She was born as the oldest of seven children of Archduchess Hedwig of Austria (1896-1970; granddaughter of Emperor Franz Josef I and Empress Sissi by their youngest daughter, Valerie) and her husband, Count Bernhard of Stolberg-Stolberg (1881-1952).
Athough she was the oldest one,all her youngest siblings are already dead, except the youngest one, Magdalena (b.1930). She leaves also 15 nieces and 16 nephews with their families. She lost one niece, one nephew and one great-niece.

It appears that there was a mistake about the date of death of Sister Marie-Boniface aka Countess Marie Elisabeth; she didn't die on 29 May - as it was firstly reported - but on 9 June 2012 in Vanves (France).

The death notice of Countess Carolin published by the family on the Lauterbacher Anzeiger doesn't mention her husband. This makes me think that they were no longer married at the time of her death.
