Jean Lombard Bufferes de Rambouteau, Count Lombard de Bufferes died this month.

He was born in 1957 as the first child of Lombard Bufferes de Rambouteau, Count Henri Lombard de Bufferes (1925-1991) & his wife Irmeline, nee de Claret de Fleurieu (b.1935).

Apart from his mother, he is survived by his three brothers: Claude (b.1959, who inherits his title), Philibert (b.1966) & Charles (b.1968), his only sister Marie (b.1958) as well as five nephews and six nieces.

Theodor Kiendl died on 9 January 2012, aged 89.

He was born in 1922, and was married since 1949 to Princess Elisabeth Poniatowski (daughter of Prince Casimir Poniatowski and his wife, née Countess Anne de Caraman-Chimay). He and Elisabeth became parents of four children: Theodore, Gregory, Elisabeth and Paul.
He is survived by his wife, their children and grandchildren.

Great grief has fallen on Count Ruppprecht-Maximilian von und zu Arco-Zinnebrg gennant Bogen (b.1941) & his wife Katharina, nee Countess Henckel von Donnersmarck (b.1943):

Their daughter, Countess Isabella-Gabriela von und zu Arco-Zinnebrg gennant Bogen died in Louvain, in January.

She was born in Munich on 5 December 1973 as the second child; she had older brother Aloys-Maximilian (b.1970). On 12 May 1999 she married in Schloss St. Martin Alexandre Stefanovich (b. in Washington on 17 November 1961).

Apart from her parents, brother and husband, she bereaved three children: Maximilian-Alexandre, Elisabeth-Eliane (twins, b.2001) and Karl-Ferdinand (DOB unknown).

So young a woman....So sad!

Victor-François, 8th Duke of Broglie, passed away on 12 February 2012, aged 62.

He was born at Paris on 25 March 1949, the eldest son of Prince Jean de Broglie and his wife, née Micheline Segard. He succeeded in 1987 as Duke of Broglie to his distant cousin Louis.
He was unmarried and without issue.
He is survived by his two younger brothers, Philippe and Louis, and by a sister in law. His brother Philippe is now the 9th Duke of Broglie.

Robert Carr, Baron Carr of Hadley, died on 17 February 2012, aged 95.

Born in 1916, he has been a member of the House of Commons from 1950 to 1974; he served as Secretary of State for Employment in Edward Heath's government in 1970-1972 and then in 1972-1974 he served as Home Secretary.
He was created a Life peer as Baron Carr of Hadley in 1976.
He is survived by his wife Joan and two daughters.

Baroness Marie-Adelaide von Seebach, nee von Brandis died this year.

She was born in 1914 as the youngest of four children of Baron Eberhard von Brandis (1868-1933) & his wife Jenny, nee Baroness Quadt-Wykradt Huchtenbruck (1874-1958). In 1936 she married Baron Christoph von Seebach (1904-1988) by whom she had four daughters: Elisaberh (b.1938), Marie-Agnes (b.1940), Gabriele (b.1941) and Christine (b.1950).
She is survived by them, her eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. One of her sons-in-law, Count Wilhelm of Stolberg-Wernigerode (husband of Marie-Agnes) predeceased her in 2001.

Apart from her all her three siblings, she survived also three of her nieces and one nephew.

David William Egerton died on 17 January, five days before his 82nd birthday.

He was born in 1930 as a youngest of three sons of Francis Egerton (1896-1935) [himself the son of William Francis Egerton (1868-1949), of the Dukes of Sutherland, and of his wife, Lady Alice Osborne (1869-1951), of the Dukes of Leeds] and of his wife, nee Hon. Doris Meysey-Thompson (died in 1953). On 27 September 1956 he married Patricia Mary Traharne Thomas and is survived by her, their only son Francis David (b.1959) and daughter-in-law, Jess Mary,nee Owen.

Count Jacques d'Oultremont passed away on 22 February 2012, aged 92.

He was born on 18 August 1919, fifth child and third son of Count Edouard d'Oultremont and his wife, née Baroness Georgine Pycke de Peteghem.
He was married since 1946 to Gilberte Lierneux, with whom he had three children (Véronique, Géraldine and Olivier).
He is survived by his wife, their children with their families, his sister Christiane, his sister-in-law Jacqueline (Countess Raoul d'Oultremont), many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Paris on 1 September 1924. He married in Versailles on 5 December 1953, a day before her 20th birthday, Princess Geneviève de Broglie [daughter of Prince Edouard de Broglie (1900-1952) & his wife Alix, nee La Bas de Courmont (1898-1967)]

Doña Ana de Medina y Fernández de Córdoba, Countess of Ofalia and Marchiones of Navahermosa, passed away on 7 March 2012, after a long illness, aged 71.

She was born at Sevilla on 2 May 1940, the eldest child and only daughter of Don Rafael de Medina y Villalonga and his wife Doña Victoria Eugenia Fernandez de Cordoba y Fernandez de Henestrosa, (since 1956) 18th Duchess of Mendinaceli.
She married firstly in 1961 to Prince Max Emanuel zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg, with whom she had three children. They divorced in 1985, and in the same year she married to Don Jaime de Urzaiz y Fernández del Castillo; this second wedding also ended in divorce.
She is survived by her three children Princes Marco, Pablo and Flavia zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg, seven grandchildren, her mother the Duchess of Medinaceli, her brother Ignacio, Duke of Segorbe, her sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces.

