The Wedding Guest List
I am surprised that all the major CrownPrince/Crown Princess couples were not invited, especially in light of the inclusion of the good time Charlies from Mustique.
So, we will have Willem-Alexander and Maxima, Felipe and Letizia, Victoria and Daniel, but not Frederik and Mary nor Haakon and Mette-Marit.
These are William and Catherine's generation of royals...
Curious.

On the TV News yesterday evening at 8pm (on the 2nd channel), they spoke of the upcoming wedding and made a report in the old school of Kate when she was 6 years. A music teacher and a choir of thirty pupils, girls and boys aged 6, sang a hymn written specially to celebrate the marriage by a boy aged 9 years old. The kids were adorable, all dressed in dark green and gray, the same outfit, very serious, the choral was perfect. A highly trained choir. The channel will make reports in London until the wedding day. Did someone heard this choral? I would like to hear them again. It's was lovely those kids so young and so serious.

We have to remember too that Uncle Gary is Kate's uncle and in my family, that is considered close family. Not inviting him would be on the same lines as not inviting the Princess Royal or Charles Spencer. It doesn't surprise me that the invitation would be for one couple of a royal family being invited to attend like Sophie and Edward represented the Queen at Victoria's and Daniel's wedding last summer. Even as large as Westminster Abbey is, I'm sure there are a lot of people William and Kate would have loved to have on their guest list but there just simply isn't the room.

Haakon and Mette-Merit are going to be in Ghana at the time of the wedding, and therefore can't be invited. You don't invite someone to your wedding when they're going to be in Africa at the time. Frederik and Mary aren't coming I'm assuming because the twins are too young and Mary is still breastfeeding them, and Frederik must be regent as his parents were invited. The other couples you mentioned had no impediments to being invited, so they were.

Sr. Morphine, since Pr. Joachim occasionally acts as regent when both Margrethe and Frederik are away, perhaps that is not a reason. And breastfeeding and travel can be managed, as I know from personal experience, especially as the babes are no longer newborns. And it's only a hop, skip and a jump by plane from Copenhagen to London.
My 'wonderings' were aroused since Felipe and Letizia were not invited (and had to be invited by P. Charles just last week to rectify the situation), perhaps Haakon and M.M. and Frederik and M. were not invited either...
Who knows..?
In any event, I am sorry we will not see them that day.

I am curious to know your source that Felipe and Letizia were not invited until just last week? And that the Crown Princely couple of Norway and Denmark were not invited at all. I was under the impression that the invites were sent to the reigning monarch who then decided who would attend.

I believe the Kings and Queens were invited and the each family decided who to send to represent them- it's a well known policy that the King of Spain does not attend foreign weddings so maybe the Quern is taking F&L as her escort.....
If CP couples were not expressly invited, they are sent as representative of their sovereign and that seems to me to be equal to being invited, I think it's more protocol then actually a personal snub, no? Sorry if I'm not making sense

Don't know if this is the appropriate place for this but the wedding invitation designer has been revealed!

Per St James Palace- only King and Queen invited....so maybe Felipe and Letizia were invited but seems more like they were drafted as represenatives of the SRF (much like I believe Victoria is representing Sweden, Max and WA the Netherlands, etc...)
Maybe the Queen of England is only invited to the weddings and sends Edward and Sophie on her behalf, so this may just be how it works in Royal Families (a respect/ protocol thing ) - I have no source, I'm guessing
Wasn't it announced or published early on that the BRF was inviting only heads of royal families? And then the families pick the represenatives if heads can not attend -?

That's the way I understood it...that Heads of Royal Families were invited....they were to announced who was to attend. Unless special relationships were in play. I am actually surprised that Sofia is coming but I don't know why..she has always appeared to have a good relationship with Charles (as well as Diana) and I remember that the Wales family did vacation with the SRF once or twice (when William was a child).
