#Duchess of Cambridge arrived at hospital at 5.45am. Believed to have used Cambridge wing entrance used by Princess Diana. #Royalbaby

Well, we'll be hearing those gun salutes soon after HRH gives birth.

Richard Palmer ‏@RoyalReporter 1m
Not that it really matters but it's possible for a midwife or doctor to kickstart the process at home or in a clinic. Diana was induced.

So if painkillers and an epidural are used it's an unnatural birth? That's my point, semantics really.

Is the Queen now already on Holidays? Or is the Royal Baby arriving in time BEFORE the Queen is leaving?

Palace says it's not getting into that, I meant to say, re induction.

I think The Queen starts her holiday on Friday.

It's not called an unnatural birth. That is just not a term that is used.

The term natural childbirth is more than semantics. There is nothing wrong with having a term that means a vaginal birth without the use of medication to induce, relieve pain, etc. Some women take great care in writing out birth plans to be followed when they are in labor and these distinctions can be very important to them.
