Just checking is this morning.

Has Kate had the baby yet?

@SkyNewsRoyal: #royal #Kate #Breaking The Duchess of Cambridge will give birth to her baby in the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington in July.

@SkyNewsRoyal: #royal #breaking: #William will be by #Kate's side during labour, despite being on duty in Anglesey in run up to Duchess' due date.

@RoyalReporter: The Duchess of Cambridge has opted for a natural birth at the Lindo Wing, St Mary's Paddington. She and William don't know the baby's sex.

@SkyNewsRoyal: #royal Birth notice only transferred from hospital to Buck Pal once Royal family, incl the Queen, and Middleton family notified

@SkyNewsRoyal: #royal #kate The Queen's former gynaecologist Marcus Setchell, will deliver #William and #Kate's baby, assisted by Alan Farthing

Goodness me with this news it feels very real now. :king:

I have to agree, Everyday it feels more real! Everytime I see a new post on this thread the last couple days I get kind of exited and have fingers crossed. A Royal Birth and a Heir is Near. .. The countdown has began.

Having been proven wrong on all their exclusives so far - the DM is saying that Pippa and Carole will be at the hospital for the birth. No one else has mentioned this at all - do we think it's an exclusive??

Is any if William family going to be at the hospital? I take a lot of what DM says with a grain of salt especially after some of it false stories/unreliable sources last year (not about the royals by about a totally different thing)

Well, nowadays it's all the rage to have entire families in the birthing suite, watching every push and mopping brows and shouting push along with the doctor, older siblings with their big brother/big sister t-shirts (that will be next time, mark my words). Gone are the days when a confinement was just what it meant.. a confinement. When I was born it was just the mother, and even she was half knocked out. When my kids were born it was just the husband. But now those spiffy waiting rooms on the L&D floors are sadly empty.

So I tend to believe like most couples these days, Will and Kate will cram as many relatives as they can in, Carole and Pippa being the most logical choices.

Perhaps Beatrice and Eugenie will attend with some questionable new frocks. Harry along with Cressie? Chelsy? A mystery date? Uncle Charlie Spencer with little namesake Charlotte Diana? The Queen with her ever present black handbag and sensible shoes? Anne and Zara in riding outfits?

UI like that Buckingham Palace is sticking with Tradition by putting the announcement of the birth on the Gate.of the palace,

I do too. But I'm also glad they are going to announce it on Twitter. When Kate goes into the hospital I'm going to keep my phone constantly on me so that I can be updated when the baby is born.

They're not going to announce the birth on twitter, that's exactly what they've said they won't do. The Robert Johnson comment is wrong, it will be announced the old fashioned way via the A4 piece of paper outside BP and then it will hit twitter, facebook etc.

Although both Buckingham Palace and Clarence House have their own Twitter accounts on which details of royal events are frequently now broken, it will most definitely not be the preferred medium to announce the new royal baby.
Instead a formal notice on a piece of creamy A4 size Buckingham Palace-headed paper, signed by the medical staff who have assisted the Duchess, will be brought out of the Lindo’s front entrance by a press officer.
It will then be handed to a waiting driver and driven through the streets of London – escorted by police outriders - to the Privy Purse Door at the front of Buckingham Palace.

Royal birth announcement will be taken by police escort to Buckingham Palace and displayed on an easel... the same way news of William's arrival was released | Mail Online

Royal baby: Inside the £10k hospital suite where Kate Middleton will give birth | Mail Online

Who will be at the Duchess' bedside for the birth? William could be forced to take helicopter from Wales while mother Carole and sister Pippa will also head for the hospital | Mail Online

Royal baby gender: Kate Middleton and Prince William DON'T know the sex of their child | Mail Online

I understand that it will be announced on the easel first. However, Clarence House has an account on twitter and I assume they will put it there after announcing it the old fashioned way.

They say here, "‘It is very important [to us] that it will not be announced first on Twitter, although it will be announced on Twitter in due course.’

Interesting articles.

I was wondering since A lot of Royal births for a long time had been at home (Buckingham palace, white lodge, etc) Who was the first Royal Baby to be born in a Hospital?

Peter Philips. :flowers:

Nine have been born in the Lindo Wing - Peter, Zara, William,Harry, Freddie, Gabriella, Earl of Ulster, Davina, Rose, so I think its Peter.

I was going for immediate family, yes Nicholas was born in 1970 at University College Hospital whereas Peter was born at St Mary's in 1977.

I was going twhile William and Kate did not find out the baby of the Gender wouldn't they be able to tell from the Ultrasound? Still? Wasn't that why Diana knew Harry was a Boty?

they have chosen not to know - it is their choice after all.

I understand that completely, It is their choice after all. I don't think I would find out either especially if it was my first. But I an asking wouldn't they still be able to tell in the later part of pregnancy if it a boy or girl?

Not necessarily, all depends on the angle of the baby and if they looked at the monitor. You don't have to get pictures and the midwife can tell you the baby is healthy and okay.

I am glad they don't know the sex of the baby, as it is an exciting time in any couple's life and the fact of now knowing the gender is wonderful. There's nothing more exciting than when a baby is a born and asking the parents, "what have you got?" and showing them. It's lovely and I feel priviledged that I am able to be the first person to share that with people.

Quite a lot of Royals were born at St Mary's, though Sarah chose to birth at The Portland. Does anyone know why? I think Sophie was due to give birth at St Mary's as well.

I agree about the DM - but I really do expect that several Middletons will be present - as that has become more normal over the years, as long as there is no medical reason to not do so. Plus I am sure that family will want to assure themselves that the baby is indeed a Middleton and does not get switched at birth, just as happened in history. We are talking about the heir to Party Pieces, here! (and yes, folks - that is a joke, however lame).

It is a good question about a proxy for William. I wonder how the Lamaze classes have been going?

I think having an entire family present is more of an american thing - and certainly not royal. However, I would expect her mum to go with her if she does into labour while in Berkshire.

I think William and Catherine want the baby's gender to be a surprise for them. I think also it is a good way to not unintentionally slip up with the public. If they themselves don't know, they can't give the secret away!

I just hope their privacy will be respected once they're at the hospital. I hope everyone will act like they have some sense and not make any calls to the hospital. I felt bad for the royal couple when their joyous pregnancy news was followed by those horrible and senseless events last year.

I'm sure now that the media knows where the baby will be born, I think the worlds media is gearing up to surround the hospital and Buckingham Palace.

Me too and I hope their privacy is respected. I think people's have learned from the Unfortunate incident that took place last year, I am sure The Media is gearing up for the Birth! Some are probably preparing to Send correspondents/reporters to London from all over the world to camp outside the hospital and Buckingham Palace everyday starting next week until a week after the baby is born whether it the last week of June or the middle of July. It is going to be crazy!

I know, I feel sorry for them. The public is excited (I know I sure am) but they have a right to some privacy. I was remarking to my mom today that the only thing they haven't done is put up a marestare cam!!
