Same here, I didn't like Victoria's dress either. It suited her, agreed, but not suitable for Catherine. Too plain indeed.

Project Runway designers' ideas for the wedding dress. These are more like fantasy dresses than actual contenders because, fair warning, designs include strapless, backless and plunging necklines.

I've been looking back at some earlier wedding dresses and Princess Alexandra, Queen Silvia and Queen Sonja all have very lovely dresses. It was interesting to see these lovely ladies and how they have "matured" over the years. Queen Silvia especially was very lovely.

Me, I'm going for the "diamond-quilted leather corset bodice with heavy brass zipper"! Just the thing, doncha think, for a royal wedding?

Shirin Askari's design is gorgeous. I could see Catherine wearing it.

The same for Ivy Higa's design: http://mylt.ltcdn.com/movies/sites/m...ivy_sketch.jpg

Maybe this is how Kate will get into her wedding dress without a corset......the suspense can't be killing her- but those cigarettes will if this is true.

Designers Invited

Based on the article about the guest list posted in the DM, these names appear to be of designers. Perhaps THE designer is among them.

Daniella Helayel
Katie Readman
Alice Warrender
Victoria Beckham
Philippa Naylor

Weird. Daniella Helayel its not Brittish, which we all know, diminish her chances a LOT.
Victoria Beckham doesn't do wedding dresses. And I don't believe Kate you like to tried in her wedding day.

The other 3 names, I googled it and neither have a official website.
I think those are just guest names.

Sister Morphine's Dress Suggestion

[QUOTE=Sister Morphine;1229361]Shirin Askari's design is gorgeous. I could see Catherine wearing it.

Sister Morphine: Of the hundreds of sketches and ideas I've seen tossed around our forum and other publications, you have hit the jackpot. It is absolutely the loveliest -- and it would be fabulous on Kate!

Who knows what she will wear, but this has a bit of the Pr. Grace elegance and the waist detail to flatter a woman with a tiny waist, as well as a skirt that is original in it's design but has the dimension ideal for a vast space, such as the Abbey. It has tradition and modernity and I also like the blend of fabrics and textures. Thanks for sharing this!

Both of these are along the lines I was thinking...for some reason I see her in something lacy on top.

This! This may be my favorite yet! The skirt has enough detail to make it grand enough for the Abbey. Very princess-like.

Oh wow.. I just absolutely LOVE that dress! I can definitely see Kate in this dress and pulling it off to perfection. Its very much a "princess" dress without being too over the top.

That is gorgeous!

Simple and elegant. I hope the actual dress Catherine wears will be similar to this one.