Don Edoardo (of the Marquesses) Ferrero de Gubernatis Ventimiglia died after a long illness on 10 March 2012, aged 75.

He was born in 1936, the second son of Don Luca (of the Marquesses) Ferrero de Gubernatis Ventimiglia and his wife, née Donna Clara (of the Barons) Nasi (a granddaughter of the founder of FIAT car manufacturing Giovanni Agnelli).
He married twice: firstly in 1963 to Giovanna Turi and secondly to Elisabeth Brandt; he had two children with each of his wives.
He is survived by his wife Elisabeth, his four children Ilaria, Clemente, Ferrante and Matteo and by five grandchildren.

Ridder Yves de Ghellinck d'Elseghem Vaernewyck died this year.

He was born in 1934 as the youngest of seven children of Countess Gabrielle de Marchant et d'Ansembourg (1887-1979) & her husband Ernest, Burggrave de Ghellinck d'Elseghem Vaernewyck (1880-1940). In 1959 he married Jonkwrouve Marie Pirmez (b.1940), but they later divorced. They had a daughter Cecile (b.1966) and four sons: triplets Jean, Edouard and Michel (b.1967) and Gerard (b.1969).
Apart from his former wife and children, he is survived by his son-in-law, Dirk van Gendt, daughter-in-law Catherine, nee Timmermans (b.1969, wife of Gerard) and two grandsons Maxime and Tibo van Gendt.

[She was born in Florence in 1920, daughter of Don Enrico Alliata dei principi di Villafranca (1879-1946) and of Donna Sonia de Ortuzar y Ovalle de Olivarez of the duches of Ortuzar (1892-1981) and married in 1915 Dr. Giovanni Guaita (b. 1915). She is survived by him, one son and two daughters.]


Marchese e Conte Don Piero Piromallo Capece Piscicelli di Montebello, XIV Duca di Capracotta, Marchese e Barone di Montebello, died in Naples on 26 January.

[He was born in 1926, son of Don Nicola Maria Piromallo Capece Piscicelli dei duchi di Capracotta (1884-1960) and of Donna Anna d'Ayala Valva dei marchesi di Valva (1891-1981) and married in 1950 Gemma dei baroni Grippo. He is survived by her, one son and two daughters.]


Count Alvise Loredan, Patrician of Venice, died in Venice on 16 February.

[He was born in Venice in 1925 and married in 1952 Donna Bianca Pignatelli Aragona Cortes dei duchi di Terranova (b.1924) and is survived by her and three sons.]


Countess Donna Giuseppina (known as Lellè) Emo Capodilista, née Pignatelli della Leonessa dei principi di Monteroduni, died in Rome in March, at 102 years old.

[She was born in 1909, daughter of Don Luigi Pignatelli della Leonessa (1885-1930) and of Maria dei marchesi Ajossa (1889-1969) and married in 1938 the late Count Andrea Emo Capodilista. She is survived by two daughters.]

Odette de Voyer de Paulmy d'Argenson, Marchioness d'Argenson, née Princess Odette de Polignac, passed away on 4 April 2012 at Argenson, aged 95.

She was born on 1 May 1916, the second child and eldest daughter of Prince François de Polignac and his first wife, née Simone de Maillé de la Tour-Landry.
She married in 1940 to Marc-Pierre de Voyer de Paulmy d'Argenson, Marquess d'Argenson, with whom she had five children. The Marquess died in 1975.
She is survived by her children Béatrice, Pierre and Jean-Denis and their families; her eldest son Marc-René and her youngest daughter Elisabeth predeceased her respectively in 1999 and 2008.

Baroness Gratia Schimmelpenninck van der Oye died this year.

She was born in 1912 as the youngest of three daughters of Jonkvrouwe Henriette Huyssen van Kattendijke (1882-1917) & her husband Baron Albert Schimmelpenninck van der Oye (1880-1943). Her sisters' names are Elisabeth and Agnes.
In 1939 she married Henri van der Bergh (1905-1977) but they divorced in 1971. They had four children: Marie Luise (b.1940), Adriaan Markus (b.1942), Stephanie (b.1944) and Diana (b.1948).
Apart from her children she is survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothea Schmidtmayer, née Countess Dorothea von Thun und Hohenstein, died on 27 April 2012, aged 88.

She was born at Unter-Hermanitz on 6 March 1924, the third daughter and fourth child of Count Johannes Nepomuck von Thun und Hohenstein and his wife Countess Eugenie, née Baroness von Baratta.
She married in 1949 to Joseph Schmidtmayer, with whom she had a son, Wilhelm, in 1951; her husband predeceased her in 1973.

Leopold de Rothschild died this year.

He was born in 1927 as the youngest of four children of Lionel Nathan de Rothschild (1882-1942) & his wife Marie Louise Eugenie, nee Beer (1892-1975).
He is survived by five nieces and four nephews and their families; one of his nieces predeceased him in 1989.
He didn't set his own family.

Countess Donna Sarolta Lucchesi Palli, nee Countess Teleki von Szek died on 15 March, exactly two weeks before her 89th birthday.

On 2 June 1946 she married in Brunnsee Don Adinolfo Antonio Sisto Lucchesi Palli (1911-1986) by whom she had children: Maria Beatrice (b.1947), Michele (b.1949), Eva Maria (b.1951), Pio (b.1955), Maria Bernadetta (b.1957) and Charlotte (b.1960). Apart from them she is survived by seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
