Sheikh Ali is accused of embezzling millions of dollars.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a former Kuwaiti minister and ruling family member over his alleged role in a multi-million dollar fraud, AFP reported on Monday.
The warrant was issued by a tribunal after Sheikh Ali al-Khalifa al-Sabah, finance and oil minister in the 1980s and early 1990s, failed to appear on Saturday and answer questions about his suspected part in the long-running embezzlement case.
Sheikh Ali and four former executives of state-owned Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) are accused of amassing illegal profits by leasing oil tankers to paper companies they had created, defrauding KOTC out of more than $100 million.

Kuwait caves on demands to bail citizens out of debt

Kuwaiti ruler Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Wednesday ordered the government to set up a 300-million Kuwaiti dinar ($1.9 billion) fund to bail thousands of citizens out of debt after protesters stormed the country's National Assembly.

A huge crowd of demonstrators had to be thrown out of the assembly on Tuesday following the government's decision to deny their demands for the state to pay off debts such as bank loans.

The meeting on debt relief eventually had to be postponed after one citizen hurled abuses at MP Ahmad Baqer, head of the financial and economic affairs committee, accusing him of opposing the aspirations of common citizens.

Sheikh Sabah al-Sabah is presently undertaking a state visit to China, his first visit to China as ruler of Kuwait. During the visit it is expected that agreements in the areas of sports, education, and infrastructure will be signed. Talks will also take place on "regional and international issues of mutual concern" according to the Chinese ambassador to Kuwait last week.

Kuwaiti Prince Sheikh Basel Salem Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah was shot dead allegedly by his uncle. In a brief statement on Saturday, the Kuwaiti Ruler’s Court said the country was “mourning the demise of Sheikh Basel Salem Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, who passed away at the age of 52,” without giving details of what caused his death.
However, Sheikh Basel was reportedly shot several times by an uncle on Thursday evening at his weekly meeting place while the two had an argument over cars. He was rushed to a local hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on the way. His uncle reportedly had approached him earlier to say he wanted to speak to him in private. The two left the house and shots were heard shortly after.
Medical staff confirmed the Prince had been shot multiple times at close range. Police arrested the alleged shooter inside Maseelah Palace and sent him to the General Prosecution for investigation. Crime scene investigators were also sent to the scene to carry out further investigations. The prince’s brutal death has shocked the tiny oil-rich nation of Kuwait. An investigation has been launched into the incident.—Agencies

Shiekh Faisal Abdullah Aljaber , is said to be severely depressed , but nevertheless law is law on kuwait, most probably he will be trailed and and he may face a death sentence, but I think he will just be sent to jail , because at this time the last thing Kuwait needs is more drama , and btw Sheikh basel may he rest in peace was very loved by the people as he's the grandson of Shiekh Sabah ALSalem , he was a sportsman and is very passionate about the motor sports , he was also physically handicapped . May he rest in peace.
