Yup. Tom and William Lowther-Pinkerton were pages. Louise, Margarita Armstrong-Jones, Grace van Cutsem, and Eliza Lopes.

Looking at their bridal party, there's 5 categories of people represented (and honoured), and I wouldn't be surprised if they went along the same lines for the godparents.

Louise represents the Mountbatten-Windsors, Margarita and Eliza represent the extended family, Grace represents their friends, William Lowthar-Pinkerton and Tom represent non-family individuals who have had an important impact on William's life, and Pippa and Harry represent the couple's siblings.

I think we're going to get one godparent from each of these categories - although they might combine the Mountbatten-Windsor/extended family part, or the friends/other important people part, and they might expand the sibling representation. I also kind of think we can expect to see different people from the bridal party - i.e. Edward and Sophie's daughter represented the Mountbatten-Windsors at the wedding so someone else (Anne, one of the Phillips, or a York) will have the honour with Baby C.

I dont think Anne/Andrew/Edward/Sophie will be any of the godparents..They are well past that age..Or can they still be? My best bet (if they take anyone else from RF in addition to Harry) is Peter/Zara or maybe Beatrice..

Since when was there an age limit to being a godparent?

There isn't. My Godmother was one of my great-aunts.

Exactly. That's why I think Sophie is a good suggestion.

I think Sophie is a definite choice, and I would be a wee bit shocked/disappointed if she was not chosen to be honest. Catherine and Sophie appear to get on quite well and it would be a nice thing for Catherine to honour her appreciation of Sophie. I can see Sophie being chosen over Edward.

I think it depends on how many they want to have...they like to break w/ tradition. I think the only two guaranteed ones (Most likely) are harry and pippa. But, I could see Sophie being picked over Eugenie or Beatrice..I don't get the feeling William is terribly close to them.

I hope if it is a girl(born to be Queen) that Princess Anne would be chosen as a godmother. I think the quality of first hand knowledge she would be able to share about her mother being a female queen in a much less liberal time would be invaluable. Also herself, being the last last princess raised inside the buckingham palace. many of Williams god parents were older (Princess Alexandra for one) and I think it would be a nice balance to few who undoubtedly will be W&K's peers. I would also expect one of Diana's sisters; probably Sarah as she seems to have a very close relationship with William.

I think that friends and high status people will be the mix.

Look at William's godparents -

King Constantine of Greece
Princess Alexandra
Duchess of Westminster
Lady Susan Hussey
Lord Romsey
Sir Laurens van der Post.

Looking at that and the fact we are talking about a future monarch - Greek royal; Princess Anne or Prince Edward; Lord Manning (Kate's mentor) or Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton; from van Straubenzee family and/or van Cutzem; Pippa and/or Harry.

I think we can count out a Greek royal, I doubt they're as close as they used to be. Look who went to the recent Greek wedding for instance.

Then it will be another royal family, so maybe Norway; maybe Haakon I think HMQ has influence with this.

How many times have they even met foreign royals? I don't think there has to be a foreign royal included in the line up, gone are the days when it was 'keeping it in the family' so to speak. European royals are godparents to each others children because they see each other more than twice a year?

This again raise the question of does it matter who the godparents are? Do you want someone who's actually going to see your child grow up and be there for it? Or someone who lives a plane flight away and you barely know?

It's not what I think that matters. I have looked back and having a foreign royal is traditional. I haven't chosen Haako. At random, I've read comments on this thread and seen pix which shows that there is a warm relationship between Haakon and PoW.

I absolutely see the logic of what you are saying, but on personal experience and definitely looking at royal experience, a friend of the older generations are included, ie Lady Susan Hussey for William (queens friend and lady in waiting) and Bryan Organ, portrait painter for Harry.

It also gives William an intro to other royals and I think that would be no bad thing.

I think if there is going to be a foreign royal it'll be a Greek - William's first godson was a Greek royal, and one of his godparents is Constantine II. To me, the "extended family" godparent might be a Greek royal (instead of a Windsor or a Spencer).

They don't have to have a European royal godparent, and if you look at who was involved in the wedding they seem to really balance the friends of the couple/individuals who are important to the couple with the people who are of more significance on a grander family-relationship. They had their friends represented, but they also had their (or William's) family connections represented too. The godparents will likely be something similar.

I can't imagine that they haven't met many of the foreign Royals a few times, even if they don't hang out with them. Didn't they do something with the Danish Crown Prince and Princess, something to do with the UNICEF?

They met the royals who were at their wedding, at the jubilee lunch at Windsor and some at the Olympics. W&K did went to UNICEF with Fred and Mary in Copenhagen. I don't think they have a close relationship with any of them (except for Constantine ) because there hasn't been years of interaction with them unlike Charles or the Wessexs.

What Greek royal married recently? Of Con's kids, the last one who is wed married almost 3 years ago.

Will is godfather to Pavlos' child. The Brits have always been close to the Greeks, and of course are related. I think if any foreign royals are included, it will be Pavlos or one of his siblings.

Other than their wedding they have only met foreign royals at things like the Olympics and one trip to Denmark. The Wessexes are the only ones who seem to attend weddings and such on the continent. Edward is godfather to Nikolai, but the others don't have any foreign godchildren. And none of them have foreign godparents, except those who are related to them. And because of marrying future Brits the last generations, there are not any closely related foreign royal relatives.

Charles- Prince George of Greece (his granduncle) and the King of Norway (he was married to the queen's Great Aunt, Maude)
Anne- had Prince Philip's mother and sister Marguerita
Andrew- no foreigns
Edward- Louis Prince of Hesse (not family, but brother in law of Prince Philip's sister Cecile, he raised her daughter Joanna after Cecile and her husband died, until Joanna died)And Prince Philip's sister Sophie

this generation:
Will: Constantine (a cousin)
none of the others have a foreign royal, even a related one.

I think we will have a mix of family and friends. I don't rule out an older generation, as it seems common enough.

I see:
Harry
Pippa
Pavlos
Hugh van Cutsem (he and Pavlos as Will is godfather to their kids)
Zara or Peter
and an older family member like Sophie, or even one of Diana's sisters

Anne is CP Haakon's godmother. Both William and Charles are godfather to a Greek kid from Pavlos.

From the BRF, I am thinking Zara and older member such as Sophie, Viscount Linley or Sarah Chatto.

Family friends such as one of van custems, James meade or Tom van Straubeezee

Kate's friends get a slot or two

Mentor pick: somebody like Mario Testino or Jamie Lowter Pinkerton etc

Wildcard- Kate does want to pick one sibling over another so no Pippa and Harry
